Three steps...
1) Think - Is this really something to be sad about?
2) If yes, take a moment to cry because sometimes it's a good stress reliever. If no, then snap the hell out of it and think "chick....there are times of the month for that!".
3) Remember everything I have to be grateful for and that there are others who could only dream of having the necessities in life.0 -

I listen to music. It's therapy for me. I find a song, cry my eyes out and then I feel better. Sometimes music is the only thing that gets you.1

Sad: I just take naps cause I seem to get real tired when I'm sad or depressed.0 -
I just came out of a verbally and emotionally abusive marriage so right now it is alcohol and music.2

I get out in the fresh air and ride my horse for stress relief. When I get sad I jam those feelings right down where they belong and pretend everything's fine. And then get annoyed that no one asks me how I am or assumes I'm not sad.0

Depressant in the sense that it depresses your central nervous system, not makes you depressed.
The phrase 'alcohol is a depressant' doesn't translate to 'alcohol makes you sad'.
The effect alcohol has to mood is highly variable.

It depends on what kind of sad...sometimes I'll drink, sometimes I'll go out, sometimes I'll put on a movie that I know will make me cry and cry it out, sometimes I'll just go to bed and sleep it away.0
