If they were under their calorie goal....yes.20

There's nothing magical about bulletproof coffee that will help you lose weight. Weight loss comes down to creating a calorie deficit.13
-
I sort of want to try it but I imagine I'd wind up with hellish diarrhea. Ymmv.10

I've lost weight drinking bullet proof coffee... But it had nothing to do with the coffee and everything to do with being in a deficit18

That's about right.
I drink coffee with coconut oil most mornings but I tend to skip breakfast and only add 1/2 teaspoon oil to a large travel mug. I like it for the MCT's and ketone boosting effect on my morning thinking.13 -
for me, BCP fills me up so then i eat/snack less which creates a deficit. so yes,4
-
I drink it as a meal replacement but like everyone else said, it isn't what is helping me lose weight. It does not however curb my appetite like it's suppose to.. which is frustrating AF. But then, drinks never did. Probably psychological..0

Adding fat to your coffee has no magical properties. It adds calories to your coffee that's about it!
I thought this was keto thing.8 -

You aren't alone, I hardly ever drink it because it doesn't curb my appetite like it does for so many others as well. I drink it occasionally but for the most part get my fats elsewhere.

The point of the bulletproof coffee and the keto lifestyle is that it supposedly keeps you so satiated that you don't want to eat all the things. Remaining within a calorie deficit is a happy outcome of a satisfied appetite, if it works out that way for you.3
-
As everyone else has pointed out, it's not magic, it's science. For many people, but not all, BPC suppresses appetite triggers and thus reduces daily calories.
Ditto for Keto. However, If every day you have BPC, 5 boiled eggs wrapped in 3 slices of bacon, for breakfast, have 3 Lettuce wrapped Bacon cheeseburgers for lunch, and for dinner have a 18 oz sirloin with Guac and broccoli, You probably won't lose weight over time.3 -

Havent had it but it looks disgusting. A complete waste of calories in my opinion..5

Taking one aspect of the keto lifestyle in isolation will probably have no effect other than use your calories differently to how you used them the day before.3

I'm not a huge fan but there are so many who love it. First time I heard of it I told my brother, "Who would put butter in their coffee!" He said, "Bullet proof coffee? It's awesome! It makes your coffee creamy and frothy!" Didn't know he knew what that was... to each their own I guess. It's not disgusting in flavor.. I just prefer my hazelnut creamer..0 -
I drink it occasionally, however I dont add the full amount of butter, it still has the same effect for me. It stops me from feeling hungry until about lunch time. Which works out perfectly for me because I prefer to have a medium sized lunch and dinner and then a small dessert. When I was trying to eat breakfast everyday I found myself starving no matter what I had eaten.
So BPC works for some to reduce appetite, but that only helps put you in a calorie deficit.1 -
Also...don't forget to count the calories in it. That fat isn't free!
BPC can actually increase your calories if you don't normally have anything in the morning and you do have to ask yourself the question: if you're going to have calories in the morning, would you rather it be BPC or something else?0 -
Thank you all. Great input.1

Yes. Because it costs $27 a cup, so there goes my lunch and dinner money.
Edit to add: I'm joking, I wouldn't drink that stuff.5 -

Most people who try it seem to say that regardless of the health/diet benefits the butter actually tastes really good in coffee (butter is just churned cream, after all). I don't think I'd ever seek it out, but I'm not surprised that people do think it tastes good.1 -

Switch out the coffee for sugar and rum, add some winter spices to make delicious hot buttered rum and then I'll drink it.
Butter in my coffee though? I'm good with a little milk. Suppresses my appetite without the calories.3 -

I was given a butter rum shot once, couldn't drink it. Turned me off to the idea of buttered drinks.0 -

I would try it just to see what it tastes like but the one time I looked it up it included some kind of oil I didn't have and a specific type of butter and I said forget it.
I don't know that the added fat in the coffee would be so filling for me anyway. I already drink my coffee with a cup of either whole or 2% milk or a mixture of whole and skim and I've never felt that one was more filling than the other. And I always have that coffee along with eggs, oats, and fruit or veg. I'm probably just not a candidate for replacing breakfast with a coffee.0 -
Fat on its own is not filling for me, and I like black coffee and am fine skipping breakfast if I want to skip breakfast, so for me bulletproof coffee would be a waste of calories even if it did not sound disgusting.
Coffee with cream can be tasty, though, although I rarely do that either.1 -

I make it with regular butter. No oil. And a buttload of rum. I wasn't sure I'd like it but it's surprisingly non-greasy.0 -

Buttered rum shots are gross...they're butterscotch schnapps with baileys and coconut rum. They relate to real buttered rum the same way that long island iced teas relate to real ice tea.
That said, I do not like hot buttered rum. My SO, on the other hand, can't get enough of the stuff.1 -
I would rather drink my Monster Java Loca Moca for 200 calories and get a lot of different vitamins and minerals. It staves off my hunger until late afternoon. Tastes much better than "bulletproof coffee".2

Personnally, when I've tried it, I've had it with coconut oil vs butter.0 -
Black coffee has 0-5 calories and tastes the best.4
