First pic HW 190#, second pic around 125#, last pic 115#. Probably a year, not quite to lose it. Have been maintaining the 114-117 for a year and a half. I am 58 yrs. old.

Awesome progress! It also looks like you shaved 10 years off your age. You look so much younger in your more current picture!

Physically, I lost it using the good old fashioned calories in < calories out philosophy. For me, that was ~1000-1200 calories a day (I don't believe in "starvation mode" and feel like my body just does better on really low calories for weight loss as a matter of personal preference). I weight trained for an hour twice a week, and tried to spend at least one other day doing another activity like skiing, hiking, or rock climbing.

After that, I'd be so mad at myself and so afraid to step back on the scale that I'd avoid it. Rinse, repeat, and put on 10 pounds. This time, I forced myself to weigh in twice a week. No matter what. Given that I wasn't allowing much time to pass, the most it ever jumped was 5 pounds (hello, vacation), which allowed for instant corrective action to be taken. I also would limit myself from the negative mental spiral. If I had a bad meal, I'd say "that sucked, but it just means I have to be better about other meals" and then I'd leave it at that - we all beat ourselves up too much about food.
I also was much more vocal in my struggle with my husband. Having support and not "hiding" my attempt to lose weight made me feel so much more accountable and it was therapeutic to have someone to talk to. Lastly (and thank you internet for anonymity because this lets my true nerd shine), I created Excel models tracking my progress and predicting when I would hit certain goals. Having tangible timelines and matching events with when I expected to be at certain goals definitely made me feel a lot more optimistic about my ability to achieve a 60+ pound weight loss, which felt daunting in August.
Anyhow, sorry for being so long winded in this - hopefully it helps at least one person!

Left is beginning of last October at a friend's wedding, maybe around 150-155. Right is last week, around 138. Mostly just lifting heavy (and counting calories of course), been more serious about it over the last couple of months and loving the results I'm 5ft6 for the curious.7

Started at 314 and now at 167 I've been at it since Jan 2016 and it's been a journey but so worth it ! Never deprive yourself , everything in moderation ! I did give up pop and only drink water and coffee ! I went from a bag of regular chips to a serving size of baked I stayed within calorie goal 90% of the time ! If I had a bad day I refocused and reminded myself why I started ! I had high cholesterol and I know have excellent cholesterol ! I was fat and lazy and sad and I know an average and happy with who I am ! I have some flab but I can handle flab over fat ! Good luck on your new lifestyle change !18

I have an Excel spreadsheet too! Complete with graphs, predictions, and goals based on average weight lost per week. It's been really motivational to see how much progress I've made and I totally agree with you that it helps to make a large weight loss seem achievable.

Before:
185.9kgs (408 pounds) about 7 years ago, been up and down over that time...between 135 - to highest.
Now:
94.5 (around 209 pounds) - So 199 pounds from my very biggest - down 51 kg (100+ pounds) Since I started again back in August 2016. (Feel free to add me - making new friends )
