When I want to give up because it's too hard.
Along the same lines--"what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"--used this a lot when I was training for a half marathon, and now when I go cycling with my husband.4 -
Food is a wonderful, delicious, nourishing thing! But I don't have to have it all today because there are lots more days to come.5

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed,
the hands acquire shakes,
the shakes become a warning.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
OMG - an ode to caffeine inspired by Dune. You win the internet today!7 -
"Just suck it up. You'll thank me tomorrow"
And I always do5 -
"if you're tired of starting over, Stop giving up"12

I WANT MY DAMN BODY BACK5

What do you REALLY want right now?3

1) If it's brown, flush it down.
2) Shut up and try!3 -
"Oh, Fatty don't wanna eat that
Because Fatty don't wanna be fat.
Fatty don't get to eat that,
Else Fatty ain't gonna be nothin' but fat."
Usually followed up by screaming at other shoppers, "Quit looking at me!!"
Then running out the door.
I've lost so much weight after being banned from every grocery store in a tri-county area...
Oh, oh. Laughing too hard now. Hurts.13 -
New Samsung commercial "Do What You Can't". Nike "Just Do It".1

You can't manage what you can't measure... so track things!2

Will this decision help future me reach my goals? (Usually when I'm about to eat some cheesy pasta when I'm tired or emotional, the answer is always no)4

"Africa - Africa - Africa"
May not be the best reason, but I am going on a safari to Tanzania in early Aug, and I just DON'T want fat-face pics in my selfies with a lion in the background! And I need the stamina this diet will give me as well. So..."Africa!"10 -
Stop eating, woman, you're not hungry, you're tired.4

Patience + Consistency = Extraordinary Results
(I have that on a post it on the wall I stare at where I work out)3 -
Do you really want this?1

It will still be there later, it won't dissapear if you don't eat it now.2

Start as you mean to go on.
In other words, if I know it's something I won't keep up with, I change it until it seems more likely that I will.0 -
I do not accept my physical limitations as the final word, I will find a way each day to work around them to become stronger and leaner.1

I have two:
1. Where I am now is a result of yesterday's decisions; what choices do I want to make today for tomorrow?
2. Believe I can, I will do this. There is no room in my thoughts for 'what if I can't?'0 -
"Calorie deficit"
and
"Get off your *kitten*".0 -
Just because it's there doesn't mean I have to eat it.
Hunger is my friend.4 -
I have several but this one is my most used...
'Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.'4 -
Trust the process2

Life is a beautiful ride, but you have to get on the bike! (or on the road, or in the pool, or at the gym, or at the disc golf course)
The distance between dreams and reality is called discipline.0 -
You cannot become your mother.
My mom was over 500 lbs when I realized this. She had suffered more than one stroke, and terrible, terrible health problems. I had been talking care of her for two years and becoming sicker and more depressed myself.
I weighed in at 260 and it scared the heck out of me. I realized I didn't have anyone who would take care of me, and even if I did, it would be profoundly unfair to ask them to manage the problems with excessive weight. After crying my heart out, I started logging my food and making myself walk even in bad days.
I'm down to 155 more or less two and a half years later. And this mantra still motivates me.
Incidentally, I put my mom on a diet too. At first it was simple rebellion, rising to bring her a jar of Nutella or potato chips. Eventually my dad got on board, and mom is now actively participating. She is down to 340. I hope in two more years we'll have her to 200.21 -
"what will you regret more: exercising or not exercising?"
have never regretted exercising
EDIT: can also be applied to eating habits, etc. "will you regret eating the cake or not eating the cake?"4 -
"If you hadn't started, you'd still be X pounds heavier. That number is only getting bigger, why give up now?"3
-
I weigh daily.
Each morning when I awaken, I lay there contemplating that I might see a gain on the scale. I say to myself, "Get up and face the truth". And then just do it.0
