I'm 30 years old, stay active on my days off by hiking, cycling and working out in my home gym. I'm starting to do I.F this week, hope to have great results. Anybody else doing I.F? Would love to get tips from you guys.

I practice IF during the work week. I mostly track weekly cals and macros so IF helps me to keep my calories lower during the week that way if I go out on the weekends it all balances out.1

I fast almost 7 days a week, just works as a long term plan for me. I eat around 12pm-1pm until 8pm-10pm depending on how I am feeling. I like it it works for me because I am an uncontrollable night eater so I stopped fighting it.3

That's awesome! I will be updating my progress every week. Do you guys suggest I workout before or after I eat?0

I don't really "do" IF. I just skip breakfast most days. Leaves me more calories for the afternoons and evenings.2

I read quite a few articles on I.F, I am counting my caloric intake and macro intake as well. I want to shed some fat, get lean. I have an athletic build just want to feel/be healthier.0

I'm muslim and I think fasting is really good for you! I can still doing my activity like any other day (but in the evening I usually get sleepy). I fast from 4.30 am to 6 pm. Just be sure not to losse control during breaking your fast2

There is peer reviewed double blind well designed human studies proving IF is indeed healthier. Otherwise I wouldn't have adopted it, (and healthy macros and exercise habits), for the last 18 months and lost 125+ pounds while gaining muscle mass - as a 49 y.o. post menopausal woman. I can attest personally that until I started IF, muscle gains were slow and weight loss extremely difficult, and I was hungry all the time. IF is what made the major change in my body happen quicker, without constant hunger.11

I used it as a tool to lose weight earlier this year. Just remember why you are using IF, if you are using IF because you think IF makes you lose weight, you are wrong, it's only a tool. I used it because I hated eating 5-6 small meals while trying to lose weight. IF simply solved the issue for me by having 2-3 large meals instead, but I still had to make sure that I was in a caloric deficit.
The only thing I don't like about IF is that it's not optimal for building muscles if you train fasted which I was doing. I took BCAA's based on Martin Berkhan's recommendation, but I am no scientist that can prove if that helped or not, I just took it as a precaution.
Berkhan deadlifts over 500 pounds, and he was able to reach that PR using IF to built muscle. I wonder what your vision of "optimal" is.5 -
Congrats on that great achievement! What do you use? 16:8/20:4?0

I do 23:1 most days, some days 19:5. It keeps me eating at or below my maintenance. Love it, and plan on sticking to it. I try to hit my protein macros and fill up on lots of veggies. Then whatever calories are left over it's pretty much anything I want to enjoy.2

I'm eating 2 big meals watching my caloric/macro intake. I am snacking in between, I struggled yesterday to hit my caloric intake, I was about 200 cals in deficit. I am definitely learning how to balance it all out. I will post my progress in about a week.0

I started with IF and keto this summer. Worked great for me. Lost a bunch of weight! I did 20/4 most days and tried to get my daily calories in during that window. I did all of my daily exercise before breaking the fast. It worked well for me but may not be best for everyone. Drink lots of water! Good luck!1

Hi. I do intuitive IF / Keto or low carb/high fat when not in ketosis... with a carb refeed during a random evening when my body needs it. I fast anywhere between 16-19 hours and do 2 hours of HIIT / circuit / weight training / sprints and running / or walking at an incline 5-6 days a week. I work out in a fasted state, towards the last 2 hours of my fast... and end up eating probably about 30 minutes to an hour after my workout. I've been able to gain muscle mass / get stronger. But I also track macro's and eat high quality / clean / unprocessed food. (I'm a holistic nutritionist.) Stay hydrated and take good quality sea salt and magnesium.2

Thanks for your insightful tips! Just by looking at your pic for your profile I can tell you're doing really well with it1 -
I don't know if what I am doing technically counts as IF but I generally only eat between noon and 6 pm. This schedule hasn't really been intentional but I have zero desire to eat right when I wake up. I started pushing "breakfast" back until I actually felt hungry and have ended up with what I've been doing. The only time I ever feel hungry is right before "breakfast". The rest of the day I'm perfectly fine. Unless I'm up all night for work...then I get hungry around 2 am and will eat something then, but that isn't a common occurrence.0

It sounds like you're doing it without trying! Haha good job0 -
I started 16:8 the second week of September, combined with planning out my meals and walking 5 km each evening. The weight is definitely coming off. IF has helped me eat much more consciously. Some days it's more like 18:6 because I am committed to not eating after 6 pm. Beyond the weight loss, I'm feeling lighter, healthier and more rested and energetic. It may not work for everyone, but it really fits my lifestyle and allows for healthy family dinners every night. And we go out for lunch at least once on the weekends; I haven't felt deprived or starving once. (A little hungry in the mornings, but it's actually nice to feel hunger pangs once in a while, makes me appreciate my meals a lot more!)1

I do 16:8-18:6, 7 days a week. It just helps me feel like I have more calories since I typically eat 2 larger meals and a hefty snack vs 6 small meals. Doing this has helped me not to think about food 24/7 like waiting to eat every 2-3 hours did.
I do well with guidelines so having a feeding window is working very well for me1 -
We are all doing great0
