Make sure you're drinking enough water. I did the low carb diet and sometimes found my body hit a lull and had to change something in order to re-kickstart my weight loss.. It will happen. You just need to be patient.6
-
How much are you eating, how are you counting your calories, and how long have you been trying to lose weight? Low carbs diets contain calories too, it makes no difference to weight loss. If you eat too many calories you will not lose weight.11

The usual two answers are (1) you aren't weighing all your food accurately enough so are actually eating more than you think or (2) it's not been long enough to give the body a chance to show the benefits of the diet.
Can you tell us how long you've been dieting for and how you measure your food?
Opening up your diary would help us identify any issues too.1 -
Are you counting calories?3

To walk 3 miles and burn 700kcal, you'd need to be nearly 800 lbs. Love, if you're not that big then your calorie estimate for walking is way off! You'd not be losing if you are those calories back.
Please use 0.3* your weight * miles for more accurate estimates.9 -
How are you getting 700 cals for a 3 mile walk? I average right around 100 cals a mile doing an 18 min mile at 170 lbs. that could be your problem in addition to not counting calories.6

My nutritionist said you have to eat to lose weight. Are you getting enough calories? Its also about WHAT you eat. Make sure you are getting enough micro-nutrients and calories each day so you do not go into "starvation mode". Don't eat more carbs that your weight (i.e. 170 lbs = 170 g carbs per day), and don't eat additional calories that you earn from your walking/exercise. (Turn that off on MFP.) I've been following those guidelines for a couple of weeks and I have lost five pounds, easy peasy. I feel like I'm eating all the time, but it's very balanced and I track everything. EVERYTHING. Carbs, protein, and veggie for every meal/snack. Balance. The trick is to fuel your body but still have a deficit. You may want to go to your doctor and get a wellness exam to figure out your accurate weight, height, BMI, etc. and then you'll know how many calories to consume each day. Overall, remember it takes extreme patience to lose weight. Don't give up!! Good luck!35

-Weight loss is not determined by what you eat, but only by how much you eat
-Starvation mode doesn't work like that
-I lost weight eating lots of carbs. And Blue Zone countries have a carb-heavy diet and people still lose/maintain fine.
-Unless your nutritionist gave you a set calorie goal, MFP is meant for you to eat exercise calories back, and you can only turn the setting off if you're a Premium subscriber14 -

so much inaccurate information in one post...how is that possible....
Okay so you don't have to eat to lose weight you need to eat to live period.
Not getting enough calories means you are losing weight.
What you eat has to do with how you feel aka full or satisfied and nutrition but not weight loss.
Starvation mode does not exist in the sense you are speaking of....if it did we wouldn't have anorexia would we.
Carbs to weight why not? Macros again have nothing to do with weight loss.
and MFP is designed to eat back your exercise calories...
The one thing you said that was correct is the trick is to fuel your body while still having a deficit.

wow, so much garbage advice! think about what you said - if people stop losing weight because they eat so little - how does anyone starve to death???
OP, disregard this and listen to the other advice you got...8 -

How does this even make sense? As Stef said, you need to eat to live, and food is your fuel. You need a calorie deficit to lose weight and that is it. Balanced macros are good for nutrition but not necessary for weight loss. With that being said, I think the more balanced the diet, the more sustainable the weight loss will be. Low carb does not necessarily mean low calorie. You need to accurately log your calories AND your exercise. There is no way you are losing 700 calories on a three mile walk.6 -
Calorie deficit for weight loss.
Exercise for health.
There's no way you'd be burning that much walking 3 miles. I don't even burn that much running 3 miles.
Are you counting calories? Low carb is not a magic weight loss diet. You still need to count calories?
How long have you been trying to lose weight? How much have you lost so far? How long have you "not lost anything"?3 -

Yes, I'm envious of anyone who can get 700kcal from a 3-mile walk. I ran 5 miles last night and burned less than 500!

Wow, did anyone answer the OP question without debating. This is why people don't answer back. There is a debating section.8

did you? and what was the question?3 -

Sometimes it necessary to ask questions to get more info to determine what the problem is. If the OP is counting a 3 mile walk as burning 700 calories, that's an easy place to start to answer the question of why she's not losing.2 -

Yes. I did.2 -
Some much debating I stopped reading, good someone answered.5

Incorrect information has to be corrected in order to help the readers. I don't see where you answered the OP2 -

Mine was the 5th post, before any "debate" began.

I am not going to debate about too much debating. Have a nice day.5

Someone posted a lot of bad advice and several people wanted to correct it.
OP did not give us nearly enough information to give her anything other than vague advice.
I'm not sure you understand what a debate is.

OP, as others have said, we need more info: Height, weight, how many calories are you eating, are you using a food scale, how long has it been since you lost weight. If you'd be willing to open your diary, that would be super too!2 -
I'm cycling about 40-60 miles per week, lifting twice per week, and rock climbing on the weekend and I'm not losing weight either...because I'm eating maintenance calories.
Exercise doesn't default to weight loss...and you aren't burning 700 calories walking 3 miles unless you're about 800 Lbs.2
