Woke up this morning and my calves were so sore! Looked it up, and it looks like delayed onset muscle soreness, and that it is ok to run with it. So, I ran. It took me until 6pm to get up the will to do so, but I made it!31

Went shopping over the Labor Day weekend for the first time in forever and bought size small clothing.
Don't get me wrong - vanity sizing is most definitely a thing and I still have a ways to go in my mind.
But it's the first time as an adult or even heck as a teenager that I've been able to fit into a size small anything. I haven't even been out of plus sizes for most of the past decade so you can't imagine how exciting and validating this is to know I am smaller.30 -

(Apologies - Digression from actual NSVs:)
Yes. And this is not the only symptom.
The more people who realize this - you are an athlete now - the better.
If you are striving hard for improved speed, flexibility, coordination, strength, physical capability, etc. . . . you are athlete now. Own it.

I've tried the gym, swimming & even running but I could only stick a routine for a couple of weeks before I'd cave.
6 weeks ago I happened to see a Zumba video (the amazing RefitRev lassies) on YouTube & it looked quite fun. I did 4 songs worth & was dripping in sweat but boy, did I have a good time! Slowly building myself up I was so proud each time I mastered a routine without having to watch the girls' every move & found when I work hard, I can even keep up with them! (Crazy In Love near offed me, I can tell you!)
As I'm typing this just now, I'm soaking sweat through my (new & smaller) sportswear having just completed 8 songs - giving it my all to the highest intensity I can...back to back. Grand totalling a full 30 minute workout!
Never ever did I think I would stick something out this long & STILL look forward to doing it everyday. If I plan some time & it gets scuppered, I ACTUALLY get disappointed!!
It's even spurred me into doing strength training twice a week too ..without complaint. Not to mention I have the stamina for longer doggie walks too. My clothes are all too big & I am starting to see muscle tone under the fat all over. I don't know how many inches I've lost, but since I joined MVP 23 days ago I've gone down 2-3 on all the main body parts. A drastic overhaul of my diet has helped tremendously too & after ironing out some tweaks, I never feel hungry or deprived which I feel so fortunate for.
I know this is non scale victories, but I've lost 16lb in these past 6 weeks (7 while on MFP) & for the first time, I feel like I can keep going. My DP is me 3 years ago at my lightest in recent years. I was happy to be there but in reality, still needed to lose a lot more weight. Instead of keeping on, I let it all slide. I'm now just 3lb off that DP weight & this time, I REALLY want to go all the way. It's a long road & a hecka lotta pounds(about 100!!) but at the moment, I really feel I can do it!
So sorry for the long post, but i really am on cloud 9 today & I've not shared what I'm doing with anyone in my life except my husband. Guess I'm just worried the pressure will cause me to fail (for the umpteenth time), so if you read all of this drivel, thank you so much. It really does mean a lot!
Edit: oop & don't worry, I'm away for a shower now haha!
I just love this!! The RevFit ladies (and a few other YouTube channels like it) were my re-introduction to fitness! And then it also lead to strength training and other changes! Dancing to those songs gave me such a realistic goal to pursue (I would do the same song on repeat until I felt I could actually follow along decently) and also just made the 30mins of exercise fly. Yay!! I'm so happy for you!!
Thank you so much, your message was a real boost. So glad you also found fun in exercise with a wee bit of dancing too! Do you have any other recommendations for channels? I've just stuck with refit so far but I know there will come a time I will want to change it up!
I loved the fact they have videos for everyone to enjoy, no matter their limitations....fast...slow...medium....high impact...low impact....just brilliant! And it is boggling how the minutes just melt away!. I moved from six songs to eight when I started to say "awww, is that it??" Never thought I'd see that day!9 -
I actually have a body type that isn't apple. I thought I was apple shaped because I was overweight. But now that I'm thin enough to see my body underneath, I can check it out and measure it up! I'm a pear!27

Thanks! I've experienced doms when I rode horses after not doing so for a while, but I only rode once a week, so there was never any pushing through the pain. I've always had the "athletic body shape" so I'm excited to see if I can actually make my body do athletic things. I'm glad that I have this thread because it is really encouraging to see what other people have accomplished, and it is nice to be able to celebrate the small victories along the way.11 -

LOL! That's such a weird comment. How did you respond to that? What are "doms "?
Delayed onset muscle soreness. I had to copy and paste that, as I always forget. It just means having some soreness after working out.
Asked my personal trainer yesterday if we could start working with more free weights. I started with 20lb deadlifts and 5lb dumbbell bicep curls/shoulder press combo. The form and coordinations are a total cluster of the mind, and I thought I was about to die on the 3rd set of the DBs, but I completed everything! My trainer even said that I would not have been able to do this a month ago.9 -
Just noticed the typo in my previous post. Whoops!
I just told her I'd started running. She shook her head and said "oh, I could never do that".9 -
My muscles are sore today - which is a cool thing since before that would have meant I slept wrong or something. In this case its because I've been working them!21

When I purchased my Thinx undies set all of them were fitting quite snug as I think I may have had to get the largest size offered or that was the largest size they had in stock at the time I can't remember Well yesterday when I put on a pair that make up the set they were actually loose and they are worn for reasons where bloating is normal....HIP HIP HOORAY!!! #teamdroopydrawers
This is off topic - but do they really work?! I keep thinking about getting some but haven't yet.3 -
Yesterday I did a full on twenty minutes workout, and wore ankle weights for the first ten. I have not done this in at least a year so I'm very pleased. I just decided to keep on going.
I also bought the weights yesterday, 1 kilo each I think. And a new yoga block so I can make my workouts harder and adjust things to my level. I'm so happy about this:)
I had my birthday and instead of giving up I logged all of my food so I could get back on track the day after.
I just feel a lot better overal, less tired and more fit18 -
This. So kitten happy!

Caught my reflection in a mirror tonight while out at a pub quiz and thought 'wow! I look different!'
Wearing a top that didn't fit for over a year, heels that don't hurt my feet as much as they did before, and doing my hair properly because putting effort in didn't seem pointless. I've only lost nearly 2st out of the ~ 12st I need to, but I felt attractive today for the first time in forever!40 -
I am no longer picking shirts based off of "what will hide the poochy belly best".32

Bought a smaller,size, a bit snug, but 3 sizes down23

Was craving pasta,
Drove to our neighborhood pizza place. While waiting in line figured I would log my pasta...
Looked at MFP ...saw how calorie laden my pasta was!!!

Oh My Stars!
2 days worth of calories!!!!
Oh heck no!
Ordered my family's pizza went down the street to my market and picked up healthy choices for the next couple of days.
Went back and picked up the pizzas for family.
Decided my next mini goal when I hit 190 (with a nice work out that evening), will be my pasta!35 -
I went through an entire deadlifting workout in my gym (where I was the only female in the free weight section) wearing a crop top. May not be a big deal to many, but I still have severe body image issues and have only recently started being brave enough to remove my vest top in classes where there are only females, worrying more about what others think than my comfort.
Well guess what the world didn't end, no-one batted an eyelid, and I was so much more comfortable without a sweaty vest top sticking to my back.32 -
I have been feeling very down recently, no end of health, family and marital problems all piled on top of having quit smoking at the beginning of the year and working on weight loss since March. Although I've lost 20 kilos (very nearly a quarter of my start weight) nobody has said a word, which hurts.
Long story short, after a huge row with my husband last night I found myself desperate to walk out of the door to the nearest shop and buy cigarettes and chocolate. The NSV being that I didn't, I sat (ok cried) the night out then put my trainers on this morning and ran the emotions out instead. Me, running instead of smoking or eating when the going gets tough. So many NSVs all in one, I could almost be happy about it.

@eleanorhawkins I want to tell you that I am very proud of you. I am sorry that you are going through so much right now, but just know that there is someone out here who is proud of what you have accomplished and also excited about your NSV!22

My own NSV yesterday was logging the VENTI salted caramel mocha frappucino from Starbucks that I had. Overall it was a bad eating day, but I didn't go over my calories as I thought I would, even with the huge indulgence and I shy away from logging everything that I put into my mouth.20

Love the feeling of, each morning, choosing my work clothes for the day based on what I feel like wearing rather than what fits or which clothing is the least tight!24
