Ran in the rain. It was sprinkling when I started and then came down. Last year I would have used it as an excuse to quit. This year I was like "I'm already out, might as well finish." And I did.36

Received the Monarch Migration badge from Fitbit b/c I traveled 2,500 miles. Have been averaging 3+ miles per day at least five days a week with dog. Most of the time before work, this from a NON-morning person.26

Oh so many, so many of them!!
1. On Saturday evening, wore a completely unforgiving, form fitting dress and went for a party. You have no idea how unlike this is to the normal me. Danced my head off. I am still receiving compliments from the friends I went with.
2. Met a friend for brunch on Sunday. She could not stop raving about how much I have cleaned up my eating. We got really nostalgic about my unhealthy eating habits during college. She was really pleasantly surprised by the change.
3. The friend and I made plans to run a 5k in December. Me. Running. A. 5k. Some time back, I would make any excuse to avoid running including the excuse that I have Morton’s triad which makes it impossible for me to run. Honestly, my endurance was *kitten* and I was way too overweight. Anyway, I now have a standing running date 3 times a week with the said friend (she recently moved near me).
4. Went shopping. Asked for an XL, tried an L, bought a medium. Sales assistants now tell me that “oh, you need a medium, L will be too big.”
5. My work feedback came. It is absolutely clean. I am making no mistakes. It is because of increased energy and sharpened focus that I am now performing better.
The only downer is my HbA1C, which came back 5.9. but now I have a goal to work towards. This can be counted as an NSV as well, actually. I wouldn’t dare get my blood checked 3-4 months back. I am now more open and not afraid of negatives. I know I can correct them. It will take time, but it will be done.
Oh what a fantastic weekend it was..

My family was teasing me about my triceps which have always been batwings. I flexed and said not for long! You could actually see my bicep muscle and the tricep is less flappy.28

2. I can cross my legs again. Might sound silly but this is a big one for me. My jeans are loose in the stomach and thighs.23

I finally caved and agreed to try Ju Jitsu with my husband! I don't know why I didn't want to but I realized it wasn't going to hurt me to try it and see if I like it We found a studio and I'm going to their fundamentals class on Sat to see what I think!28

Went to the doctor today and first thing she said was,"Wow, you've lost weight!" Last time I saw her a few months ago, she didn't notice my 35 lbs lost, but now that I'm 70 lbs down, I guess it's that much more noticible. It's great to hear someone else notice it because I've been kind of down lately thinking that I look the same now as I did just 20 lbs ago.32

I did jiu jitsu with my kids years ago, until the instructor got too creepy with his sexual comments, and I LOVED it! Got up to a purple belt. It's a lot of repetition, but an amazing workout. Can't wait to hear how this goes for you!9 -

Just tried on new suit jacket I bought 1.5 years ago because I outgrew my older suits, it is way too big, tried on older jacket it is still too big. Went for the 38" pants hiding in back of closet and got them buttoned where they should be (at belly button). Gone forever are the 42/44 stretch waist pants I had been buying. I am 154 days into my new life, down 38lbs and a MFP member for life. Thanks everyone as I couldn't have done it without your posts and support. I really can't believe how good this feels...39

I did my first machine overhead presses today. Beforehand I couldn't even lift the bars on the machine without it hurting like crazy, now I can actually do sets.32

You've no idea how much your successes spur me on! You get me thinking about things that apply to me & I've not even considered...
I've had a few NSV this week
1) Went through my wardrobe & am in outfits I've not worn for about 3 years. Sadly I did this too late in the game (Had I done it a wee bit earlier I'd have had a couple of weeks wear!) & found a few autumn dresses that have to go to the charity shop as they are decidedly baggy. On the plus side, I found more that I do fit in but that are only just "in the window". Next month I think they will be big too...
2) My workpal kept running her hands up and down my sides while squealing "look at this waist!" Love her, she's been so supportive & I hadn't even broached the subject of weight loss with her, she just keeps noticing little things & telling me which is such a massive boost.
3) I saw workout gear that I really liked & decided to treat myself but I was worried they wouldnt fit because they were generic "L" or "M" in a shop that had them on special, instead of from an actual clothing shop & tbh, those types of sizing have always been beyond me. I reasoned that I'd fit into them at some point & it'd be a shame to not get them. L trousers & an M top as they didn't have L. Got them home & they fit like a glove. I was super surprised.
4) Don't know if this counts, but as I've increased my workouts I've been retaining water more but I keep going. Thanks to everyone on these boards, I realise it's impossible for it to be fat. (YAY FOR CICO!) Gone are the days of scale frustration!

Had my 6th Stronglifts workout scheduled today . I'm really new to weight lifting and am still intimidated by the gym. Had a super long day but was determined to make it there tonight. Knew I would have to bike to the gym because the car is in the shop, and I lent my motorbike to a friend. Was dead tired today after walking over 20000 steps in 40°C weather (105°F for our American friends ) . It's a lot for me considering lately I haven't topped 5000 steps in an average day. Went out to the bike to find it locked and the key on the ring that's with my friend. Now it means I have to walk, in the dark, to the gym. It's not crazy far - about 17 min each way but after the day I had I hated the idea of walking more. Sucked it up and went anyway, did my workout (deadlifted 57 kilo/125 lbs!) and just got home. Total of over 24000 steps today!41

I'm actually less than half the size I once was. My maximum weight was 387. I weigh 148 now. It's not a matter of waiting to qualify for the surgery---I have quite likely lost the most weight I can lose comfortably while remaining healthy, as my trunk and leg skin inhibit certain movements. (For example, after walking a 5K or doing a triathlon I end up with severe rashes from loose skin rubbing). Another 10 lbs would put me at a "normal" BMI, but I'm pretty content with my body fat % being below 20 prior to any removal process. I have a good 10-15 lbs of loose skin just in the areas that are causing major problems. The issue was that the surgeon went straight to pushing me to get a total lower body lift (which involves massive pain and recovery) instead of listening to my specific areas of concern. He pointed out areas that I don't feel inhibit me; for example my arms. Sure I have some loose skin there but I also have great muscle tone and definition there. Those are my battle scars from a lifetime of (super morbid) obesity. Imagine having to get naked and having someone point out all of your bodily flaws, including areas in which you have some semblance of pride or areas you hadn't considered at all (the phrase "foot and a half of loose skin on your lower back," for example). It was not pleasant.

I'm so sorry that the surgeon was so insensitive & refused to listen to you. Not only is it disrespectful of your absolutely amazing transformation, it undermines the fact that only YOU know what is best for your own body. I can only imagine how horrible that was for you after fighting so determinedly to get to where you are today.
To get the fantastic results you have, it must've taken monumental strength of both body AND mind. (I may be wrong, but I'd guess a large part of that battle was regaining control over your own body in the first place?) For this surgeon to then insinuate that THEY are the ones who know what's best for you despite your feelings is just downright insulting!
I really hope that if you still want surgery that you won't let this person put you off. Here's hoping you are able to deal with someone else who will listen to you, your concerns & your needs - it is the very least you deserve.21 -
I see three of my lower back ribs now. Also, I think I've lost an inch on my lower stomach, which is really nice!!18

I wanted to let you know, I find you and your transformation completely inspirational. I'm sorry your potential surgeon acted like a jerk.
When I was in my twenties, I severed a tendon in my thumb in an accident. It was repaired at the ER, and I followed up on it with a world-renowned orthopedic surgeon my friend recommended. Because I was unable to move the joint in question, the surgeon insisted that it had not even been reattached, that apparently the ER surgeon was just a clown who pretended to do surgery while in fact doing nothing, and that he would have to take apart my whole arm up to the elbow using general anesthesia (the original repair was done using a local.) I told him, "But I know it's attached, I can feel it trying to move, it's just still too swollen and traumatized." And he said, "I have no interest in what you feel, only what I see." Then he sent his nurse in to schedule surgery. I felt about an inch tall and was trying not to cry. Walking out of the building, I suddenly realized, maybe I do need more surgery, but there is no way this jerk is going to do it. I'm a grown person, I know my own body, and I don't have to ever speak to this *kitten* again unless I want to. In a few days I went to another orthopedic surgeon, who removed my stitches and gave me some strengthening exercises. The original repair was fine, and today I have full use of my hand. But it was that moment in the parking lot that stayed with me. Sometimes the "expert" is full of hot air, and you never have to let toxic people into your life.
I hope you don't give up and find a surgeon who is willing to respect you and listen to your goals.45 -
I had a good week on the scale too, but off the scale was more important, and indicative of progress to date. Endocrinologist appointment - Out of five daily prescriptions, we're eliminating three altogether (blood pressure, heartburn, gout) and cutting the other two in half (blood pressure, cholesterol).34
