Anyone want to join me in doing an alcohol free August? I am trying to cut back/reduce alcohol, and would like to abstain from alcohol in August. Want to join me?

Count me in. Alcohol is my number one downfall - not only the calories in the drink, but the extra eating and inactivity associated with it. I'm getting a head start - starting today - hold me accountable - be checking in daily.13

Great! Wine is my downfall. When I drink wine, I take in extra calories and eat like crap. So I am hoping reducing/cutting out wine will help me bust my weight loss plateau. I can use the support as well and hope others join us!6

Hello all. I'd like to join if possible. I need an accountability partner or partner(s). I do okay in all areas except this one. I eat (fairly) well (lean protein and veggies and fruits), exercise hard three days a week (need to get in two more days, but I'm working on that), but then the night comes and I sit down after a long at work and just want to enjoy a glass or three of wine. I know it's not healthy, and I don't necessarily eat like crap, but it's extra calories I can ill afford, and what I do eat that's extra isn't necessary either. Heavy sigh. I've cut out Starbucks, I don't drink sodas (not that I was a big soda drinker), I cut out Crystal Lite because of aspartme, I don't do fast food, I drink water, I don't eat sweets ... why can't we have just one thing without gaining weight? Anyway, thanks for letting me jump on the bandwagon. I'll be joining in full force next week due to being out of town this coming weekend at a friend's mom's funeral. I have a feeling I'll be imbibing then. Thanks much.

I can relate Cindy. I gave up diet soda earlier this year avd I was a huge diet soda drinker. My weakness is wine as well. Glad to have you join us!3

I did a Dry January, and it was a great experience. Really hard at first because most of my social activities include alcohol. But after 10 days, I started sleeping better, my face lost all its puffiness...I felt great. But, alas, I like wine, and returned in moderation in February. Good luck with Alcohol-free August...it'll be tough but worth it!7

I've been alcohol free since January so count me in. My goal is one year...maybe longer. I feel so much better.16

Count me in not a big drinker but every little helps, hubby likes a scotch in the evening so if he offers me one I usually say yes, then I get the munches, must start saying no2

I will join. I normally don't drink that much anymore though. I will try to remember not to have a glass of wine. Hopefully the boyfriend doesn't by Apothic dark wine. I normally will have a root beer or cream soda in place of a beer. So I will abstain from those too.4

I'm on too. Mostly my diet is excellent until I introduce a glass of wine. Then I eat all the wrong foods.6

Thanks to everyone who is joining or has offered their support. We can do this! So many health benefits!7

Count me in! I was drinking a glass of wine a night and have now cut back to just once a week, but I'd love to cut it out completely. Good luck to all on staying dry this month!5

Very true! Good for our health and weight loss. Good for our bank accounts too!2 -
I'm in. My liver needs time to regenerate. I'm replacing my daily glass(es) of bourbon with a protein shake.6

17 days without a drink and I've dropped 9 1/2 pounds since then. Beer was my downfall, but it doesn't go well with trying to lose weight. The first week or so was tough, but now I don't miss it all and I love the results! Good luck everybody!8

So how would everyone know if I'm being good or not? I don't drink a whole a lot to begin with (honestly, only when I'm away from home, couple months) But when I do I feel guilty.0

You would have to keep yourself accountable This is just here for support. If you fall down, you get back up and try again. I'm shooting for 31/31 days this month with no alcohol.3 -
I'm in. Beer and wine are my downfall. I always wonder why I'm not seeing progress on weight loss even though I exercise so much and eat smart during the day. Night falls and out comes the alcohol and bad food choices. I would love to see how much I could actually lose by cutting out alcohol alone plus the bad choices that come along with it.7

One day in the books - for me that's a good start - very tempted last night.l2

Good job, all! Ihad set this same goal for myself before I saw this thread... So.. I'm in!chelllsea124 wrote: »Omg, me. This is what is killing me on the weekends! Did you know a shot of vodka is 96 calories?! I'M IN!
I know, right? I had been drinking a pint of vodka a night (nearly 1k calories!) and it stalled my weight loss for a long, long time. Went most of last month without drinking and have dropped 17 lbs in that short time.
Just have to take it one night at a time.9 -

So true! One night - one day at a time...and sometimes hour by hour! Congrats on losing 17 pounds!2
