    On to next round.

    Glad we'll see you in the next round! We're all working together to understand ourselves and why we go up and down. You and I are losing over the long haul and that's what's important!

    I was having trouble staying down around 1500 calories as my activity naturally increases as I weigh less so I have set my calories back at the more comfortable level of 1550, which is closer to the TDEE of a lightly active woman of my age at goal weight. Arguably, if I keep being more active I will continue to lose weight until I am approaching a normal BMI.

    Also, since I already gained from traveling and it’s getting colder where the scale is, I’m biting the bullet and weighing in jeans & t-shirt rather than my birthday suit.

    10/20 264.4 -- Down two pounds since yesterday despite adding two pounds of clothing to the mix and snacking past deficit last night. We’re off the road and back to control over our sodium intake!
    0/21 262.4 -- Down another couple pounds of water. That’s how many of those “loss 10 pounds in the first week” diets do it. They assume their diet will greatly reduce your sodium intake along with the calorie reductions.
    10/22 259.6 -- Back in the 250s already! I’m a happy camper!
    10/23 257.6 -- This losing two pounds a day is wonderful! But a false friend, i know. As soon as all that water is gone from 12 days of eating salt and it will be back to the pound-a-week trudge.
    10/24 257.2 -- I guess we’re done losing water from the trip. Now to get back down to where I was and then onward!
    10/25 254.8 -- Yowser! Another big drop. Back to the middle of the range of challenge 18 (pre-trip). Another pound and a half and I’ll resume losing “new” pounds.
    10/26 254.2 -- I’ll take it! Last night hunnybunny and I split a container of Haagen Das but it fit in my calories and I enjoyed every spoonful!
    10/27 255.0 -- I know what I ate yesterday to cause this little leap. No calorie deficit, too little water, too little fiber, and too much salt. Prunes to the rescue!
    10/28 254.0 -- Back on track! Took a short walk yesterday. It’s a start.

    10/29 255.0 -- Chinese take out. Harrumph. On the other hand, I really have pretty much erased the effects of the trip and am back on track. New lows next challenge!

    8/27 147.6 ~ (Steps 18,495 Miles 7.36) ~ Today's my sons birthday......Yesterday I was able to get a nice morning walk in plus hit the gym in the evening since it was too hot outside. I had to push myself to hit the gym, it did pay off in the scale, yay! Another pound off, I'm trying to lose the 5 pounds I gained from vacation, :(:(

    8/28 148.8 ~ Yesterday, since I didn't get ANY exercise in plus my sodium was high, I have a gain. I didn't over eat though so my gain is only a pound. Yesterday's, was a success in my books! :)

    8/29 148.3 ~ (Steps18,169) Miles 7 ~ I was hungry the whole day but was able to stick to my dairy, keeping my sodium low. I decided to try getting a workout before getting breakfast. Last night I had to alter my menu since my husband got off late from work. On the plus side a couple workouts during the day helped.

    8/30 147.9 ~ (Steps 19,101 Miles 7.7) ~ Yesterday went well with goals, I was able to get a couple workouts at the gym. I switching up though, having my protein drink after my first workout. I need to focus on more fruits for snacks, after vacation, I'm having trouble incorporating them into my diet.

    :) Not at my goal for this round but I'm ready for the next round! :)

    8/31 146.4 ~ (Steps 28,910 Miles 7.75) ~ Yesterday I was able to get a couple workouts in plus a morning run.... My vacation weight is starting to drop off, only a couple more pounds..... Consistency to no late night snacking is the key :):):)

    9/01 147.9 ~ (Steps 20,039 Miles 8 miles) ~ I don't understand the gain, I was able to get a nice workout last night plus my sodium wasn't to high. I also ate under my calories allowed so I'm really disappointed with the gain. I did have some watermelon last night but that shouldn't matter. :'(:o:'(

    9/02 148 ~ (Steps 15,232 Miles 6) ~ We went to the Spring fair so my diet wasn't like it usually is, :( I was able to stay under my calorie goal, making smart choice. I also got a workout after the fair.

    9/03 148.5....147.9 ~ (Steps 17,547 Miles 7) ~ Again with the gain, doing everything right, I log everything, stay within my goal, sodium is low, get my water in. I'm going to try dropping my intake to see how that works!

    9/04 148 ~ (Steps 15,435 Miles 6) ~ We ended up going to dinner last night but I was able to make healthy choices, in fact taking half home for breakfast today, with such large portions

    9/5 147.4 ~ (Steps 17,376 Miles 7) ~ Spent most of the day getting ready to head to my daughter's for the week. Met all my goals for the day.

    9/8 148 ~ (Steps 24,548 Miles 9.75) ~ I was able to get some nice walks in with my grandkids and daughter. Our dinner consisted of a grilled spinach salad. Today going back home so tomorrow's weigh in will be with my scale.

    9/10 147.4 ~ (Steps 18,550 Miles 7.25) ~ Yesterday was a tough day really tired from spending the week watching my grandkids. I was able to get a workout last night at the gym. Also even though we went out to lunch I was able to make healthy choices.

    9/11 146.9 ~ (Steps 20,239 Miles 8) ~ Since it was a good day to exercise outs I decided to get a morning, afternoon and evening walks in. No late night snacking is helping with the scale going downs!

    10/21 132.5 - not what I expected... DD came home from college yesterday, so made a nice lasagna dinner with apple cake for dessert... and I ate over my calorie count. Probably won’t hold, but that’s why I’m doing this
    10/22 132.5 - I’m finding this group activity motivating! Knowing I was going to report my weight today kept the late night munching away

    Last round again reinforced to me how important it is to not stress out over temporary daily upward fluctuations. For this round I will continue working on my hydration and stretching.

    10/20--222.6 Normal fluctuation either due to the 2 handfuls of mini peppermint patties I had yesterday, even though I had already eaten my calories for the day, or water retention from finishing up another day of C25K that I completed in the rain last night. Either way, I'll take it.
    10/21--222.2 Finished W2D3 of C25k and stretched. Going out for afternoon tea today. Working on staying hydrated today.
    10/22--222.4 Very surprised about the small increase after all the food I ate at tea, maybe all the tea I drank helped. Going out for tennis lessons and then out for lunch with the in-laws, so weight will probably be up tomorrow.
    10/23--222.8 If this is the only weight increase that shows up after the lunch and lack of water I had yesterday I will be very happy. I do have to say that I only ate 1/2 of my lunch and took the rest home to eat for dinner, so that also helped.

    10/20: 149.0 :)/Finally met my fluid intake goal! Ate under calories but did not meet activity goal.
    10/21: 148.2 :o/ I can't believe there was another big drop so soon. I met my fluid goal again. I also walked over 16,000 steps and biked for over 30 minutes. Stayed under calories and actually met my protein goal! Good day. Having sushi tomorrow, yum!
    10/22: 148.8 :neutral:/It was too good to be true! Oh well, I'll keep chugging along. Ate under calories today by my estimate...had a slice of chocolate, hazelnut and marshmallow pizza from Max Brenner, so had to estimate. Walked 14,000+ steps and biked 45+ minutes and met my fluid goal. Now let's see if I can keep it up during the work days!
    10/23: 149.8 :(/And now I've gone above where I ended the last round, urgh! Well, I guess I'll keep chugging along. Didn't meet my activity goal today. Only got in 7000+ steps as the usually with my commute and a busy day. Stayed late at work today and ate the provided food. Stayed under calories and met my fluids goal. Here's hoping for a better tomorrow, scale wise!
    10/24: 148.2 :neutral:/Ok, back to day 2 of this round. Hopefully it's downward from here, but I feel bloated and gassy (TMI?), so probably not. Ate under calories today, got my fluid in and walked 15,000+ steps! So, doing well in terms of the right actions.
    10/25: 147.6 :)/Turns out it's TOM causing the bloated and gassy feeling. Surprised at the drop because I still feel crappy. Stayed within calories, got my fluids in and walked 12,000+ steps. I need to get to some actual working out at some point!
    10/26: 147.6 :)/I'm cool with seeing the same number today. Hoping for a drop tomorrow! Under calories but did not meet my activity or fluid goals.
    10/27: 146.2 :)/Writing yesterday’s log today. I ate over by 1000 calories by my estimation though I over estimated. Didn’t meet fluid goal but walked 12,000+ steps.
    10/28: 145.2 :open_mouth:/I know this number is a fluke. There's just no way. Anyways, it'a all for nothing as I overate today as well (out with friends). Not enough fluids, over 500 calories than target. Walked 12,000+ steps. Tomorrow is another tough day, food-wise. Going to a Friendsgiving. I'll get back on track on Monday!

    Happy to be here for my 5th round. Thanks to all of you for being here, too. It helps so much to know we're not alone and to realize that all those "lost 2-5 pounds a week for umpteen weeks" ads are not the norm. More like verbal airbrushing! Half a pound lost per month is not just that much lost, but more than that not gained!

    I thought I'd be down a bit more this morning. But whatever the scale says, I've lost an inch and a half from my waist since whenever it was I last measured (I have it written down somewhere) and I feel lighter, so all good. :-)

    No surprise. I increased my calories yesterday to 1850 (from ~1700), and plan to stay between 1800-1900 for the next week to avoid slowing my metabolism. I'll be happy if my weight just stays level during that time. Then I'll cut back again for a month or so. But I'll keep checking in - keeps me aware.

    Good, since I'm eating more for the coming week. I looked up my stats from my pre-metabolism reset dieting and found it took me 5 months to get from 150 to 143, my lowest in decades. So no surprise that these 10-15 pounds are slow going. A bit reassuring!

    well, I'm confused. All I can think is that I'm holding a bunch of water for some reason. Expecting a good loss one day this week.

    10/25 175.0 again. Glad to see it! hope tomorrow to get past it though! I was so hungry yesterday, I made hot tea in between meals and also some Golden Milk (turmeric, 2 oz almond milk, hot water, cinnamon) in the blender to keep me going.

    10/27 174.4 looks good to me! I had an extra carb serving yesterday (normally only have one) and a couple of drinks last night so I'm happy with todays weight. I will be drinking extra water today and sticking to the plan- had protein smoothie for breakfast, a bowl of tom kha gai soup with broccoli and an apple for lunch.. Salad, a veg and a protein for dinner tonight. Maybe a glass of wine.

    10/28 175.2 I think this month has been tough for me. We traveled a lot, now we have a houseguest, and to top it all off my MIL just brought over a quarter of a Hummingbird cake with cream cheese frosting. I ate a 5 oz piece which the internet says is 500 calories, does that seem right???
    But I guess I need to admit that all of my small choices off plan add up to weight maintenance. instead of a weight loss because I've been at this same weight for 20 days! :neutral: We have a neighborhood block party this afternoon.. The plan I am making and STICKING TO for this afternoon is to make some crock pot chicken with salsa verde to be served with lettuce wraps. Also, drink all my water and limit alcohol to 2 servings.

    10/29 177.0 this am. I forgot to weigh until after breakfast, so a lb of that is probably just food weight.. the other lb would be water due to carbs and bourbon :smiley: overall not too bad

    Average weight this round: 175.8 which is almost a lb less than last round. I also saw a NEW LOW for two days, so I'm calling it a win!

    Good round at least weight-wise for me. Only 1 week worth of weighing and down 1.5 lbs. BF% is up though, so need to keep focusing on hydration and getting enough protein. I'm down to the lowest I've been in 2.5 years, so that is definitely a win!

    10/20-191.8 I am really enjoying this downward trend. Everyday I expect it to level out and every day I am surprised! This means I've lost almost 16lbs total! I'm so thankful for this group and the daily accountability. :)
    10/21-191.6 TOM finally arrived even though I was expecting it a week ago. Likely explains the quick decrease over the last couple days.
    10/22 -191.8 - Exepected. Chinese buffet last night. I love dumplings... That is all...haha
    10/23-192.0 - boo! Weekend fluctuations I guess. Happy Monday!
    10/24- 191.8... it's really hanging in there. Really hoping to hit my goal this round.
    10/25- 189.8 - YAY!! I  hope I can keep it here for a bit! Goodbye 190's!!
    10/26- 190.0 - darn! I was hoping they would stay gone.
    10/27-190.2 This morning and hubby took me out to dinner tonight. It'll be ok, shouldn't have been awful.
    10/28-189.2- Wasn't expecting that. It seems an increase, but not out of maintenance evey once in a while encourages a loss the next nat.
    10/29- 188.6- Pretty happy with the results this round! I keep expecting it to slow way down, but it keep surprising me. :)

    I obviously haven't lost any weight in months but because of my workout program, my clothes are looser, and friends and family have commented that I look healthier. So I'm happy about that. I feel better, too. :smile:

    Well, this is the start of round 7 for me, and I can't wait! I plan to step up my exercise, and set myself some daily guidelines for the next 10 days. If it works out, I may keep them or tweek them until they do work!
    1.no sodas
    2.no bread
    3.no eating out
    4.drink at least 12 glasses water daily
    5.eat protein every meal
    6.reduce sodium intake
    7.get more sleep

    I've lost an average of 1.5 lbs. per round over the last 6 rounds! I'm going to see if these guidelines will make a difference in that average!

    God is so good; I haven't seen this number in many moons! Hope it sticks around. It seems like every Saturday, when I do my weekly weigh in for F2F, I go up, so my weigh in for the week is more than it was the last Saturday! Hope I break that pattern this week! :astonished:

    Over did my sodium yesterday. Went to bed late, and got up early to exercise. Was so tired and sleepy all day that I lay down after work, and it was after 6 when I woke! Since I didn't meal prep, I heated up some leftover soup, and it had waaaay too much sodium! I need to start meal prepping!
    Thank God His mercies are new every morning!

    Broke guideline number 4; forgot my bible study group was having a fellowship lunch today. Went to a Bakery Café. I was doing good; I ordered a rotisserie chicken salad that came on lettuce, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, and boiled eggs. That's when the bird flew over the Coocoo's nest; they had samples of wedding cookies! I tasted a piece and it was all over except the weeping! I couldn't stop myself-I bought a dozen, and ate all of them on the way home! I thank God for the cookies: they were so good, and I thank Him that His mercies are new every morning! :'(

    Had another fellowship small group dinner tonight at a Mexican restaurant. :s I tried to make a good choice with a grilled shrimp and chicken salad. No dessert. :) Was under on sodium and calories. Got in my 12 c. water. ;) I've got 3 more days in this round, and Sunday is the 5th Sunday, so we will be having breakfast at church! :#:# I'll try to be last in line some most everything will be gone! I'll let you know how that work's out for me! ;)

    It's a beautiful morning! Woke up this morning feeling like I had not slept at all! Didn't get my exercise in; but maybe I'll go swim this afternoon!

    Nowhere near my goal, but lower than my starting weight! Did great at the 5th Sunday breakfast! Drank a 33.8 bottle on water before I went in, then waited until everyone else was served before I even went to get something. Needless to say, there was hardly anything left by then! Hip Hip Hooray! ONWARD AND DOWNWARD; LOOK OUT ROUND 21, HERE I COME! :)

    10/22:  155.0  I have a feeling steak and seafood dinner tonight is not going to move the scale downward tomorrow!

    10/23:  155.6  Help!  I got attacked by a restaurant sodium bomb!!  Pretty pleased with my choices, though.  Had shrimp and grilled asparagus instead of prime rib and mashed potatoes, a sliver of steak, and three glasses of water to my one glass of wine.  Split a 1,600 calorie cheesecake four ways.  About 350 cal over goal.  Not too shabby.

    10/24:  156.2  This too shall pass.  Had wayyyy too many carbs yesterday, so not unexpected.  Must admit I'm a little disappointed to see 156s again.  :whine:

    10/25:  156.6  Oh no.

    10/26:  156.8  Did not want to post today.  However, I have to own this and my crap choices this week.  Every year around this time for the last five years I have quit logging and started gaining.  I seem to get a glimpse of the 154s then give up soon after.  Do I want to be a victim or be victorious?  Tomorrow is a new day with new opportunities to make good decisions.  I hope I choose victory.

    10/27:  155.0  Today I choose to focus on these facts:  1) I am down 12.6 pounds since starting this group.  2) Down 16 pounds in three months.  3)  I eat muuuch more healthy than I did 90 days ago.  Winning!

    I HAVE the power and determination to do this.

    Here I am back to try once more to shift my last few pounds. stay under 160lbs.

    Observations, and Previous Rounds
    Many events along the way will scupper our best intentions, but they merely delay the achievement of our goals. Life is for living, and one must learn patience. It takes many years to put on excess weight, so It follows that it takes much time to remove, but it is coming off, bit by stubborn bit! Stick with it! The game continues!

    A lot of people get upset by apparent weight gain when they have been working their butts off. Body weight fluctuates, both up, and down, from one day to the next depending on so many factors. From my experience:
    • Changes often take several days to show on the scale.
    • A drop is often followed by a bounce up before it settles back down. A general downward trend is the aim.
    • A high sodium day usually results in a gain due to water retention, unless you drink extra fluids to flush it out.
    Don't beat yourself up over a temporary gain. Trust the process and stick with the programme.
    If you are making positive lifestyle changes it will lead to increased health and fitness.
    Slow and steady leads to sustainable weight loss.
    But remember to live a little along the way!

    21/10/2017: 159.4 Goals ✅ except didn't close the kitchen!!! Just one night out on the town, and look what happens. Got the :naughty: snack monsters :naughty: when I got home!
    22/10/2017: 159.2 Goals ✅ This is like watching paint dry! And the weekend isn't helping! Still, I have 5 more days before the next one hits!
    23/10/2017: 159.3 Goals ✅ I can live with that. It will drop soon! 159! You're going down!
    24/10/2017: 159.2 Goals ✅ Food for thought. It occurs to me that this may be my maintenance weight. I have hovered around 159 for weeks, despite keeping to my calorie goal, (10% below my TDEE), and doing loads of exercise, (and eating back minimal exercise calories). I am in the normal range for my age height and build, so I am wondering if I am being realistic in my Target Goal Weight. I'm fitter and healthier than I have been for decades. I think fit and healthy should be my new focus rather than weight loss!
    New Primary Goal - stay under 160lbs.
