    @Elise4270 and @_nikkiwolf_ - People like that are so annoying. Clearly they are just trying to trivialize your accomplishments and yet, they are just showing how out of touch they are. At least the 8 minute mile claimicouldbe's might have some memory of that pace when they were younger and lighter - but to say you could walk 26 miles in 4 hours and so running one in that time is just a waste - well that is rude and out of touch. Anything under 4 hours is a BQ time for 50 year old women and while I am too lazy right now to calculate the per mile time on that - I suspect it is not much over a 9 minute mile. Walking at that pace for that distance?

    You are both amazing runners and do not let those people get under your skin! Of course I know that must be hard because I DON'T EVEN KNOW THEM AND THEY ARE UNDER MY SKIN AND MAKING IT CRAWL, hehe.

    @HonuNui yeh for “embrace the suck” team!
    @garygse great run
    @juliet3455 sounds like the drop to a walk was a good idea.
    @cameronheel good luck today!
    @dcorrick congrats on goal

    Didn't sleep worth a crap last night, tossing and turning like crazy. Skip came in around 1:00 she said I was yelling in pain. No clue. Sitting here deciding if I'm going to run. I think I'll do a few miles to make me happy. LOL

    Oh wow, what a beautiful morning. Just 48 degrees heading out for the long run, although 93% humidity. Still, it felt like fall and that made for a great running day. Hooked up with a few different groups of people during the run for lots of conversation, and there were quite a few hills. The overall pace was a bit slow for what I would usually try for, but it was a good run and I felt so much better than last week.

    IME - normal people walk around 3mph - so for a normal person to walk 26.2 miles would take around 8 hour hours. So yeah, 4 hours is not happening. :smiley:

    Nice and cool today, but I got going late and had the rising sun in my face all the way back. As compensation, once I hit 4.2 miles I rewarded myself with running as fast and far as I felt like and had a nice speedy final quarter of a mile. Brains are weird; I'd spent the entire fourth mile plodding along, wanting to be done, and then once I'd reached "done" and didn't "have to" run, I wanted to run more.

    Not sure I'll reach my goal this month. Six miles between Monday and Thursday is physically entirely doable, but Wednesday and Thursday are high-parental-need nights, and it may not be easy to get away. We'll just have to see!

    August Goal: Not die while ramping up running mileage and technicality during 100K training
    Nominal mileage goal: 250 miles HAHAHAHA not gonna happen

    Today's notes: Got up early and headed to the ski resort. It was a wet, drizzly day out there. Today was a Long Run/ Hill workout day. I ended up running 12x1 mile hill repeats for a total of 24.1 miles. The ski slopes were great for running on, the grass made for decent footing. Once I got on the snowshoe trails however, it got not so fun. THICK, STICKY mud. The mud really slowed me down, but I kept at it. uphills were pretty taxing on the legs, but cardio was good, sometimes too good, as in HR was below z1, but my legs were TIRED, so I took it easy, walking the entirety of uphills 8-11. To make up for that, I gunned it uphill 12 and set a new Strava SR on the hill climb!

    Quick stats:
    Total distance: 24.1 miles
    total Time: 5:15:04
    Total Ascent: 4108
    Average pace: 13:00
    Average HR: 140

    Have a Runderful day everyone!

    @skippygirlsmom Thank you.

    Race report on my first official 10 k: Great weather. Cool breeze and temp of 76 at race start.

    My goal was to finish in under 1 hour which I have been able to do a couple of times on practice runs. I went out way, way too fast and let my adrenaline get the best of me. I ran my first mile in 7:39 which is about 20 secs better than my 1st mile pace in my last 5K in May. I knew I would pay for it during the last 1/2 of the race and I did.

    I was able to maintain pace better than I thought I would though. My mile splits for the rest of the race were: 2nd mile - 7:59, 3rd mile - 8:17, 4th mile - 8:24, 5th mile - 8:57, and 6th mile - 9:03. Overall time was chip timed at 53:17 with a 5th place overall finish. It was a local charity race so the competition was not elite, but I did finish first in my age group, so that was exciting. I am quite pleased with this being my first 10K and now have a time to shoot for in the next one.

    Thanks to everyone on this board for the motivation you all provide. Now it's time to eat back some of these calories I burned. Have a good weekend y'all.

    Awesome job - first 10K, so a PR, and an AG 1st place and 5th overall. Enjoy it all!

    26/08 4.16 miles - missed yesterdays run as hubby and I went for dinner to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. It was on Aug 1st but only got around to it as it's been such a hectic time. Why is everyone so busy! I'll be happy to make 50 miles this month, 60 is definitely gone.

    @MobyCarp - sorry to see you are injured and wish you a speedy recovery

    @wandavaughn you are/were in Huntsville and didn’t tell me or did you and I missed it. What race did you run? I would have come out to meet you! Super run – congrats on the PR.

    I did the Dog Jog in downtown Huntsville. Started and finished at the roundhouse. The weather was great and the houses are so pretty. The puppies everywhere were fun to be around. Loved running with them - nobody could hear my panting over the dogs'! :smiley:

    Just say the word-we can meet up and run the greenway together.

    @kristinegift - Choco cherry is no joke. Friend and I, when brave enough for that one, would split it...
