Yes there is a lot of milk ! Skimmed though. Breakfast is usually healthy porridge!

Skimmed milk has calories, even though it is suppose to be good for losing weight, you can also pile in those calories fast, even by putting it in your many cups of coffee, which can make you feel hungry, try to limit your intake of it. Coffee is suppose to be a suppressant to curb your cravings, not a stimulate towards them. If you are feeling hungry than you are not eating the right nutrition, or not drinking enough water.

Hi weight loss thank you for the input but it isn't the breakfast kcal that are the issue it's my overall appetite. I am also unsure there isn't a rebound feeling from coffee at times, in that it an make my stomach roar but that could be all the milk. I think my usual breakfast has around 500 kcal inclusive of the skimmed milk. A lot yes but porridge without sugar and skimmed milk. As mentioned I'm not referring to hunger, it's that hedonistic appetite that appears to be stimulated following it and like someone else said it increased the eating window. Remember though I get up very early, if o got up at 8 or 9 the. Maybe breakfast would be perfect!

I would stop drinking coffee but keep eating the same amount of calories. If you're still hungry, then it's what foods/how much you're eating.

Porridge is good and all, but for some people grains make them hungrier.

My breakfast is at 12-1 pm, right after my workout.

I can not eat when I wake up, my body just doesn't want any of it.

If you were maintaining your weight before, and the only thing you have done is add breakfast...then you could be eating in a surplus. If you want to eat breakfast, you may have to adjust your intake throughout the day.

I personally get hungry when I eat breakfast. I stave off the initial morning hunger with just coffee and fast until lunch, otherwise I'll be hungry all day if I eat breakfast in the am.

Try logging more accurate as you can, be sure you also log additives like if you are drinking coffee and you add some sugar on it 1tsp of sugar is 15 cals adding more can have bigger calorie values.

    This is a good idea.

I do think some people get hungrier with breakfast.

I don't, but I need more protein at breakfast -- grains + milk would not be satisfying for me, especially for 500 calories. But it certainly would be for others, it's all individual.

Another thought is that coffee and milk both can upset the stomach, and sometimes weird digestive stuff can feel like hunger (at least this happens to me, although not related to either of those items).

Well that would not be much of a calorie source of any weight gain. I know some people who never eat breakfast but I do. Full coffee makes me sleepy for some reason however. Maybe it is an age thing. :)

Yes we can be different from others so in the end the way of eating that works best for us seems to be the route to go.

You see I'm wondering if coffee is making me more sleepy, it never used to, but I feel a slump an hour afterwards- maybe I'm just weird!

    https://thenakedscientists.com/articles/questions/why-does-coffee-make-me-sleepy

I find this reason appeals to my science side. I know it is not a dehydration factor in my case.

Interesting, it's definitely not dehydration in my case! I think I get the slump an hour after, by four hours I'm am getting very, very sleepy. I didn't used to be like this, did you find it was an age thing too GaleHawkins

As suggested in your other threads, see if having more protein in first meal helps you with the roller coaster.

But I am noticing it doesn't matter what I eat, if I eat at 6 am I'm feeling dizzy and lethargic by 11.30 and need more food by then to function. Saying that I'm afraid my discipline Nada and although I have cut down on coffee I haven't eliminated it completely.

I'll get there! I'm hoping as the children grow up my early starts are reduced. But small price to pay!

I don't see what's abnormal about this? It's a long time without food. The earlier I have breakfast, the earlier I'm hungry for lunch too... that's totally normal... especially if you only have a small breakfast. I need 600-800 calories at breakfast if I want to last 6 hours, usually.

But yeah, when I'm up early, and hungry early, the day is harder, but I usually just have an earlier dinner and I'm fine. I just wait until I'm hungry to actually have breakfast (I just have black coffee first).

I'm up at 5:30 with my kids so I feel your pain. I take a med that I can't have with food, though, so I usually drink breakfast in the car after they've been dropped off at daycare. I'm usually eating around 7:40, and then coffee all morning until lunch at 11:30. Second lunch (protein bar) around 3 and then supper at 6:30. Very little snacking other than second lunch.

I find I'm not super hungry except at 5:00 (was worse before I added my mid afternoon meal) but I work out right after work so eating is delayed.

I'm also someone who cannot eat breakfast, otherwise I will eat non stop all day long. I don't eat anything until 2pm. That's just what works for me.

Thanks for posting everyone. Odd how we are all different. I actually have my highest appetite first thing and mid afternoon and my lowest moods then too. Yvette have you kept your weight within healthy range? Do you drink coffee in the interim?

Sarah I'm sorry you are up early too- it's really hard to resist cakes and sugar when tired. It sounds like you have got it sussed. How long have you been following this regime? You see I'm ready for lunch at 11.30 and stupidly snack then. I don't eat until my partner gets home at eight to nine in the evening!!! So when I reflect it's no wonder I'm a bit all over the place.

I could never hold until 9pm at night if I'm up hungry at 6am. Just not happening, lol. Even 8pm... I'm a 'hungry earlier in the day and not much in the evening' type too.

This time around, about 3 weeks but I'm finding it easy to stick with it. Adding second lunch really was the key, as was deciding I didn't want to raid the office candy dish.

By the end of June my commute will get a lot shorter so I'm hoping that we can sleep a bit later! Fortunately the kids let us sleep until 7ish on the weekends.

I eat breakfast, but I try to push it back to around a couple hours after I wake up. I then have a small protein, fat, and fiber packed breakfast (slice of whole wheat 45 cal toast, half cup egg whites, 1/4 cup cheddar) and I'm good for another 3 hours. So in total, that's 5 hours on roughly 250 calories...which is pretty good.

Maybe try adding fuller fat milk or soy milk to your coffee as well? The fat/protein might help with feeling satiated, and if you're using a small amount, it shouldn't add that many calories.

I'm exactly the same, i put off eating for as long as possible. I drink black coffee and tea with milk all morning.

Ha 6pm is the latest i can hold out for to have dinner! My hubby and i hardly ever eat together at night, he waits till around 7. He eats by the clock, i eat when I'm hungry.

Have to say cut out breakfast - well had cream in my coffee and my appetite has been much lower all day. I got hungrier earlier but was much less "snacks"!

I'm not even close to a healthy weight range yet. But figuring out a way for me to eat that works and would be sustainable is what I had to do to start losing the weight. Figuring out that breakfast make me so hungry was a HUGE part of that. Finding the right calorie range was a part of that. So I'm around 20lbs down, with much more to go. But now it's so much easier for me than it ever has been.
