I'm 5'11.5" with I think a medium frame. I currently weigh 177 pounds and have a goal weight of 150 which would be a size 8 for me. Any lower than that would be unhealthy for me. I am currently a size 12/ Large.

Hey tallies ----
I'm 54yrs old and 5ft 8.5" - formerly 5ft 9.5" or rounded up to 5ft 10" - and the shortest person in my family other than my 7yr old grandson...the women in my family are all 5ft 10" and taller, the men all over 6ft at least.
SW: 301 in May 2016
CW: 261 in Aug 2017
GW: 177
++ some might ask me why 177 and I'd say it's because I'm not sure what anything less than that looks like. That's what I weighed when I was playing college basketball in 1982 and in the best shape of my life. I lost sight of all that many years ago, and have struggled with my weight past 200 since gaining a huge amount during pregnancy with my daughter - who is now 33yrs old. I've used the excuse of "we're all just really big people" for years, but I can't stand myself at the 300 pound mark. I'm just now getting more comfortable, but my joints hurt and I really struggle with exercise. I keep reading all these posts about "lifting heavy" and want to know more about that. I really REALLY need to work on my core muscles, because everything else after that falls into place for me. I'm naturally very curvy, always have been, and don't expect that will change. At one point in my life I was 386 pounds at 29yrs old. I found Overeaters Anonymous, and followed their HOW program religiously with the result being 191 pounds when I had a major life event change everything. I was 40yrs old, I decided to quit smoking and had a full hysterectomy. My weight eased up about 10 pounds a year steadily. In 2014 my job ended and I had to go out on the road as a consultant...I went from 242 to 301 from Oct 2014 to May 2016 when I returned home to Vegas and no more traveling. Since then, I've been using MFP again pretty recently, and have been tracking my food intake better. It's helping, but I need to start incorporating a more substantial workout routine. I'll post photos when I'm at home.
Much love and respect from Vegas,
Dorrie aka TrulyDivyn9 -

Your stats are very similar to mine. I'm 51, 5'8", SW 300, GW 175. And I picked that weight randomly because it's what I weighed on my wedding day! Once I got there, I wanted a little more, so I'm currently maintaining around 166. Every one told me to lift heavy too--and I did--for one year now and it's been fantastic. I've showed these pics before, but I'll post here again so you can see the effects of that advice. Feel free to friend me if you want to talk specifics.

Wow you look fantastic, and CHECK OUT THOSE ARMS :-)5 -
@JulieSHelms - !! you look amazing! I want those arms! (yunno, in a non-creepy, not arm removal way )
I will get there!5 -
I love this threat, but do all the photobucket users know that we can't see your photos - for instance, TallGirl1960, I would love to see your journey but this is all that shows

5'11 this is so motivating!0

I'm 5'7" so I might be a little short for y'all but I'm joining in anyway

I'm 5"11, starting weight 324.8 a year ago! Currently 246.9, goal weight 195? Not sure just taking it day by day27 -
I'm 5"9 and hit my heaviest in December 2016. I haven't had a weigh in since July 22, 2017 so my stats are slightly off. I weigh in Monday (we don't keep a scale in the house so I only weigh in on visits to my parents' house). My current goal is to be under 200lbs by January 2018, 71lbs in a year felt like a reasonable first goal. After that, I have no idea what goal weight I'll be shooting for, or what my body will even look like.
Aside from non-scale victories, I also ran my first 5K race on August 26, 2017 and I'm currently in training for my next big goal - a 10K race on November 4, 2017.
Stats:
SW: 270lbs
CW: 229.7lbs
GW: 199lbs, then more!

I decided to just go cold turkey and start eating clean. Today was Day One. Feeling great about this decision, but it's late at night and to prepare mentally for tomorrow, I Googled "Before/After Photos" for my height. Ended up here...then I read one of my own earlier posts in this thread and realized I have been here before! Surge of enthusiasm and confidence to see all your lovely photos and read the stories. I'm baack, baby!
Height: 5'8.5" -- Age 52
SW: 176.4 (yesterday morning)
GW: 150 or less - not sure yet
26.4 lbs HAS to be doable. What so many of you have done inspires me SO much. It seems insurmountable, but it just HAS to be possible. Thank you to all posters here.6 -

So I'm 5' 8" and SW 178. Based on my height I should be around 155-160 lbs. I've been to 160lbs and feel 155 would be too thin for me. Right now I just want to feel comfortable in my skin. I look forward to hearing about your journey.3 -
I can't find a before pic at the moment. This is from last week. I'm 5'11.5"
SW: around 190
CW: 166
GW: ~150

Lol - posted this as a Halloween costume success story but I’ll add it here, too, cuz I am starting to feel like Wonder Woman! (We all are - we can totally do this!)
40 years old, 5’9” and a “smidge”
SW: 284
CW: 171ish (middle pic was about 184-ish, I think)
GW: 155ish - depends on how I can change with lifting.
Been “stuck” a bit (of my own making) cause work/travel has been crazy and my logging/tracking haven’t been precise but apparently I found my maintenance! But after this week I am back home for the foreseeable future so I will get back at it. Slow and steady wins the race and I know what I have to do!!

Keep calm and carry on with exercise and healthy eating!
This is an absolutely false statement. (yes, I'm just now seeing this) but this is in itself misleading. As someone who is 5'10, and used to weigh 135. I played sports and was in fantastic shape. My smallest pants size was a 10 and my rib cage was too wide to fit into a medium shirt, even though I was on the lowest end of the weight scale and had a BMI of 14. So don't spread false rumors.
