Non Scale Victory. Something other than the weight on the scale.3 -
Completed my first Ragnar Trail Run today!! It was freaking phenomenal!! I was the "newer" runner on the team with having just started Oct 2016, but I MORE than held my own time wise (for what I'd committed to doing) for each leg of the relay race!
Trail running requires a lot of leg strength due to the terrain resistance, constant inclines, and the requirement that we jump over roots, debris etc that may be on the trail...my weight lifting certainly came in handy and assisted with "leveling the playing field" a bit since I'm not a particularly fast runner YET. :-) My quickest time was on the "harder" (red trail) since I didn't have to stop at all for the inclines... just ran right up them. Soooo happy it's over now though! :-)
Oh yeah and last notch on the small Fitbit is now looser.. may have to look into xsmall wrist bands soon.23 -
My NSV is health-wise. I had some blood work done at a recent health fair, and this week I got the results back. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol, have for awhile now, though my blood pressure seems to be finally sorting itself out since I'm not as big as I was when I was first put on my medicine (I'm still on it, but I hope at my next doctor's appointment, we can talk about starting to take me off it).
But my cholesterol, well, at the last health fair in September (they have them every six months here), I was told it wasn't at goal and she upped my dosage to help it along. Like I told a lot of people I know, "I'm still big, it's not going to be at goal overnight and look at my uncle, who is about as a big as a rail, and he has high cholesterol." Anyway, I got the results back...and my overall cholesterol was 156, which for being a not so fat girl, is pretty good. My ldl (bad cholesterol) could be a little better, and my hdl (good cholesterol) needs some help, but I'm working on that one...hopefully by the next health fair in this September it'll be in better shape. But I still consider it a win, because last time I think it was over 200.22 -

About a month ago I was at old navy and saw size 14 long pants on sale for $6.95. At the time I was wearing size 18 longs. Yesterday I had my other jeans in the wash when a friend called to ask me to do something so I tried the 14 longs. They fit like a dream.33

Feeling (almost) pretty to accomplish my citizen duty - I'm French and today is the 1st vote for the election of a new president.
A year ago I'd have gone in jogging I guess. If I went at all, that's how bad I was at the moment.

Atrempted w1d1 c25k today. Didn't finish, but got 2/3 done before i thought i was going to be sick or die. Much better than I thought I'd do. Went with my very athletic 11yr old. He was very supportive the entire time. He's pretty awesome. Our goal is to be able to finish by next week, and actually be on the program. Also, want to add, this was my first actual exercise since January.29

I went for a long walk outside today because the weather is so beautiful. About halfway through my walk I realized I couldn't feel my roll of back fat anymore!! Haha, good riddance to it!29

Had a nightmare (by my standards) 24 hours
Yesterday I was feeling really pleased with myself as I'd completed W1D1 of C25K. I hadn't got my bike ride in so last night went out for a bit.
The reason I didn't get my ride in earlier in the day was that DH was changing my inner tubes, adding some sealant-type stuff that is supposed to self-seal punctures without the need for more than a air pump, and he decided to sort out my brakes whilst he was getting his hands dirty. He wanted me to road test the bike so off I went.
It was the hardest, most awful ride ever. I couldn't get along, I was sluggish, I had to use ridiculously low gears for minor slopes, it was horrendous. The most excruciating, longest 11 miles ever. As I was getting more despondent by the second, I headed home at the first opportunity. This is not like me at all, I love cycling and will keep going even through wind, rain, sleet, everything that is thrown at me.
I decided that I'd probably tried to do too much yesterday, as I'd cycled to/from the gym, walked 12.5 miles and done the C25K workout plus loads of other household stuff; I'd basically not had a break all day apart from eating lunch and dinner.
Thought a good night's sleep would sort me out. Got up this morning and decided that after I'd been to the gym, I'd go for a long cycle ride (30+ miles) whilst it was a little bit colder and overcast (I have to avoid cycling in the sun as I'm taking a drug that has made me incredibly photo-sensitive; factor 50+ protects me for about 30 minutes these days, whereas it was good for a fair few hours before).
Got to the gym really tired after my cycle there (which almost took forever) so only did my strength training (I usually play on the cardio machines for a bit as well). Cycled off, did about two miles and I was exhausted. I just couldn't cope with it. So slow and sluggish, so off home I went. Still couldn't decide if it was the bike or me I did decide though, that if it was due to the C25K, then I'd rather be able to cycle than run.
DH wanted to know what the problem was, as I was back hours before expected. Told him that I was struggling and that I wanted to get my old bike out to see if the problem was me, or the bike.
Finally, got the old bike out this afternoon (after we'd been for an eight-mile walk and I was fine, not at all tired) and took it for a spin. It was great, no problems at all, no being tired or sluggish, the bike went really well.
Reported back to DH who, in my absence, had decided to look at my usual bike anyway. And found that the brakes were a little bit too well adjusted and that the rear wheel had also been over-tightened and was pinching the wheel. Loosened it all off, road tested it and it was perfect. Back to normal, but no proper (ie, long) bike ride today. Disappointed about that but I was very happy that it was the bike and not me
But, anyway, the NSV. When I have a day like this, and I cannot get out on the bike, I am like a bear with a sore head and I eat everything in sight.
Today I have not done that. I haven't even thought about eating anything other than what I'd intended for today. I have stuck to my plan and not been derailed by other, extremely annoying, events.
Plus I got to spend extra time with my family which is always worth giving something up for (even unintentionally).
And my step count is currently 22,606.24 -
Oooh, and another one. I noticed today that my turtle/turkey neck is less conspicuous

Celebrated my birthday yesterday and had some NSVs
- Bought myself some bras at Victoria's Secret. Can't believe I am now a size they actually sell in the store! Down to a 38DD from a 42/44DD!!
- Also bought a birthday dress at Maurice's in a straight-size LARGE! I used to wear a 2x/3x there.
- Went out for drinks and experienced what you've all been saying! Had wine with dinner, then two rum and cokes and was DRUNK. Like whoa. Way drunker than I planned. I guess I'm a lightweight now!

Wore my "goal jeans" out in public!!!44

Tried a new biking trail today and it was too easy and short for me. Got very frustrated due to the lack of workout and I think I spent more time wrestling with the shi--ahh, lousy bike rack than actually riding. I came home and blasted through the nearby streets subdivision instead. Not as much fun, but at least I got to burn those muscles a little.
This is the first time that be felt that intense need to workout, so although I hated the situation, the impedous is a NSV.31 -
I ran the Glass City 5k this am: I placed 2nd in my age group42

Last year when I switched my closet over for spring, I had put together a bag of clothes that I didn't like/couldn't fit to donate to goodwill. After a while, I got used to seeing the bag sitting there in my bedroom, and unfortunately they never made it to a donation bin. But fortunately, I happened upon the bag again a couple of weeks ago, and all of the clothes that didn't fit now fit! So they're back in my closet. I call that a victory34

Slow it down. Even if it's as slow as walking speed.
I started off at about 275 with my C25K and I had to run very slowly. Now I'm training for a 10k.25
