Hello.
My name is Kaela, and Im almost 25!
I am looking to shed some unwanted weight, I stepped on the scale for the first time in a while and I was shocked and disgusted.
I was looking into the 21 day fix, then started Keto and thought this looks more like what i need.
I am so confused on how to get started, what i should do ect.
I joined MFP in hopes to keep me on track, and to meet some people who are on the same journey im hoping to embark on.

If anyone can help me get started i would be so appreciative!

curious, why do you think that Keto is "what you need?"

all you really need is a calorie deficit, dedication, and some of of exercise regimen...

Hi Kaela! I'm also doing keto based on my primary care physician's recommendation. I found this website to be super helpful and I used this meal plan to get started. Hope this helps!

Hi Kaela, I am also just starting Keto, I've tried just cutting calories but was always terribly hungry. I've been doing keto (somewhat) for the past two weeks and so far I do not feel hungry like I did before. I am also doing intermittent fasting and have watched many videos done by Dr Eric Berg. I have lost five pounds before starting back with MFP so I am motivated by that.
AND Keto is very healthy, not like just counting calories and eating junk.

Keto *may* be "healthy", depending on how you define that word, but counting calories does not = eating junk. You still have to count calories, even if you eat nutritious foods.

    I agree with this 100%!
I however sometime lack in that department, and doing the research I have Keto just seems like a good fit for myself is all!

The Low Carber Daily MFP group has some great info in their launch pad on getting started. You may want to join and look through it.

why would you equate counting calories with eating junk????

why would you assume that increasing your fat consumption to three times the normal would be healthy, in the long-term?

if you can't maintain a deficit it won't matter if you do Keto, moderate carbs, etc, you won't lose weight...

    Hi Kaela!

I started keto back in April, so I'm still a bit of a newbie, but I love that it keeps me full and energized all the time. I came from a binge eating problem for several years and consuming WAY too many carbs, mostly in the form of processed foods, so I am still trying to build healthy habits, but keto has definitely made it easier for me. Hopefully it will also be a good fit for you!

Reddit is definitely your friend for keto, check out r/keto for good basic information, and r/xxketo if you're a woman (it does often seem to affect women and men differently in terms of weight loss speed, etc). I am also doing the challenge at r/100daysofketo, which starts a new round, you guessed it, every 100 days. We just reached the halfway point, but anyone can join at any time, and I have found it to be very motivational.

If you are also looking into keto for potentially healing your body/hormones/etc, I cannot recommend Leanne Vogel over at healthfulpursuit.com enough; she has amazing information on her website, including recipes, food plans you can purchase, and videos where she discusses different questions or problems many first timers or people trying to heal their bodies encounter. One thing I really like about her is she promotes a primarily whole foods approach to keto, and provides lots of options in her recipes if you are allergic to any of the major allergens. She has a podcast as well, The Keto Diet Podcast, where she interviews different experts in their fields on various topics.

I am not overly active on MFP, but I am trying to log every day. You are welcome to add me if you like and we can take on our keto journeys together, or just hit me up if you have any questions and I will see if I can answer them!
