here is a thing for the never-happened-before list, for me.
i was in the gym last night doing the broomstick 'dislocate' thing and this fairly-new-but-regular woman who i trade smiles with but haven't talked to was commenting. it turned into a whole little impromptu physio session about her own shoulders and me coaching her (verrrry cautiously) about how to do them herself and what they're about.
the victory part was that when i was demonstrating she asked if i'd mind pushing up my t-shirt sleeves so she could see the whole range of motion take place. so i did and she went 'wow'. said i had 'great' definition.
*preen*.34 -
Didn't have any Halloween candy! And didn't want any.21

This one is embarrassing but I'm going to share it anyway because I know it's an issue many other people are concerned with. I started out with a large and very droopy lower belly, and after losing more than 100 lbs in a year, I have loose skin on my lower belly. Today I was doing my hair and noticed in the mirror that I can see the crease between my belly and my pubic region - no more overhang, if I hold my stomach in the skin of my lower belly is wrinkled but doesn't fold over and hang down! So if you have a lot to lose and worry about loose skin, take heart, there is hope! I'm 49 and when I started my belly was completely folded over, and now it's tightening up.87

Today I hit 365 days of logging. I've had a bad week calorie-wise. I had minor surgery and the antibiotics I have to take are making me ravenous! But I have all the data I need to understand this is not the end of the world and I can recover with minimal damage.40

My trainer has added another set to my hour long workouts because it is taking me less time to recover between sets.27

I had a bad day yesterday. No.....it was a terrible day. I got into the halloween candy and just couldnt find it in myself to stop. But I logged it. And I worked out. And when I opened mfp this morning and saw the 0 in my diary I breathed a sigh of relief. Today is a new day. What I ate yesterday is done and over with. I don't have to beat myself up about it. I just have to pick up where I left off when I went to bed on Monday night and move forward.47

Baby Ruth and Butterfinger are two of my favorite candy bars and unfortunately, the bag of Halloween candy my husband bought contained both, luckily in mini size. I weighed one of each and worked it into my calories for the day and did not go back for more.26

This morning I grabbed a pair of jeans I stopped wearing years ago because they were way too tight. Fearing the worst I was pleasantly surprised when I got into them fairly easily. Woohoo!24

I love this thread.
Last night, I took my son to Dave and Busters (his chosen activity since he didn't want to trick-or-treat). I didn't intend for us to eat there, but he really wanted to. If you know this place, you know their menu is NOT healthy in the slightest unless you order a salad (and even then, not great!). I ordered a turkey burger. It came with bacon, which I gave to my son. I didn't eat the bun, and I only ate half the sweet potato fries that came with it. I drank water. I was satisfied, full and perfectly content. Even if I found it really hard to log.
I can't tell you HOW MANY TIMES in the past I would have said "oh, just this once" and eaten whatever looked appealing on the menu. But I know how "just this once" can snowball into a full day and then two and then a week. At least for me.33 -
I had to change to a smaller belt. My favorite belt is too loose now!24

No longer on regular asthma medication!!!43

As I was waiting for my zumba class to begin, I went to put my hands on my hips as usual and my hands just slipped down. Where did my "shelf" go? There's nothing left to hold my hands there. It's smooth. Guess that's what happens when you go from size 20 pants down to size 12.46

I can do regular push-ups again, without having to modify them.25

I 've have three this week:
Monday: a stranger hit on me at the gym.
Tuesday: Was told by a coworker she's noticed I've lost weight
Today: Discovered my pants were too big and I would need a belt. I only posses one, and last time I tried it on, I couldn't fit into it. Well, not only do I fit, but I can get to the 6th notch on it at my HIPS35 -
I’m so excited I just ran my fastest 5 k this year. I’ve only been running for a couple months after being overweight and inactive for quite some time. Started weight loss process in February and have now introduced running again. I finished a 5k today in 29:55. I’m so proud of my self.39

I agreed to run with my flatmates this weekend. It will be the first exercise I've done since I got to uni.23

I have several to share, after lurking for more than a year.
- no seat belt extender on vacation flights.
- collarbones!
- actual excitement when signing up for first 5K.
Thank you, everyone, for your honest and helpful posts.38 -
my physical therapist refers to me as an "athlete" which is pretty fun for my ego31

A work colleague mentioned yesterday how I was "melting away".
So sweet from a guy my son's age.24 -

My mini-goal is to get below the weight on my drivers license before I have to renew it next year!

Felt epic in Haloween/outfit for Vampires Rock show (if you are in UK and haven't seen it......GO!! it is amazing music and people and cheesey acting and banter and general epicness)
New waistcoat hunt was successful and my coat isn't quite 'too big' yet so got to wear it
Got photos with the cast afterwards too and got tickets signed and was generally geeking out massively!!43 -
So I haven't made it to the gym YET but I have kept my eating in check so I consider that a win. Also, I did indulge a little bit on Halloween but I ended out the night with over 8 miles walked and over 19,000 steps! Even though I haven't made it to the gym so far this week I have surpassed my step goal by thousands every day and after I pick my daughter up from cheer tonight I'm dropping her off and heading straight to the gym. I won't even walk in the house so I can make sure I get it done!20

Me too! It's been so long, I didn't even remember the weight I lied about on my DL. I had to look in my wallet.

At the gym the other day, I finally did knee push ups. I wasn’t even able to do them in middle school for the fitness test.
Also, in August I couldn’t do a body weight squat. Yesterday I squatted with a 45 lb bar on my back. AND I finally did a box jump with the actual box. It was always too high before. It’s exhilarating to actually see myself get stronger and reach new heights (pun intended)!26 -
I got this text from a guy I like who I just saw for the first time in a couple months. I wish I could frame this screenshot and look at it anytime i need motivation. Hard work pays off!!!42 -
Company lunch at work today: salad, pizza & wings. I planned ahead to include 2 wings (a dry rub, so no sauce) and a large salad (brought my own light dressing) for my lunch today. I resisted the pizza and other wings and stuck to my plan!! Hopefully I can resist the leftovers in the kitchen for the rest of the day as well...30

When I would sit down, my belt had been getting folded over by my belly fat. This week, that stopped happening.37

One of my fitness goals I set at the beginning of the year was to do 25 pushups. I spent 9 months not being able to do a single pushup. Today, I did 10 in a row for the first time.57

Also, I showed a progress picture to a friend who used to be morbidly obese and lost a significant amount of weight. She's now slender. Her progress was so inspirational for me (I used to weigh 320lbs) and she told me she was jealous and wished she looked that good with her shirt off. Someone who inspired me became jealous of my progress.36
