Yay! An armadillo thread! One of my favorite critters in all of Texas. Did you know these little *kitten* can swim like a mofo both above & below the water? My brother & I tried to catch one when I was about 12 old. We got up early to fish at the pond behind the house and we saw it while walking to the pond. We thought it would make an awesome redneck pet & cornered it at the pond or so we thought. Nope! That sucker took a leap into the water & swam like mad for about 10 yards & then dove under. It didn't come back up until it crawled out of the other side of the pond which was about 30 yards across.
We were so impressed we just left him alone from then on. One of the coolest freaking animals ever.0 -

Nope. I was reading about German POWs being housed in Texas. The camp guards (from the northern US) didn't know what they were either, so the Germans christened them 'armored pigs.'0 -
