Folks 40 and over?

There are a LOT of younger folks on here. I love younger folks! And, although we have a lot in common, I do think there is something to be said for support from folks roughly in our own age range. I'll certainly welcome any friend requests, motivation, and support (And try to give as much as I get!!) But especially interested in folks roughly my own age range!
Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Hi! I have never posted in one of these things so I hope I am doing it right... I agree with loving the young folks but theirs is a different world. I have been a member of this site for years but have never really used it. I am needing accountability so would welcome any help. Not sure how to add friends.3

I'm 81 years old, have never had a severe weight problem but now health issues are getting in the way. I hate the way my body looks and need to get rid of belly fat, plus sodium and sugar are my enemies. I need to get motivated but am failing miserably. I would welcome any advice or friendly reminders.9

Talk to your doctor before you start exercising and changing your diet (since you mentioned health problems). Once you've done that, cut out all the processed food at the grocery store and eat fresh as much as possible. Getting rid of belly fat is probably 80% diet (counting calories on MFP) and 20% exercise (core exercise like Pilates).
Motivation is tricky. Only YOU know what gives you will power to set and meet your goals.
Personally, I turned 50 this year and decided that it was not too late to get in shape to be able to keep up with my teenage twins. After almost 8 months at the gym, I've met that goal and passed it (my daughter can't do as many pushups as me . . . LOL).5 -

I fully agree with you, there's a difference between the young crowd and the more mature people on here. When I first started, there was a lot more information showing on member's profiles, and I typically chose my Friends by age, but now the ages aren't visible.

There's several threads and groups on here you can search for, one called the 40+ Club: where all the cool kids are; another called the 40+club; another one 40+. Use the Search feature under the forums, very helpful.2

Well yes...I have been over 40 for awhile now So I qualify! Looking to get motivated! I love MFP but need some friends so add me if you would like to!2

I have been 40 for less than a week. I've been on here since January 2016, lost 45 pounds, basically maintaining for the last 10 months. Have a surgery coming up so not sure what will happen with my weight (any type of vigorous activity is out, out, out for at least six weeks and possibly longer).2

Just turned 47 last week - in my heart, I'm 37 though. Trying to lose a few pounds to fit back into my favorite clothes. Have played roller derby for 10 years and while I'm considered "derby jerky" at my age, I can still put a hurtin' on some of the younger skaters. Wisdom definitely works in my favor in that sport.2

Good for you. I remember playing older “veteran” members of our rugby club (too many years ago now), who knew every dirty trick going; their mantra was “youth and enthusiasm is no match for age and experience”....... and the less said about how that might be interpreted more broadly, the better!1 -
44 here, you can add me1

44 next month, and trying hard to be better to myself, I've been overweight since I was a small child, and although I know all the theory of how to do this, I've never really put it into practice for long enough. I tend to do really well for about three months and then self-sabotage. Hoping to not do that ever again. Feel free to add me.1
