If it puts you in a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. You can also still eat them, in a calorie deficit, and still lose weight.18

^ This. Although if you really are concerned about it try whole grain varieties.1 -
Actually I started 2 days back skipping it and replacing with eggs fruits chicken n corn flakes with around 4 km waklk and drop my weight 1 kg is it ok or am I going to fast2
-
Do you have any blood sugar issues? Why and why should you avoid carbs listed above by yours?0
-
Nops I don't have any thx God but it was suggested by sone friends who already achieved results by same0
-
Well, a lot of people tend to avoid those foods because it's so easy to eat too much of it. But, if you pay attention to calories and nutrients, you'll see that they aren't so bad for you as long as you eat small amounts.1
-
Makes sense appreciate that0

I read "rice sugar bread" as one food item, and thought you were suggesting that people skip it. Ha!
Anyway, I feel like those three items are the bulk of what I eat. Especially rice. I love rice! I've managed to lose just fine.8 -
So you have been doing this for 2 days??
2 days is too soon to draw any conclusions.
But if you are eating less calories (and making healthy choices like the eggs, fruit, chicken, cornflakes you mentioned, usually leads to this) and doing more exercise (well done on 4 km's walking) - you will be on right track to achieve weight loss.
But you can, if you want to, include sugar, rice, bread in appropriate amounts within your calorie allowance.
After all, everyone in Asia is not overweight - and rice is the staple food there.6 -
For me personally-I lost 50lbs while still eating white and brown rice, all sorts of foods with added and natural sugar and then different varieties of breads. I continued to eat all the foods I enjoyed-I just learned how to fit them into my calorie goals.4
-
I too thought it was bead made with rice sugar;)5

Results are seen from being in a calorie deficit and not by skipping foods that contain sugar, rice or bread. You will not see faster, better results doing this.
This sounds like another one of those "carbs are bad" or "carbs are evil" sentiments.3 -
Good morning BelaHasan,
I'm down just a couple pounds shy of 30lbs in 2 months.
I eat rice daily, bread a couple of times a week, and I drink 1 sugar in my coffee, sometimes I have 1-3 coffees a day.
Build your self a sustainable daily meal, I chose to eat 5oz of meat (chicken, beef, turkey), 1/2 cup of rice, and 1 cup broccoli. I eat this for lunch and dinner. It's easy to make a bulk of.
Don't deprive your self of anything, this will make your journey last only a week or two.
Figure out your calories needed per day, and build your self a sustainable meal around it.
feel free to peek at my dairy.

The same could be said of any 3 foods that you eat often. If you remove them from your diet and don't replace the calories with some other food, obviously you will lose fat. If you remove sugar, rice and bread but eat something else of same calories you won't lose fat. That's how it works. Fat gain/loss is all about calories.3 -
I THINK I WOULD DIE IF I CAN'T EAT SUGAR OR RICE.. MY ROOTS ARE INDIAN (Asian) we sniff that stuff!

Just make sure what you swap it for isn't actually higher in calories!2
-
I eat rice, sugar, and bread on the regular and I'm happy with my weight loss so far. I eat in a calorie deficit every day and eat a variety of foods that fit my calorie goals, which I attribute to that success.2

To add to this several years ago I gained a small amount of weight and panicked so I thought I would become a vegetarian and lose weight and I didn't I gained weight. After gaining weight as a vegetarian I decided to go low carb because of course it was carbs making me fat, bad carbs bad, and gained more weight. I was eating a lot of high calorie foods like nuts and always felt hungry and my stomach growled constantly (very embarrassing) and not quietly.
I say this so you understand it's not what you cut from your diet it's about calories. No food is bad and no food is going to make you gain weight but too much of anything will make you gain weight.
Eat what you enjoy, maintain a calorie deficit, find a macro split that keeps you satisfied, don't make yourself miserable, don't feel guilty over food, enjoy life and you will lose weight and be happier. Good luck.2 -
Give up rice? Not a chance. I eat it all the time.
I do moderate sugar and bread for satiety but I still eat them, even cake and ice cream and lost 140 pounds. As long as you maintain a calories deficit, you will lose weight.1 -

I'm down 13lbs in two weeks cutting out potatoes, rice, bread, pasta, and beer. I am obese and need the weight off for my health. My doctor and I will add carbs back into my diet soon.1

Same, LOL.
Like others have said, you can lose weight while eating rice, sugar, and bread (or rice sugar bread). However, if you eat a lot of those three items, and then cut them out (without substituting new food in), then it is likely you will lose weight.
The thing to understand is that you won't be losing weight because those three foods are "bad"; you will be losing weight because you'll be intaking less calories.
If you want to, you can achieve the same results WHILE eating rice, sugar, and bread. It's up to you.0 -
I eat rice, bread, sugar and still losing weight, you dont need to cut all this stuff just create a deficit.
I dont know why people cut all this out unless maybe advised by DR0 -

I agree, I've cut these so called bad foods numerous times before, and failed miserably every single time after 2 weeks.. gained the weight back and then some. Now I eat rice twice a day.4 -

For sure! I agree with you 100%. The amount of rice I eat now is nothing compared to what I'm used to.
To each their own how they want to go about their weight loss and what works and doesn't for them.

I lost 30 lbs 6 years ago, and 7 lbs this year, eating white bread, white rice, and cupcakes (with ALL of the buttercream frosting) in moderation and in appropriate size portions. Eliminating foods never worked for me and it's easier for me to stick to my plan when I can eats the foods I like. If it fits in your daily calorie goal there is no need to cut it out.4
-
if you eat alot of any one food, cutting it out will likely create a deficit, but I rarely eat rice or bread and already try to limit sugar, so for me, it would not create much of a deficit.1
-
Now I want to try this "rice sugar bread". Sounds tasty.3
