Diet pills and supplements

Do you have a supplement set up? Do you take diet pills?
Pros and cons of taking either? Or both?
Or do you just do the good ol' diet and exercise.
I want to know what y'all do.
I personally am just sticking to a diet and exercise.

Just the good ol' diet and exercise. Diet pills don't work, and those that do are illegal.6

The only supplements I take are iron, B12 and folic acid due to being prone to anemia. Diet pills on the shelves don't really work, and the ones out there that do are illegal because they tend to be fatal in the long run (not saying what it's called, but there's one that raises your core temp so high that it eventually leads to death via heat exhaustion).1

I had bariatric surgery which was a life changer for sure. I still have to stay in my calorie goal.
Most diet pills have caffeine or ephedrine. I fear stimulants so I never tried.
I also tried orlistat/alli which binds fat so it can't be digested. No permanent results on that.
Oh yeah, PGx which is a fiber pill. The idea is that your stomach will fill before you eat. It does no harm. I don't bother with that.
I tried a replica Soylent recently as a replacement meal. It had an interesting effect on my appetite. It nearly erased it completely. Probably because my craves are all crunchy. It also turns my pee a light green.2 -
Nah, don't need that crap. All it does is make your wallet lighter.
Been there, done that. Many times, unfortunately.
I only take a multivitamin and mineral supplement.2 -

I just realized protein powder would be considered a supplement. I use that as well a few times a week!

This, plus I take D3 (I was deficient and now remain on the low end of normal) and Biotin for my hair + nails. No other supplements needed.0 -
I am not ashamed to say I am a long time user of Hydroxycut Max for Women (not the pro clinical one). A lot of people say they make them feel jittery but it's mostly caffeine so I don't take them before I eat, I take them 15 minutes to an hour before I work out. They really help me get through some seriously tough workouts. I work 55 - 70 hours every week so without them, I don't have the energy to push as hard as I do. I don't rely on them for curbing my hunger or for getting rid of my excess weight on their own; I workout 5 - 6 times a week and I eat extremely healthy 85 - 90% of the time.
**Anyone who feels like they need to reply to my response on how I shouldn't do this because it's not healthy, etc, please do me a favor and save it. I'm not interested in your personal assessment of my choices, thanks.25 -
Pills do not work. I bought some from a stand at a fitness convention and they made them seem like they were magic pills. $60 loss and months later I realized that they weren't. Don't waste your money. This app is free and with some determination you can get to your goals without all the extra stuff people try to sell. The only supplement I take is protein shakes. I don't use them as meal replacements. They are only consumed to help me reach my daily protein goal.0

The magic pills are much harder to find these days... mostly because they were blowing up peoples hearts.3 -
I take ZMA (Zinc, Magnesium, and B6), also vitamin C. None of that has to do with weight loss though, it has more to do with general health and building strong bones and muscles. Diet pills only help reduce the size of your wallet, not your figure.0

i love how people who say diet pills are "ineffective" have never tried them or at least didn't find the "magic" ones. but that's what you get on MFP. They are indeed drugs and they mostly
do blow up your heart. but don't say they don't work just because you thought taking fiber via pill was
gonna make you lost weight.. in that case yes you really are dreaming.
I am interested in hearing from anyone who has taken the newer prescription contrave with the craving cutting component (the antidepressant component is just a bunch of hoey but i can see some real promise in cutting at the craving center.) we all know qsymia will work as people have been taking both components on their own for years, although i'd rather take topamax than blow up my heart with phen. and belvique is probably a bunch of hoey but i guess time will tell if it has been taken off the market (remember meridia? it's an maoi and it's off market.)9 -

There is nothing wrong with a great deal of good fat burners on the market.
They don't burn fat, they give you the tools to burn fat.
Increased metabolism
Increased energy (to burn more calories)
Suppress appetite (helping calorie deficite)
Which all result in losing weight.

And since the majority of them are just caffeine laden and the body can build a tolerance to them, they dosage needs to either be upped or a stronger stimulant needs to be used.

caffeine pills are cheaper and would do the same thing for you. Just saying.7 -

Unless they teach you how to eat the right amount of food and get the right amount of burn for the weight you want to maintain for the rest of your life, they don't work.
They promote the line of thought that being overweight is like a disease that you can cure by losing weight, and once you're cured, you don't have to worry about it anymore.4
