Food network is a BAD BAD thing!

I watch it all the time during the weekends because I like to have new ideas for food.

Some of the food they make looks sooo good, but is probably so bad. Specially Paula Deen.

I especially cannot watch Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives. I am ALWAYS hungry after I watch that show!

I LOVE Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. I am so picky that there is never anything I would eat though, that makes it easier to watch.

LOL! I was watching Diners, Drive-in's and Dives last night!! I love watching it! Yes, it makes me hungry, but I don't have the time or ingredients to make that stuff, so I'm safe. LOL! Paula is another fave of mine! Moderation ... it's all about moderation! I would not eat like she cooks daily, but I'd certainly do a dish of hers for special occasions! Or even find low-cal versions of some of the things I see on there. :)

My family has a good laugh when I'm working out and watching "Cupcake Wars" or some other cooking show! For some reason it is a vicarious thrill for me.

I love FN too. I was kinda watching the other day and Sunny, I think her show is Cooking For Real, was making this brushetta with eggplant and looked so yummy. Yes Paula Deen is bad with the butter.

I love watching the food channel too! I turn it on occasionally now. If I watched it then I want to try the recipes and that is a no..no. I do not want to throw that stick of butter in my body anymore. lol We have a local channel here that has one of our local lowfat cooking celebs. http://dawnhallcookbooks.com/ Lots of good ideas. She'll have some recipes on her site too.

Oh gosh! I feel the same way! I don't get cable at home, but the Food Network is always on the television at my gym. Watching it while working out makes me famished! Yesterday they were making potato skins and brownies...I think I was drooling on the elliptical.

I love watching Man vs Food! It gets me hungry but it won't get me messing up my day. I also watch Bizarre Foods which doesn't get me really hungry. :D

I've eaten at 3 or 4 of the DDD places, and they were all so gross :(. One of them was OK, but really, I was super disappointed. So I don't watch that show anymore because it makes me sad, haha.

LOVE food network. But since changing my lifestyle, I can't watch it very often because all I want is fried chicken and chocolate cake afterwards. And let's face it, that is not good for anyone!!!

I love the Barefoot Contessa. She has great ideas and she's so calm and soothing when she talks. Although I wonder what alternate reality life she lives over there in Nantucket, or wherever she is. Her normal day is like: "I'm going to bring fresh homemade bread down to the docks to feed the lobsterman, then stop by to see Mary at the market and to pick up some blueberries from her organic garden, then this afternoon I'm baking scones to raise money to restore the old lighthouse my good friends Evan and Peter just bought......etc etc etc.

I love Giada! She makes it look so easy, and most of what she makes is on the lower-fat side of italian food.

I used to spend my "sick" days from work watching the food network ALL DAY long. Can't do that anymore though!

Man VS Food always makes me starved, so I have to avoid it. We love it though.

I LOVE Food Network. But the absolutely worst is that it is ALWAYS playing on one of the four TVs in the cardio theatre at my gym. I spend an hour on the treadmill drooling over what is being made and then I'm ravenous by the time I'm done.

I love Food Network, especially the competition shows like chopped and cupcake wars. My hubby and I say it's porn for the overweight lol

lol, so true, but I love her! And also Giada. They both actually have quite a few reasonably healthy recipes in their collections. I'm a complete food network, and basically any other cooking show, addict.

Paula makes some great dishes, but OMG! I can't stand when she talks about having a healthy vegetable, then she puts all that butter and cream in it. If you're going to cook like that, don't delude yourself into thinking it's healthy. I'll watch her SAY she's putting in two tablespoons of butter into something but actually see her put half the stick in. Then a little later, she'll throw in another pat. umm, be honest, Paula! It's fine to cook like that, but be honest about how much you're putting in.

I like watching the cooking shows because some dishes I wouldn't bother trying just reading the recipe, but if I can see it done, I think to myself that I can actually do that. I really like Rachael Ray and Claire Robinson. I cannot stand Giada or Ina Garten. Sandra Lee and Nigella are OK.

But my husband and I try not to watch too often, since it does kick the cravings into high gear. When our willpower isn't so strong, why tempt things?

My husband said the same thing he was watching a burger joint on that show in our city and he went there and he said the food was oooooookkk and he wouldn't want to go there again.

Somehow it look so good on TV.

I know....especially when I love to cook too!!! I need to simply block that station from my TV. Not only does it make me hungry but I think I gain weight just looking at the food.

I enjoy finding good restaurants in out of the way places that don't charge an arm and a leg. I hate chefs who get so full of themselves and start cooking junk after they are "famous."

But I also know I can cook healthier for myself in the long run. Its all a matter of finding the time to dedicate to healthy cooking.
