What are your fitness goals?

Nothing particular at the moment. I've spent the last few years training for various cycling events practically full time...This season I've just been out enjoying my rides and the scenery with the exception of once per week I do hill repeats or sprint intervals. I do try to PR a 20K about once per month but I'm starting to push the envelope in regards to what my bike can actually do as it is an endurance road bike designed more for long endurance rides and not a pure racer or aero...
It's been a nice change of pace and it's been nice to not be tethered to a training protocol and be more flexible...if I want to miss a ride to go rock climbing, no biggie.
I'll probably pick a couple of events next season and just train specifically for those events...I figure with where I'm at, I can easily pick up an 8 week program to train...but I'll likely forgo the whole event after event after event thing going forward.
I'm watching my wife train for a 1/2 marathon in Lisbon right now and I can tell she just wants to be done and to get back to her normal and more flexible running routine...but that race will be pretty epic and one she'll never forget.
I guess my goal this year is to just enjoy it all and take in the scenery...0 -
I'd like to be able to run a 5K in under 30 minutes (still at 34-37), be able to run a 10k (no time goals yet), and I'd like to be able to do real push-ups (I still have to do them off the back of a chair, I can't even do a half push-up). And lastly I want to keep all the weight I worked so hard to lose, off!1

Run my first triathlon Oct 8.
Get my body fat down to 10% (23% atm)
Run a 6 minute mile by my 55th birthday

I have lots of them. Ultimately to be healthy and a good example. Bench 1.5x my body weight, squat 2x my bodyweight, 1.5 mile in 10 minutes0

Train for the 10k... your 5k time will improve.1 -

For next season I'm undecided at the moment. Possible goals are a 50 miler, or longer doubles. To an extent all of my marathons next season should be an improvement on this year. I was very ill in February, which disrupted my training badly and I've still not really recovered from, so I'll take January off from running to recover from the season, before picking up my mileage again.
I've already booked one marathon for next year, and will probably book another six towards the end of the month.
Amazing! Well done
My goal is to run my first marathon next October.
Seems a mile off at the moment as I currently can't stand up with out my back brace on but I'll get there.0 -

Funny ...
Someone once asked me how to make a century (100 miles in one day on the bicycle) feel more comfortable.
I told them to ride a double century (200 miles in one day on the bicycle).

Enjoying myself. Getting stronger and faster and maintaining, if not improving, my flexibility are awesome too, but they're secondary goals.0

I bought a couple compression shirts. And underwear slightly smaller then comfortable. Keeps "things" in place without rubbing.1 -

I've got a tank top, wicking, neon yellow. It hangs in my closet. Every few months I'll notice it, forget I have it, then go for a run. My nipples want me to stop forgetting
Goal: 17 minute 5k0 -

run a half marathon in less than 1:45. Half is in 2 weeks! 1.5 back squat: i am 7.5kg away from this at the moment. Link 10 strict pull ups. Only on 4 at the moment so this is a long goal! I have a CrossFit competition in November but for that i just want to try my best. Next years goals I am undecided about yet. I really want to improve my strength but I am not sure to what extent or really how. I am just enjoying my CrossFit, running and netball really.0

Working on my strength. I have been doing Stronglifts for five weeks, and love it. I'm contemplating doing a powerliftiing meet next year.0

Manage to do unmodified deep-abs jackknifes on a stability ball. I can do the modified (ball under thighs, roll to knees), but starting with the ball under my shins just has me sliding off.
I have some coordination issues that make these exercises challenging, but I'm perservering.1 -

"Funny" as in interesting, amusing, it made me smile
We both basically said the same thing.0 -
Amateur MMA (cage) fight (at age 43) after the first of the year, because hey, what can und go wrong?1

- Have fun.
- Feel great.
- Improve my rowing (technique & speed, endurance).
- Maintain strength (in rowing season; build during off season)
- Maintain cardiovascular fitness (measures like RHR, timing of HR decrease after exertion)
- Make myself swim a little during off season, no matter how much I hate it, because drowning looks bad on a rower
- Defer necessity of a permanent move to the assisted living facility for another 20+ years (I'm 61).

I set my goals before I understood how much weights REALLY weigh.
I wanted to back squat more than my body weight, deadlift more than my body weight, pullups, chinups and bench press 155 lbs.
I have killed all except the bench press. Still working toward that goal. Have made it to 145 lbs.

currently it is:
- Run 17 5Ks in 2017 (I think i've run 6 so far? Got 11 more to go in 3 1 /2 months LOL)
- Drop down to 135-145lbs (which is about 60-70 lbs away)
That's it so far...then I think by then i'll be fit enough to rejoin MMA again after an 8 year hiatus1 -
I want to be stronger, I want to able to do real push ups and pull ups, strengthen my core
Being able to do real pushups is a goal of mine too! I can hold plank for 90+ seconds and chaturanga in yoga with no trouble, but try to rise up again after lowering down and forget it! They're hard!0 -
KaleidoscopeEyes8 wrote: »I have a few goals right now:
- Get to 20% body fat (about 25 lbs away)
That's kind of one of mine too. A couple of months ago I was around 21.5%, but it's that last ~2% that's going to be the hardest, I'm sure. I don't have a regular way to measure it either, so that's kind of what is stopping it from being a tangible goal for me.
I've never been particularly thin, so this is a rather ambitious goal for me. However, my gym has an in-body machine available to members, so I check on that every 4-6 weeks or so.
Good luck to you and let me know how it goes!
I've lost 70lbs of fat in the last couple of years, so I HANDS DOWN understand the struggle. However, I'm getting there, so I think you can too! Good luck!1 -

I was heading into bulking season but I've torn my tfcc and now will have to have surgery and spend all those weeks recovering. Soooo, I guess for now, it's sticking with maintenance, getting in some running and finding some resistance that doesn't involve my wrist but still works my upper body.0
-
Thank you everyone for your answers! It's nice to see a couple that I've been thinking but wasn't really sure if they counted as goals, so now I feel better about them!
For those who are curious, that would mean my goals are: lower body fat percentage to less than 20% (currently about 1.5% away), cut down on body fat in general to be able to see my abs and my arm muscles (mostly through diet, by cutting as much added sugar as I can), to look fit and not just skinny, and be able to do real pushups.
Lastly, it's not really a goal so much as a hope, but I'd like to see the little bit of excess skin I have from my weight loss go away. :-)1 -
To lose weight, improve flexibility and recomp a bit to have more muscle and less fat.1

My long term goal is to be able to complete a Spartan race, clean. Meaning no failed obstacles.
Shorter term is to be able to get my first Spartan Trifecta in 2018.1 -
My goals - Get as strong as possible and lower BF%. No numbers in mind, just going until I feel the best I ever have.1
-
Longer term....
I'm currently at Olympic distance triathlons, want repeat some of my races and improve my times next year and finish the season off with a half-iron and take it from there.2 -
I am pretty much done with losing weight. I am now within 5 pounds of goal, so most of my goals moving forward are running related. My first half is coming up on the 24th, which I am really excited about. Naturally I want to be able to complete a marathon as well. I am not in a major rush with this, but I don't want to drag my feet and get comfortable where I am at either. I want to continue to improve in both distance and speed at a steady rate.
I am also really into hiking, and my dream hike right now is to be able to complete all 486 miles of the Colorado Trail while camping along the way. I follow several hikers on YT that have done it and documented their trip and I plan to do the same one day.2
