I weigh first thing in the morning when I get up. My scale only has 1/2# increments, and I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale. Comments reflect prior day.10/20/17: Oooh, I like this thread! I've been weighing myself daily since April, keeping track in MFP Food Notes, and logging my "official" weigh-ins on Saturdays. I've been amazed at how much my weight can fluctuate from day to day, depending on eating out or processed foods, adult beverages, net calories green or red, etc. Daily weigh-ins really help me see cause and effect with high sodium days, adult beverages, too much sugar, etc. I don't get freaked out as much by a jump on the scale now, since I know what I did to cause it, and what I can do to change it. My scale measures in 1/2 # increments, and I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.

10/21: 164.8 It is a gorgeous fall day here today. Cleaning the fridge, doing laundry, catching up. Going to take the kids somewhere to get some steps and exercise in.
10/22: 164.8 At least I am not gaining. Got back on the treadmill last night after two weeks of no running. My legs felt like jelly, but I did it!
10/23: 166.1 Okay, so had some good October-type food this weekend. Nothing processed, but some very good bread and cheese! My goal today is water. Lots of it.
10/24: 166.1 Not feeling it this round. Thankfully every day is a new chance to start over, so that is what I am going to do. Not off to the greatest start... could have worked out this morning but instead chose to read and respond to email and do some work. Tonight is free, so will try to get to the gym and run and watch some of the World Series.

10/23 181.8 not too bad but up again. Mondays always seem to be the worst days to weigh. I don't drink water like I should and eat too much over the weekend. When I'm at work, I eat sensibly (usually) and drink 60-80 oz of water (I know some people say that doesn't matter, but to me it does). On the weekends, I drink lots of coffee and diet Pepsi and, well, eat too much. I know this is something I need to work on. I want to see the 170s so bad! I haven't weighed less than 180ish in years!
10/24 183.0 I am getting a bit frustrated. I am logging everything I eat and drink. I am very rarely over calories so I don't understand.
...
It seems like you may have found your problem: weekends. Can you pre-log them? Is the Diet Pepsi driving hunger for you the way Diet Coke does for me? Some of us are susceptible to sweet tastes, especially no-cal sweet tastes, giving us the munchies. Can you plan to cook some special lo-cal dish like a new-to-you vegetable on the weekend? Can you do a variation on 5:2 and eat at a larger deficit on weekdays but at maintenance on the weekends? Do you have a hobby that keeps your hands busy so you can't eat -- winter's coming, crochet a scarf? Just thinking of some possible solutions for ya ...
Weekends...weekends. My weekends are pretty loose compared to weekdays. I don't have access to as much food during the day at work and I make my own dinner every weekday evening. On weekends, I spend a lot of time with friends and don't cook for myself often. I usually wind up staying under calories, not always but usually. I'm going to have to start trying to pre-log (as you said).
I don't think Diet Pepsi makes me hungrier but I haven't really made a conscious effort to find out. I'll start paying more attention to that.
I don't have a hobby right now. I work 40 hours a week at my full-time job and 12ish hours a week at the part-time one. I leave at 7:20 am Monday-Friday and don't get home until after 8:00 pm on most of those days. I also work on Saturday or Sunday if necessary. I used to eat out all the time and get free food at the part-time job (all fried convenience store food). I have completely cut that out and now I'm thinking that contributed to the quick weight loss at the beginning. Maybe I'm just in too much of a hurry. I have lost over 20 pounds in 14 weeks and that's pretty darn good!
Thank you for reading my whining and coming up with solutions.8 -

Last round again reinforced to me how important it is to not stress out over temporary daily upward fluctuations. For this round I will continue working on my hydration and stretching.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/20--222.6 Normal fluctuation either due to the 2 handfuls of mini peppermint patties I had yesterday, even though I had already eaten my calories for the day, or water retention from finishing up another day of C25K that I completed in the rain last night. Either way, I'll take it.
10/21--222.2 Finished W2D3 of C25k and stretched. Going out for afternoon tea today. Working on staying hydrated today.
10/22--222.4 Very surprised about the small increase after all the food I ate at tea, maybe all the tea I drank helped. Going out for tennis lessons and then out for lunch with the in-laws, so weight will probably be up tomorrow.
10/23--222.8 If this is the only weight increase that shows up after the lunch and lack of water I had yesterday I will be very happy. I do have to say that I only ate 1/2 of my lunch and took the rest home to eat for dinner, so that also helped.
10/24--223.3 Water retention. Had a challenging weightlifting session yesterday.
10/25--222.4 There goes the water.

10/20 -156.5 *Wow not bad for dinner at Mom's and a lack of walking (less than 8000 steps ) Ate extra dessert too. Back at it today and a big push this weekend for hitting tons of steps. Happy weekend everyone!!
10/21 ~ 156.8. Almost hit steps but did go swimming with grandson, so? Was super hungry after swimming and had too many treats that’s were hanging around the kitchen/fridge. SO is on his way home, new plan is to stay somewhat stable. So hard as we will be visiting and having dinners with everyone etc. Rain rain rain must try and get those steps in. Maybe find some mud boots and gear and hit up a corn maze. Hmmmm hope everyone likes my plan with secret step goal built in. Have a great Saturday!
10/22 - 158.7. Too much sitting, chatting and sodium. Plus over calories. See what happens Monday morning as the weather is still horrible. I need to go outside!!
10/23 - 160.1 Oh dear.
10/24 - 160.0 Just a few more days of SO being home. It's always such a busy time with the unknown about to happen as everyone wants to see him and we have to travel for visits. Too much sitting and I've been into the chocolate and pre plans of my meals have been tossed aside. I know I'll be fine and that is my biggest lesson I have figured out!! Those double 5's are just a bit farther away. Also if I can manage myself through Christmas I've come a long long way.
10/25 - 160.2 300 Days of MFP!! Had Chinese food last night and maybe some chocolate too. SO has left again for work (Just 4 days home ) But I can get back on track and give away the tempting chocolate. May be a lazy day today again as I had to get up early and take him to the airport. Need to get back to planning and prepping. No brought from home lunch today either.... Ugggg

10/21 - - 218.2 - OK that's encouraging. I'll just have to keep plugging away.
10/22 - 216.8 - so I cut out late night snacking, and even though I always had the calories left to snack away, apparently that was making the difference in my inability to drop weight. Or so it seems anyway.

First timer here! New to myfitness as well. I have been on a weight roller coaster this year, and hate the way I look now. 10 years ago I was 169lbs, hated it, got energized, found a plan that worked and stuck to it (mostly). I was able to get my weight down to 135lbs (give or take a couple of pounds). This year has been tough with lots of family and work stress. No motivation, then I do, then I don't. My current weight is 157 lbs. My goal is to get back to where I was happy and to fit those clothes again. I will settle for 140lbs.
Current: 157 lb

10/21 155.4 another kickboxing class today and 30 min treadmill last night
10/22 157.2 - weekends are hard to maintain. Last night went out to the Keg with friends for dinner. Only ate half of my dinner, but then there was beer and wine involved. Bad BAD BAD!!!
10/23 158.4 - going the wrong way. Yesterday no excercise and needed "comfort food".
10/24 156.8 - Ok, back on track. Just need more energy to excercise.
10/25 155.6 - kickboxing class was cancelled so my daughter and I did xbox kickboxing. Way more fun! Healthy eating all day and lots of water. Keep going!!!

Plan for today: write it, then bite it! Stick with the plan and drink 64 oz water.
10/24 176.6 ugh
10/25 175.0 again. Glad to see it! hope tomorrow to get past it though! I was so hungry yesterday, I made hot tea in between meals and also some Golden Milk (turmeric, 2 oz almond milk, hot water, cinnamon) in the blender to keep me going.

Of course, you can eat leftovers, as long as you stay within calorie limits. Those leftovers might have been a little saltier than what you were eating and therefore caused a bit of an upswing due to water retention. Pay more attention to the long term trend than daily swings.
Thank you for the information I stayed in my calories, but the salt probably was the problem!!! Being on MFP is helping me so much.5 -

Happy to be here for my 5th round. Thanks to all of you for being here, too. It helps so much to know we're not alone and to realize that all those "lost 2-5 pounds a week for umpteen weeks" ads are not the norm. More like verbal airbrushing! Half a pound lost per month is not just that much lost, but more than that not gained!
10/21 - 149.6
No surprise there. I did say I planned to lose the last 10-15 pounds slowly, right? ;-)
10/22 - 149.5
I thought I'd be down a bit more this morning. But whatever the scale says, I've lost an inch and a half from my waist since whenever it was I last measured (I have it written down somewhere) and I feel lighter, so all good. :-)
10/23 - 149.5
No surprise. I increased my calories yesterday to 1850 (from ~1700), and plan to stay between 1800-1900 for the next week to avoid slowing my metabolism. I'll be happy if my weight just stays level during that time. Then I'll cut back again for a month or so. But I'll keep checking in - keeps me aware.
10/24 - 149.5
Good, since I'm eating more for the coming week. I looked up my stats from my pre-metabolism reset dieting and found it took me 5 months to get from 150 to 143, my lowest in decades. So no surprise that these 10-15 pounds are slow going. A bit reassuring!

GOALS THIS ROUND:- Downward trend

- 25 active minutes every day
- Reach 61,5 kg at the end of the round
DAY || WEIGHT - COMMENT AND GOALS- 10/20 || 62,9 kg (138,6 lbs) – Very happy to see that number! I didn’t eat that much yesterday and didn’t binge either. I might need to lower my goal though if tomorrow is around the same number, because else there will not really be a “challenge”. Walked a lot today, went shopping, tried to put the last stressful couple of days off of me. I did have a McDonald’s again, but didn’t go for a burger and went for some Chicken McNuggets to save myself some calories. Hopefully my plan somewhat worked, we’ll see tomorrow! For some reason, my Fitbit didn’t record any active minutes today, but considering I walked quite a lot, I’m just going to give myself 25 minutes. [ 1,5L | 25 min ]
- 10/21 || 62,1 kg (136,9 lbs) – I went out shopping and ate A LOT. I did walk more so according to my Fitbit I stayed just under my calories, but then again it’s hard to estimate calories when you’re eating out. [ 1,75L | 70 min ]
- 10/22 || 62,2 kg (137,1 lbs) – I thought yesterday’s dinner would’ve showed up more, but glad it didn’t! I’m also going to change my goal from 62,7 kg to 61,5 kg for this round. I think now that TOM is over, all the bloating is gone or something, which would explain the sudden drop. That or the drinking more water is finally taking an effect. Either way, I’m not complaining haha! [ 1,5L | 53 min ]
- 10/23 || 62 kg (136,6 lbs) – woohoo! It won’t last though considering I had my cheat meal today (I actually ate too much and felt a bit sick afterwards), but still nice to see. Definitely feels like I needed more water today though. [ 1,5L | 83 min ]
- 10/24 || - 62,5 kg (137,7 lbs) – nooooo. I knew this was going to happen but still I wish it wasn’t this much. Ate normal today though and have a new record of water intake in one day! I know it still isn’t a lot to most people, but considering I used to get sick from water, I’ve come a long way haha. [ 2,1 L | 25 min]
- 10/25 || 62,1 kg (136,9 lbs) – Back in the right direction! Hopefully tomorrow will be lower… I feel like I ate a lot today but pretty healthy stuff. I do feel like snacking though, hopefully I’ll be able to stand the temptation haha. The following two days will be hard in terms of weighing, tracking and not drinking too much (meeting with friends, going out, staying over at a friend so no scale, ...). Hopefully starting from Saturday I'll be able to eat clean again [ 1,8L | 34 min ]

It's about the daily seemingly unimportant decisions. But consistently making them everyday is what leads to results. I love the way I feel at night & the next morning after having stayed on track.

Well, this is the start of round 7 for me, and I can't wait! I plan to step up my exercise, and set myself some daily guidelines for the next 10 days. If it works out, I may keep them or tweek them until they do work!
1.no sodas
2.no bread
3.no eating out
4.drink at least 12 glasses water daily
5.eat protein every meal
6.reduce sodium intake
7.get more sleep
I've lost an average of 1.5 lbs. per round over the last 6 rounds! I'm going to see if these guidelines will make a difference in that average!

I would love to see the 16s by this weekend coming!
10/22: 216.8
God is so good; I haven't seen this number in many moons! Hope it sticks around. It seems like every Saturday, when I do my weekly weigh in for F2F, I go up, so my weigh in for the week is more than it was the last Saturday! Hope I break that pattern this week!
10/23: 216.6
I like it! I like it! I like it!
10/24: 218.7
Over did my sodium yesterday. Went to bed late, and got up early to exercise. Was so tired and sleepy all day that I lay down after work, and it was after 6 when I woke! Since I didn't meal prep, I heated up some leftover soup, and it had waaaay too much sodium! I need to start meal prepping!
Thank God His mercies are new every morning!
10/25: 217.6
Broke guideline number 4; forgot my bible study group was having a fellowship lunch today. Went to a Bakery Café. I was doing good; I ordered a rotisserie chicken salad that came on lettuce, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, and boiled eggs. That's when the bird flew over the Coocoo's nest; they had samples of wedding cookies! I tasted a piece and it was all over except the weeping! I couldn't stop myself-I bought a dozen, and ate all of them on the way home! I thank God for the cookies: they were so good, and I thank Him that His mercies are new every morning!5 -

10/20 168.6 lb midday after workout. No real struggles yet today. Those will come later today when hanging out with friends. But I didn't eat the candy at work so there's a plus!
10/21 167.8 lb noonish after workout. Good but most of my weigh-ins will be after eating lunch, Which I haven't yet. So I'm expecting a rise come Monday. But I wasnt tempted by bad food last night. Just one drink of gin, which filled out my calories for the day yesterday. Going good!
10/22 169.8 lb night 7:30 - after workout that was the increase that I thought was going to happen. But I had fries last night for dinner as well so I expected a high number. Also and lunch and dinner. It also went up a pound after my workout so who knows.
10/23 168.2 lb night 7:15 - after workout. Interesting that it went down that much. We'll see if it balances it's self tomorrow. No temptations today, so it was quite easy to stay on track. I've been trying to break a plateau of about 168/169 for a week and a half now so I'm hopeful!
10/24 168.4 lb night 7:00 - after workout. Pretty good seeming as yesterday was a big drop. I ignored the candy at work today!
10/25 167.4 lb night 7:15 - after workout. That's a pretty good drop. Probably a little to much if it stays. All about healthy loss not fast loss. May need to recalculate calorie in for my new workout regimen. But my plateau might be breaking!!!!

10/24 - 221.6 - working my way back down. Really need to focus on ny water intake.
10/25 - 220.2 - goal in sight! have skipped the gym the last two nights because I've been really tired, but I'm watching my calories intently

10/20: 149.0 /Finally met my fluid intake goal! Ate under calories but did not meet activity goal.
10/21: 148.2 / I can't believe there was another big drop so soon. I met my fluid goal again. I also walked over 16,000 steps and biked for over 30 minutes. Stayed under calories and actually met my protein goal! Good day. Having sushi tomorrow, yum!
10/22: 148.8 /It was too good to be true! Oh well, I'll keep chugging along. Ate under calories today by my estimate...had a slice of chocolate, hazelnut and marshmallow pizza from Max Brenner, so had to estimate. Walked 14,000+ steps and biked 45+ minutes and met my fluid goal. Now let's see if I can keep it up during the work days!
10/23: 149.8 /And now I've gone above where I ended the last round, urgh! Well, I guess I'll keep chugging along. Didn't meet my activity goal today. Only got in 7000+ steps as the usually with my commute and a busy day. Stayed late at work today and ate the provided food. Stayed under calories and met my fluids goal. Here's hoping for a better tomorrow, scale wise!
10/24: 148.2 /Ok, back to day 2 of this round. Hopefully it's downward from here, but I feel bloated and gassy (TMI?), so probably not. Ate under calories today, got my fluid in and walked 15,000+ steps! So, doing well in terms of the right actions.
10/25: 147.6 /Turns out it's TOM causing the bloated and gassy feeling. Surprised at the drop because I still feel crappy. Stayed within calories, got my fluids in and walked 12,000+ steps. I need to get to some actual working out at some point!

10 Day Goal: I would be over the moon if I managed to get out of the 150's. I still have a cough and shortness of breath when exerting myself, so I will be slowly work myself back into exercise.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/20- 150.48 It was a quiet day today. Came in under calories. Tomorrow I have another university visit with my son, so I will get some exercise.
10/21- Woke up early and forgot to weigh. Went to a university open day with my son. Did lots of walking. We ate dinner out, but I think I probably came in under calories.
10/22- no scale Realized this week is going to be difficult. We have another open day on Wednesday. Dinner was out again tonight. Should be under calories, but this is a total guess. Nervous to weigh tomorrow morning.
10/23- 150.7 Hurray! Hope I can continue to stay on track.
10/24- no scale Unsure if I made it within calories. Think I was probably over.
10/25- no scale Lots of walking today, but also had fast food. Tomorrow will be interesting when I'm able to weigh myself again.

Need more water today, stayed up too late last night. Good on calories, veggies, OK on protein. Got a little exercise. No added sugar. I'm on a whoosh, I think interval running is giving me a larger calorie deficit than I'm accounting for. We'll see if it keeps up.
10/21: 167.0
Spoke too soon! This bump doesn't bother me, I am still 2 lbs down for the last week. Today was good, I found an excuse to get outside and walk during my work day, then went for a short run this evening. Good on water, calories, etc. No sugar today. I even turned down pizza.
10/22: 167.5
Hm, still went up and I was practically perfect Friday and Saturday. Imma be way up tomorrow, I went out to dinner and had all the butter in the world, went over my calories for the first time in ages, like halfway into tomorrow's calories. No dessert or cocktail, at least. Didn't have sugar today but I found a roll of breath mints (with sorbitol) in my desk and ate several, I always munched stuff like that like candy so I stopped buying them.
10/23: 168.5 Yeah.
For what it's worth, today was mostly on track. Though if yesterday was "B" for butter, today might have been "C" for cheese. Under calories, though. No sugar.
10/24: 169.0
Honestly, I almost skipped this thread today because this is discouraging. But, I know I didn't eat 7,000 extra calories in the last few days, I have to just keep going. Ate very light today, lots of water. No added sugar.
10/25: 167.5
Okay, a bit better. I drank 4L/1gal of water yesterday to rid my body of evil spirits and it helped. Today I did terrible with water, forgot my bottle at home and didn't drink any fluids from 9a-6p. Fine on calories, no added sugar, got some exercise tonight after dinner.
