If you hurt your back I certainly wouldn't be doing the planks. Try some yoga instead for back stretches. Get well!

Actually the pt has me doing them for short times. I think having done them for the last 2 months has helped. The back is healing much more quickly than it has in the past. Taking today off. Did a lot of walking and stretching. But I am seeing improvement with these darn planks. I will just keep going really slow. Hopefully in a week or so it will be better. Then maybe I can keep it better this time....1 -

Instead of pro rating I am just going to try for 2 mins a day so I don't have to do anymore math than is necessary0 -

I read somewhere that the length of time you can hold a plank is really only a judge of your current fitness level or simply for bragging rights, not beneficial in any other way. Many short planks are just as good in the long run as a longer plank. Can't remember where I read that. I was doing an 8 minute plank a couple months ago but after reading that I split it up into two 4 minute planks and do some yoga stretches in-between. I've seen no difference in strength of my core, and I don't have to kill myself to get that 8 minute one done. I could probably do just as well doing 8 one minute planks if I wanted. I'm too stubborn for that though lol.

Thanks, I needed that tonight as I just finished my 1 minute (had to do it in 15 s sections) But I have no pain in my back today. So the stretching with PT exercises is helping.

Nice! Don't stop the stretching. Keeping it up can keep the injury from re-occurring. I know from experience. Every time I have managed to re-injure my back I had been slacking on the yoga. So now no matter what I do, even if I take an extra rest day I'll do my planks, core work, and yoga stretches at a minimum when I wake up in the mornings.1 -

It is like you know my weakness. I was doing so well and slacked. Now I am doing it again and need to have learned my lesson. Not sure it happened, but am hoping to remember this time. Stretching is my friend!0 -
