05/24 -140.8 (5k run yesterday)
05/25 - 140.0 (weight training day yesterday. Nice surprising drop again this morning - although I suspect this is mostly water weight. I decided to concentrate on getting enough protein this week - something I'm not very good at usually. I've done really well so far, but, in order to keep within my calorie total, it's been at the expense of carbs - I read somewhere that 1g of carbs binds to 2g of water, so that'll be why the sudden drop in weight! (It does make you wonder what our 'bodyweight' actually ever is really?!) I've already had enough of tuna, chicken and eggs though - they're making me feel so full! And so thirsty! Not sure I'd be able to keep this up long term.
05/26 -139.2 (YAY! - finally broke through the 140 barrier! Really pleased with this. Determined to keep it up this weekend. Have a good one everyone)
05/27 -138.6 (weight lifting yesterday, going for a 10k run this morning, but have friends over for tea this evening so hoping to keep within my calories for today. I WILL BE GOOD THIS WEEKEND!)
05/28 - 139.0 (not bad at all - did my best 10k ever yesterday and didn't go mad on the wine! Weight lifting and core conditioning this morning)
05/29 - 140.0 (my weight normally fluctuates up after a weekend - I blame the high sodium Sunday lunch - but this isn't as high as usual so I'm really pleased. Back on it today!)
05/30 - 140.0 (rest day yesterday. Gym or run today)

05/23 150 Have a Chia Seed pudding chilling in the fridge: 1/2 cup 2% milk, 1 c water, 1/3 c chia seeds, 1 scoop quest chocolate milkshake protein powder. Been seeing these sorts of concoctions for a while so thought I'd give it a go. Low cal, carbs and high protein. This amt should be good for 3 servings. Entertaining my sweet tooth.
05/24 149.2 Yeah!!! I've been hovering around 150 - 152 for a month and finally broke thru. Now to head to 148. At 71 years losing is more challenging for me then when I was younger - it is for all of us. Avoiding processed foods and sugar just makes me feel better and even if it takes 'til the end of the year to reach goal, so be it.
05/25 149.8 I will celebrate the fact I'm still under 150 and accept the elevator ride that seems to be my body's weight. Had some wine last night so maybe water? Worked with trainer yesterday, my last one for the package I bought, sob, but will continue on as I had my second knee replacement in Dec and need to have the muscles supporting legs/ hips, etc strong. Last night while falling asleep, I was thinking how long it has taken me, since late February, to lose 13 pounds. I'm only averaging a pound a week despite weight training 3x week, 6 days of cardio a week and keeping below goals for cals and carbs. Looked at that way it seems an awfully stingy loss rate. Then, I realized something. 2 more pounds and I'm at 50% of my weight loss goal. Yeah me! Perspective is so important.

Hey, don't forget, the same volume of muscle weighs more than fat. If you're working out a lot, you might be losing fat but gaining muscle. Have you measured yourself? Or, do your clothes fit differently? Muscle is so nice to have!
Thanks for the reminder. Yes, my clothes do fit differently. I'm using a belt on my jeans and tucking in some tops. Haven't done that in years. At the gym tomorrow I'l get on a special scale that will give me an itemized printout of weight, body fat, muscle mass, percentages in each part of body, etc, etc. I can compare that to the one done when I started and am hoping to see significant difference. Well, maybe I'll tailor my expectations and just hope for proof that it's all working.2 -

05/26 149.6 45 min on ellip and way under on cals, a little on carbs. Feeling good in the body. Know what I mean? Feel stronger and lighter. Not so much gut. LOL Today is gym day. Have appts so may not get in ellip. We'll see. I wish everyone a successful day filled with self loving choices. One of mine? Egg whites with a tbsp of cheese for flavor. Maybe some hot sauce. Life is good.
05/27 150.2 Not bad considering I blew it on carbs yesterday. Nothing junky but someone gave me some honey mangoes - unbelievably good and then a hot dog with most of the bun. Confession is good for the soul. Weight training but got in no elliptical yesterday- too busy and tired from phlebotomy to reduce iron levels. Today, at least an hour on ellip is in my future as well as some pre-planning meals so I stay in range for carbs. Netflix has some exercise/dance, etc videos streaming. I might check those out.
05/28 149.2 Yeah! Ate really clean yesterday, stayed well within goals and walked on track at Community Center 2.5 miles. Feeling really good about it all.
05/29 149.2 Waaattt??? Seriously upped my workout on elliptical and well below goals, all clean food. I'm counting half a bottle of stella artois here. Almost a week and not even a pound. Come on, universe! Today's another day.
05/30 148.6 Yes! Maybe it takes a couple days to see benefits of upping exercise. My NSV: my son baked a cherry pie and I resisted! I had one small bite. I looked at it and thought 'It's not worth getting on the scale tomorrow and having it go up." I have to say that limiting flour and sugar has made me feel better.

05/24: 172.8 - Hanging in there.
05/25: 172.4 - Going out of town this weekend. Staying focused to get out of the 170s (aka my "red zone")

05/28: Didn't weigh - didn't count today 1
05/29: 172 on my hotel's scale - not buying it!
05/30: 174.2 - Home. I was expecting a bump, not deterred. Going forward. My goal is "out of the 170s" in round 6!

Continued from round 4...
05/20 144.8 Poor choices have finally caught up with me. I'm gonna start what's called 5:2 intermittent fasting. It is petty popular right now and the studies out there are interesting to me. So it's 5 days of eating near 1200 calories with 2 days a week calories only fasting around 500-600 calories. But during the low calorie days I will make sure protein and good fats are included. I know this is low, but I'm gonna see if it doesn't shake up some of my plateau resistance.
05/21 144.4. No comment on this, but felt good to be down .4
05/22. 144.1 Down .3 and I did manage to stay within a few pound range during vacations, family visits etc...
Round 5. Beginning weight...
05/23. 143.2 So so happy to be down for the count!
05/24. 145.1 ok ok ok ok...way too much wine and celebrating...just when I feel like I'm on a good roll I sabotage myself by overeating and over Drinking! There is a pattern and one that needs to change! I'm gonna be tracking like a mad woman today! Boy does my body ever like the 140's....hoping this is a bit of water weight, tomorrow will tell! I will not be disappointed or discouraged! I'm leaving for vacation in 10 days and would really like to feel good in some of my clothes! The question is...do I want to 'feel' good or 'feel' good? It's a battleground right now! Just trying to say positive! So for me It's time to hit the reset button! It is time to recognize my need to really start over. I'm wiping the slate clean and beginning again by getting my priorities in order and doing what is important for this season. Everything in my past, my choices and my decisions have brought me to this point in my life and I really need to take stock of what I want to take with me into the next phase of my existence and what I want to leave behind, and then do it. Be brave and resolute--that will be my new motto!
05/25. NSV --NON SCALE VICTORY today! I'm gonna take the day and focus on all the good things I do do instead of the inferior choices moved by emotion!
05/26. NSV --Another NON SCALE VICTORY today! I just deleted all my past weight numbers on myfitnesspal for the past months! I'm starting over on a clean slate! The weigh in log was looking a bit like a heart rate monitor on a roller coaster journey to heaven and hell and back again! Enough of that! It felt good to begin again! It's like a brand new morning that we get each day! Yay!
05/27. 144.3 yayayayay back down! Have a great weekend all!
05/28. 144.1
05/29. 144.1
05/30. 145.1 oops....darn it! Eat too much and no exercise! Have a good Memorial Day everyone --and for any military connections out there...thank you for your service!

Goal this week is to get under 140.
05/23 140.6 Nice to lose after my not so good weekend
05/24 142.8 This is because I had pizza for lunch and dinner, plus a few drinks.
05/25 141.2
05/26 140.8 Stayed under my calorie & carb goal yesterday
05/27 139.0 OMG I did it! I haven't been in the 130's since March. I sabotaged myself back then and have been trying to recover ever since. Heading on a weekend vacation, so hope I can stay focused and NOT drink this progress away.
05/28 No scale, out of town

This challenge shows the reality of a weight loss journey. Nobody loses weight without set backs and I hope lots of people find this challenge encouraging. When I first signed into MFP I was so discouraged by my Yo-yo dieting I wanted to give up. The reality is I am not going to stop eating chocolate, bread, pizza, ice cream and the foods I love. That is not what makes me fat. What makes me fat is a lack of self -control. There I admitted it.
Should I celebrate being down 21# since May 20, 2016(266.6), or cry because I am up 20# since January 17,2017 (226.0) or celebrate the the 1.6# loss this week?. I think I will celebrate the 2# loss and put the past in the past and move on. I am determined to use this forum to keep me accountable. Seeing it posted online should help. My goal is to stablize my eating habits so I stop the Yo-Yoing. I will celebrate the victories, and hope to just keep that scale going down if its 2# a month or 1.6# a week.
I'm going to get back on track.

05/24 245.8 Just started back after gaining and losing for many years. I really think this is goind to help me. I haven’t used the community boards much. Is there a way to edit past posts instead of a new post everyday?
05/25 No weight. On a short vacation so I didn’t get to post yesterday or weigh in this morning. No scale. I only weigh first thing in the morning because my weight seems to go up and down during the day.
05/26 245.4 My WOE is -1800 calories eating what I want. I will be lowering calorie count as I lose pounds. I want to do 1800 for at least three weeks. I have been told it takes three weeks to change a habit. I have tried most of the current diets and need to find what works for me. Thanks for listening.
05/27 245.0
05/28 28 Away from home- no scale. Stayed on calorie goal Saturday & Sunday. Will weigh in tomorrow.
05/29 245.4 I stayed on goal but ate a lot of salt. Not discouraged. I know staying on calorie goal is what is important. Practicing self-control. Thanks for challenging me.
05/30 247.6 Don’t know why. Stayed on / actually way under calorie allotment. Maybe salt. Ate pretzels and Spam yesterday. Going to watch that salt today. See ya tomorrow.

I'll give this a go. A little public accountability is not a bad thing at all. As it happens I do weigh myself every day (almost) and take measurements on Mondays. My scale is a digital one that logs to the half pound.
When I came back to MFP 7 weeks ago I weighed 300 lbs. I've weighed myself almost every day, taken measurements every Monday, and recorded my food & exercise every day. I'm also keeping track of days since I last had alcohol, since I know only too well that drinking (besides being empty calories) always leads to eating that has nothing to do with being hungry.
Day Weight Comments
05/22 288.5 lbs. Weight has been "flat" for a couple of weeks and I need to jump-start moving the scale in the right direction again.
05/23 288.5 lbs No change. I put a beady eye on the excess carbs
05/24 288 lbs Nice to see a weight loss. Also met my current daily walking goal and controlled my carbs
05/25 287.5 ibs More weight loss. Also met my current daily walking goal (just hit it) and controlled my carbs, though I was concerned when we had pot roast for dinner as I ate potatoes. I avoided the temptation of the garlic bread with dinner, and the salt and vinegar potato chips my sons left out on the kitchen counter.
05/26 287.5 lbs No weight loss. Blew my calorie count. Blew my carbs. Short on my walking.
05/27 287 lbs A small loss again. Calories were blown but not carbs. I more than made up for the extra calories with extra exercise. I got to 10,000 steps a few minutes before midnight. I've started keeping track of steps in the exercise freeform window. One more "do it every day for accountability" item. I am off to the Simi Valley Cajun and Blues festival today. I shall be diligent watching what I eat, walk around a lot, and also avoid the beer tent.
05/28 287 lbs No change. It's a holiday weekend here in the states...hopefully I can do no worse than maintain the status quo.
05/29 288 lbs. Weight up...not a surprise at all given the howler of a day I had yesterday. Overeating, including some unnecessary carbs, a lack of exercise, and a boatload of wine out by the pool. On a positive note, my measurements are going back in the right direction ---> down.
05/30 288 lbs No change. But all things considered, I got out of the 3 day holiday weekend lightly. On a positive note I hit 11,000+ steps walking.

05/23 150.6
05/24 150.6 I resisted the break room donuts by picturing cockroaches crawling all over them. One of them may have been filled with Boston Cream filling.
05/25 149.8 See what happens when you picture cockroaches crawling on food!?!?!?!
05/26 147.6. This seems too good to be true. I was even afraid to log it. The scale actually said 147.2. I usually get down to 148.6 and sabotage myself, so this really blows me away. I haven't been below 148 in years. Yesterday I drank a lot of water and walked a lot. I stayed within my calorie goal. My back is still tender, so I'm resting it. Yesterday was also my son's 12th birthday. I only had the slightest bite of cake.
05/27 148.6. I had some salty food last night. Today I'm going on a 5 mile hike. My family is gone on a fishing trip so I can spend the weekend eating the right foods without worrying about anybody else.
05/28 148.6 I did the hike, cleaned, and drank lots of water. I was waaaaaay under my calorie goal, but no change today. I bet I'll see another change in the scale soon. Today will be another great day. I'm going to the gym after church and will spend time in the kitchen preparing healthy foods for next week. My grape vine is doing really well, so I'll make dolma. I've also been cleaning and organizing. I've heard there's research behind clean, organized homes and fit people. : )
05/29 150 I ate and drank too much last night and got sick. My body doesn't like rich foods anymore, and I wasn't mindful of what was going into my mouth. My host was a professional chef from Sardinia, and I felt that I needed to try everything otherwise I was missing out. I ended up spending the whole next day on the couch and in the bathroom. : (
05/30 148.8 Back to my plateau weight. I hope I can break through this. QUICK! START ANOTHER 10 DAYS!!!

05/23. 251.6 got back from my sister's graduation weekend celebration and weight is about 3 lbs up. Im excited to get back to a routine of exercise and calorie deficits! Have 61.6 lbs to lose to my first re-evaluation of health metrics and im hoping to be there by my birthday next March. On June 1st, I'd like to be at 247.6. may be too ambitious but im hoping to lose some water weight...we'll see!
05/24 249.2 Yay, weight is coming back off from sister's graduation. Going to be super active today and maintain a strong calorie deficit.
05/25 249.0 Have not had a good workout session since I got back from the family festivities. Will get in a good session today. Despite that, I'm happy for the downward trend.
05/26 251.4 Arrghh I have a dietbet ending in like 10 days and this! Even though I ate what I think is less than my calorie goal for yesterday. It's time to not have anymore starches, and time to drink a gallon of water/day. So when I chek in tomorrow morning, that's my goal. I'll have drunk a gallon of water and not indulged in starches.
05/27 sister visiting didn't weigh in
05/28 sister visiting didn't weigh in
05/29 ate/drank before I remembered so I didn't weigh in
05/30 248 I was nervous about this one. Not because I haven't been mindful of my eating and been active but because my body has been unpredictable lately. Glad to make downward progress.

05/24 176.8-- Maybe I finally lost the water weight after eating movie theater popcorn!! Nice surprise this AM.
05/25 180.6-- My car broke down and we ordered out-- Chinese food. I stayed within calorie limits so I'm sure that this is just water weight... I hope!! My menstrual cycle just started so that probably has something to do with it.
05/26 178.6 ughhh to period cravings. I played with my brothers (3 & 7) for an hour and fifteen minutes and it tired me out!! Instead of eating half a pizza, I ate a coconut popsicle to ease my cravings. I hope that this will pass and I will have a nice surprise on the first!
05/27 178.8 Come on man Feeling discouraged today. I have been eating so well compared to a month ago. I ate pizza for breakfast(eek).
