Success/struggles of the week:
I'm changing the high end of my maintenance range from 135 to 130.
I had 4 splurge days this week and 3 OMAD days...I ate too much bad food on my splurge days and I got sulfer burps and a tummy ache...So I'm cutting back on my splurge days and will be eating better foods.7 -

Struggles: Getting back on track after comping home from the funeral. I know I was afeared of the increase to 12 miles this week. I may have injured my knee due to this. I am struggling with how to rehab while still maintaining my cardio training.
Strengths: I did a deja scan this week. First one since calling maintenance back in June. I was sure that I would be wiggly jiggly due to dropping some of the weight works to focus on running. To my surprise, I was leaner than I expected. And I had an 2lb increase in muscle mass. YEAH!!!
Upcoming week plan: Like I said, I have to rehab this knee. I have found some videos on you tube that I will do daily. I will drop the calories a little below maintenance so that I can make up for the loss of calories usually due to running. I only ever eat 1/2 back.5 -

Successes/struggles- I find myself finding more and more excuses to binge/indulge/fall off my diet. I had a particularly bad day at work today, which caused me to miss my lunch (not by choice) and build up enough stress due to hunger combined with a stressful day and ended up stuffing my face with Chinese food; mind you, it wasn’t even good Chinese food! At least that’d have been worth it. Anyway, I need to develop coping skills outside of eating. Or just stop harping on every single opportunity that comes up to ear poorly. I need to stop making excuses and get serious2 -

Success/struggles of the week: I am still continuing to drop weight for the third week in a row of "maintenance" despite upping calories to between 2850-3000 per day. My fitbit is apparently a little more accurate with burns from my running than I had originally thought. It seems on most TDE calculators that the upper tier "athlete" setting as far as activity level may be the way to go, putting me at 3300-3500. After crunching some numbers I believe this should balance out calories with my running, or at least come pretty close. That being said, that seems like a gargantuan amount of food for one day to me. I think I am going to do some experimenting with adding very calorically dense liquids as a base for my Met-Rx shakes instead of water or almond milk. Nestle Quik, Shatto Chocolate Milk, or maybe some ice cream or peanut butter if I am at home and can use the blender. Lastly, I have a charity 5K next weekend that is a Halloween themed event and I am going to run it in a Flash costume I got off of Ebay. Should make for some interesting pictures if nothing else.6 -
joanreneepas wrote: »Good Morning. Glad to be here a second month with you all. I'm Joan. I have only be in Maintenance for 2 months. I lost 30# over approx 10 months. I started this journey month after having cervical disc surgery. I have extensive degenerative arthritis so I have restricted exercise activities, Ie... No running or jarring to the spine and some restrictions with lifting weights. I love to workout. It energizes me and makes me feel so good. I'm 5'4". 58 years young! My goal weight range is 125-128. Although I have aspirations of 120#, not sure if I could maintain that. Present weight today-126.2#! Yay! I did some struggling last month with trying to figure out this maintenance thing for myself. Others posts on this thread, have helped me a lot. This past week, I really have felt a lot less anxious and fearful of regaining. Looking forward to a great October! Don't ya just love Fall?
Oct 20-weight 128.4#
I’m not too concerned. I’m still in my goal range. Plus I bumped up the amount of weight I’m lifting in my weight training workouts about 2 weeks ago. Hopefully weight is up some as I’m building more muscle!
Successes: It’s been one year since my surgery and I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve been in years!!!6 -

Succcess/struggles of the week:
My new way of eating is so bizarre- I feel so full and I’m eating way more than before plus lots of good fat foods (evoo, full fat dairy, avocados, bone broth, etc) but my weight is staying the same. And I have not even been exercising as much as I usually do.
I do feel healthier and better nourished, with lots more energy but I don’t want to lose more weight. So I still have to get the hang of this maintenance business.12 -

Success / struggles of the week : I've spent pretty much whole week trying to bring my weight down, it jumped up due to too much snacking and grabbing anything and everything that looks good. And we have too many things at home that do appeal to me, so it was non stop for a few days starting last week, and the weight crept up. Add a glass of wine here and there, and that prompts more trips to the kitchen for more food. It worries me, when i have those days when i can't get enough, what it can lead to. I didn't have much time to exercise on top of that. So i had to rain myself in a little, to get the numbers to go down some. I'm comforted by the fact that i can control the damage, and get back on track after some not so good nights, because it's usually nights, when i get into trouble.7 -

This is exactly why a range for maintenance is a great idea, like you've done. I would count this week as a big win because you made needed adjustments. WTG!3 -

@JustRobby1 May I act as a mom for a minute? I, too, had trouble when in maintenance at first and lost way too much weight. Yes, I am a runner and while I don't run races, I run 25-35 miles/week. I probably eat 2000-3000 calories most days and have found my "happy place" (apologies to Adam Sandler). Relax and don't worry about the numbers. Are you comfortable in your skin and clothes? Are you happy with your fitness plan? You will be fine.
Love, Mom7 -
@mk2fit I appreciate your concern. Ironically enough my actual mother is convinced that I must be anorexic or something and is worried about me. She calls and texts daily now. Its just an adjustment period, and one I am having difficulty with, but I am sure I will get my bearings soon. 3000+ is just an awful lot of calories. I got to 3200 today (ran 7 miles earlier) but I feel over full and gross as a result. Maybe it's just because it is a feeling that is so unfamiliar to me. Being full I mean.
I am not 100% content with my body right now, but who is? It's not a weight issue, I just have stretch marks, loose skin in places, and other reminders of my former self that are annoying (and unfortunately permanent barring me winning the lotto).
I find staying busy helps more than anything. So focus on my job at work and my running after work. I completed my first half marathon on Sept. 24th of this year and my goal is to complete a full by the end of 2018. As soon as I am comfortable that I have my weight stabilized and under control I can start training for it.
Thanks again for your concern.4 -

Success / struggles of the week : Still having issues figuring out "maintainance". My brain is still on "lose, lose, lose". My stomach is still happy on less food. I have gradually moved from "low cal" food to the regular and adding more bread, pasta and grains than I had been eating. Beefing up snacks. Still can't get to 1800. But I do know that I look frail in the lower levels of the 140's so I need to figure this out fast...LOL But, what's good is, that I'll be spending a week very soon at an all inclusive resort, so I'll more than likely gain a good bit back...LOL
Successes: Count down to vacation: 19 days! Tried on swimsuits over the weekend. They look better, but a few are too big. Made a last ditch effort to order a few more in smaller sizes. Hopefully at least one of those works. Swimsuits are hard no matter what weight you are.5 -

Success/struggles of the week: My weight is back in my range and so far the trend has stayed in range too. I am trying to eat more calories daily, but sometimes it is difficult. I feel very satisfied on what I am eating and I feel very happy with my activity level. A few family members think I need to cut back my activity. They think I run too much and am too active but I think they are wrong. I don't think that 30 minutes of yoga 5 times per week and running 4 days (~16 miles per week) is excessive exercise. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so. I feel really good. I do have some loose skin and maybe that makes me look more wrinkled than before, but I am hoping that it will tighten up some. Besides, I'm 49 years old. I don't think I look older than 49, but I certainly don't look like I'm in my 20's like the last time I was this weight.4 -

Your exercise routine doesn't sound too excessive to me, being active is so important for our health, so if that works for you, keep it up. And who cares about few extra wrinkles, i think we've earned the right to wear them proudly. When my mom pointed mine out to me, i was shocked that she did that, it was so offensive, i thought. So i asked her if she thought that i should fill them back up with fat. Sometimes even people who love us the most could be a little insensitive, for whatever reason, probably not realizing that's the way they are coming across.4
