Overcame A Weight Loss Plateau By Changing My Mindset

Figure out how you truly want to feel, identify your core values in life and take ownership of your vision. Everyone is different, then let those values, that vision and those desired feelings guide you and be your motivation.
This motivation comes from within, is authentic for YOU and brings harmony to your life. Everything else will follow naturally.

    Snack Your Way to Slim
Working snacks into your day can help you stick to your diet - just make sure to factor in those extra calories!

Weight loss is primarily a numbers game: calories in versus calories out. So choose nutritious foods, but count those calories and be mindful. And when you count the calories make sure you're meeting your weight loss calorie goal. (VW)

When you are at a diet plateau and feeling disappointed and binge, it's not your fault. When to restrictive on these fad diets, we often binge or just stop trying. The trick is to forgive yourself and get back on track with a well balanced diet and exercise. Give yourself permission for a small cheat and learn from it and move on. Never STOP trying.

The best time of day to exercise is the time that works best for you. Studies go back and forth on this topic and there are benefits in exercising in the morning and later in the day. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and lifestyle. Choose a time that helps you make exercise a regular and consistent part of your routine.

Small loss, but I will take it. Saw an even lower number on the scale earlier this week and I got a little excited, hopefully it will stick around for the next weigh in.

    Good Morning All
I hope everyone had a great Easter holiday, I hope you didn't over do it. I did and I paid for it. Today is my fast and hopefully it will undo my lack of judgement Easter. WE all have slip ups and we must learn from them and get back on track. Its ok to be human and except our mistakes and not beat ourselves up over them. Today is a new day and a fresh chance to get it right and make the very best of the day. Each dat we do this will make us better, stronger and closer to our goals. So do something positive and keep pushing for your goals.

I am new to this site. I was using "Calorie Count" until it ended. I must admit I haven't been that responsible with my logging my foods, but I saw this and decided, "why not?". My ultimate goal is to lose 35 lbs. I am short-5 ft,1 in. and weigh 159. I am 63 years old and retired; so I suspect I am one of the oldest on this site. So....here goes!

Mickyd92, welcome! You are in good company on this site. One of my biggest inspiration is about your age and height. Check out this thread, it's for 'shorties' trying to lose the same amount as you... http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10482801/5-53-females-want-to-lose-25-30-lbs#latest

Hello! I am joining this late, I see. Started eating better last Monday on a somewhat vegetarian/vegan eating plan. No added sugar, no dairy, no meat except fish and eggs every now and then. Trying for organic as much as possible. Not yet into exercising on a regular basis, but will get there. Have many weight goals in mind, but I am aiming low so it's more feasible and won't overwhelm me.

Had a small gain this week and I will take it. This week was rough. At the beginning of the week I started to feel out of control with my eating and I was eating more than my daily calories. I started to hear that voice in my head and I started to wonder if I could really lose the weight. Then I remembered reading something from someone on another forum who said that "you have to fight for the life that you want." All of a sudden I realized that I had to fight if I wanted to lose this weight, so in the middle of the week I started drinking more water, increased my daily steps, and ate at my daily caloric goals. I began to feel in control again and I was happy this morning that I came out of this week with only a small gain, but still in the 220's. This week has taught me that I even if I have a slip up, I do have the inner strength to get back on the wagon and I can do this.

Will be getting back into weight lifting again this week, can't wait.
