G.I. Jane? LOL... My husband used to make fun of me, because people he worked with saw me at the gym before they knew I was married to him. They actually did think that I was active duty-but that's something that I don't think I could ever do. I don't like stupid people:devil: , and it always seems like there's more than a fair share of them in positions that put them in charge of others that know much more than them. I know that it's like that everywhere, but when you're in the military, having bad leadership can get people hurt; it's hard enough having my husband in a situation like that. I have much respect for women in the military, though. My younger sister joined when she was only 17, and just after September 11th.

Where is all of our group? We are starting to fizzel away! So how has everyone been doing with the challenge? I over ate last night and it showed this morning. The 2 lbs lost is back. I am hopefull it will come back off. I think it was the combo of not getting a good cardio workout and eating like that. So I am going to step it up a notch today. Another day of selling Girl Scout cookies for me. It should be the last and I will be so glad to be done with that.

I'm hosting a slumber party at my house tonight... Six girls total(not including me:tongue: ) because my husband is still out of town and I can handle the giggling. The only problem is the tempting junk food and the fact that I don't know how to get my workout in while they're staying here. I'll probably have to wait until they go to bed, around 11:00, to be able to do anything. Hopefully it works out for me!!! Help!!!
  • I think it was just a busy day for everyone. I was on here earlier, and thought I'd go to bed. Yes well that hasn't worked out for me. K so I know that no one really wants to know this story, but you're gonna hear it anyway cuz I can't sleep and need something to do.
K so my hubby wasn't home from work yet and it was about 6:30 when I heard someone coming up the drive. (for those of you that don't remember, I don't have neighbors, I live up in the mountains and my driveway is a mile long) I didn't see headlights so I was confused. I thought maybe something happened to the truck and no lights (that's why he wasn't home yet, he was at the neighbors - 6 miles away - trying to fix the truck). Then up pulled a dirt bike with this kinda tall big guy walkin to my door. I asked if he needed help, he said he was stuck and snowed in and hadn't eaten all day and wondered if I had some food I could spare. Well the guy was half frozen, so I couldn't just turn him away. So I was getting ready to fix dinner anyway, so I told him he could stay. So I'm cooking dinner and trying to get some info outta this guy and it really isn't making sense, but he doesn't seem too weird. Little does he know but in the other room is my loaded 270, just in case you were wondering. So he eats and is polite and I'm watchin the road to see when hubby is coming. Well, finally I make up a bag of food for him to take with him and here comes hubby. Yeah. So then hubby gets a little more info out of him and says he'll help him get unstuck. Well, they left at about 8 and it's now 1:30. Thus the reason why I can't sleep. ugh. Well in-laws are coming tomorrow, maybe I'll get to take a nap while they watch the munchkin. If anything else happens you'll be the first to know:wink:

That's kinda creepy! It reminds me of something you would see in a scarey movie! Well hope DH gets home soon so you can get a few hours of sleep. How old is your LO?

6 screaming girls! You are much braver than I. I was thinking for my daughters next birthday, which mind you is in December that she could have a slumber party. I am not sure about 6 though maybe 4. I don't know how you can workout at 11:00, after 9 I am in sleep mode. Do you workout in the day also or just at night?

Punkin'head... You are so much braver than I am. Maybe it's because I have so many people in my family that are in law-enforcement, or maybe it's because I'm just paranoid and mean:tongue: , but I would have made the guy stay outside and would have given him something out the door:devil: .

Thompsons... I'm used to having all the girls come to my house-we always have my youngest sister (13 yrs) and her friends come over, and then my girls always invite their friends over, too. It usually ends up becoming a sleep over. Lucky for my husband, I take pity on him and wait until he's gone for the weekend so he doesn't have to listen to all the craziness.

I usually work out at night, just because my day is so busy. I do in-home care of my grandfather. He's living at my mom's house, and he requires 24 hour help. I'm rarely home, except at night, and our days are just so busy that waiting until the kids go to bed seems to be the easiest for me. I do get to play volleyball twice a week in the evening, before my kids go to bed, and if I'm lucky my husband is able to watch the girls for me, or my mom will take pity on me and take them if my dh is at work. I usually don't get more than 6 hours of sleep at night, but that's pretty normal for me until the weekend.
  • Well I had my weigh in yesterday at work.....I actually cheated on my weigh in. I drank about 5 big glasses of water and didn't go to the bathroom before we weighed in. It actually added about 2.5 lbs to what i weighed. I also kept all my keys and cell phone and wallet in my pocket too. Next week when we weigh in I'm going to empty my pockets and lose my belt and everything LOL. It's going to be good that we weigh in on tuesdays and my work weighs in on fridays. It will keep me motivated through out the week. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

As far as the story goes about letting someone in my house. NO THANK YOU! I have told my wife that she is to never let anyone in our house that we don't know, but i keep a shotgun, 3 bolt action rifles, a 45, and an M4 all loaded under my bed and around the house. So if anyone does come in my house ever, I feel sorry for them! I've also taken the wife to the range and taught her how load, shoot and unload every gun I have!

I need to know that pumpkinheadsmomma's hubby is home! That story's a bit freaky. I understand wanting to help the poor guy if he was half frozen and obviously in the middle of nowhere, but at the same time, there are a lot of crazies out there who would use that scenario to get what they're after.

I'm going to worry all day now! Please let us know you're both okay! HUGS!
  • Yes all is ok, we reasonably. Hubby got home last night at 4am, so I guess that isn't really night. They couldn't get the guy unstuck (hubby took a nighbor guy with him) so dear ol hubby brought him home. So at 4 am I made up the spare bed and we all got some sleep. Till this morning when apparently at some point the cat opened our bedroom door, and I went to get dressed and he was sitting on the couch. Yes our bedroom is right off the living room. I don't think he saw anything, but still, not a good feeling to wake up to. Hubby said he's a little weird, but basically everyone else on the mountain has slammed their doors in his face because this isn't the first time he's been stupid and got stuck. So now hubby took him to go feed cows this morning and hopefully will pass him off on neighbor that helped last night. But before that happens I'll probably have to feed them breakfast. Life is interesting I guess.:ohwell: weird:huh:
  • Oh yeah and now my living room smells like butt-crack  cuz his feet stunck so bad while he was sitting on my couch waiting for us to wake up. Yuck:noway:

    Hi everybody!

PHM has invited me to join this group, thank-you!

I'm 23, been married for 2 1/2 years (no kids). Trying to lose 92 pounds (80 more to go!) Just woke up one day and realized that I hate being overweight and something needed to change. MFP rocks! I love this website and all of the support.

I look forward to chatting with you all!

Well God Bless You guys!!! If it were me I'd give him breakfast and say "well, sorry we can't be more help! Good luck!" in the cheeriest tone possible. Hopefully he won't see that because you helped him this much, that he can be a mooch any longer. There's helping a guy in need and then there's being taken advantage of!

Good luck, and I hope you and your hubby get a good nap in today - seems like you deserve it!

Thank God you and your family are alright. I think that it was a very nice thing you and your husband did, especially since I'm too mean to have done it myself-short of him being close to freezing to death:devil: . The kid's slumber party turned out okay, but boy do I have some calories to work off tonight!!! Hope everyone has a great day!!!:flowerforyou:

wow, you sound like my hubby. Except the SKS under the bed is unloaded and the hand gun is in the lock box, loaded. (we have kids) Of couse we hope the white car with pretty flashing red and blue lights sitting in the driveway will be enough to keep unwanted people away.

Police officer for a husband? Doesn't that make you feel so much better?!!! My DH was an investigator in the Army, is a SF in the Air Guard, and a Correctional Officer now that he's out. My dad is a State Trooper, and my sister and her husband are also SF's in the Air Guard and Air Force. The majority of our friends are also in law enforcement. My kids are going to have many issues when they are old enough to date, LOL!!!
  • Well as of right now everything is loaded because it's just tyhe two of us.....when our lil peanut head gets here that will all change...but of course by that time we will be in our new house which is in a WAAAAYYYY better part of town! So I won't have to worry near as much!

We have a 12 gauge, a 22, and I have my dad's 1st retired State Trooper Smith & Wesson, up in my closet where the girls can't reach it. There's fully loaded magazines in the lock box, but if anyone is dumb enough to try to break in, my 90 lb dog will make them regret it before I get a chance to. The one and only time that I was ever afraid he was going to hurt someone, it was when an handy man came to my house early in the morning when everyone else was asleep. The guy went to the top of the stairs ahead of me, and along comes my dog, not knowing that anyone was in my house. As soon as he reached the landing, Peek stopped, bared every tooth in his head, and did the most ferocious growling I've ever heard. The really cool thing, though, was that he walked himself backwards and sat down right in front of my daughter's room. He knew who he was supposed to be guarding, for sure.

It's officially afternoon and I am finally getting my turn at MY computer! Happy Sunday to everyone. I just ate a big brunch (eggs and bacon and hashbrowns and toast - not great, but it's only once a week). Probably won't be eating much this afternoon and I'm making a ham tonight. It's a gorgeous day so I will be heading outdoors for sure.

Yesterday I had a ME day and ended up shopping at the mall for SIX hours! I calculated how much leisurely walking for that long (didn't even count the times I was walking briskly to the bus stop etc) and I burned 1400 calories! wow!!! I could tell I hadn't eaten enough cuz I was feeling off by the evening, so I had to eat something at 9 when I got home. I usually don't eat that late, but it turned out okay cuz I didn't get to sleep until 2 am (sick 11yr old in our house - poor guy was sick everywhere I felt so bad for him but he's a tough little man and seems better today).

Bought myself the new YOU book "YOU being Beautiful". I have some work to do in that area - not feeling as beautiful about myself as I used to. And after having such a huge life change 8 months ago and missing my home in BC so much right now and being right in the middle of winter blues, I have some work to do with loving where I am in life right now. Hopefully this book will help. Anyone else have it?

Hope you all have a happy sunday!
  • No weight loss to report this week...

Is anyone else struggling with eating after dinner? I can't seem to stop snacking! I need something to do at night instead of watching tv after hitting the gym. I feel like I should just go to bed when I get home from the gym!!

missmez thats great and good for you for taking advantage of the weather. my mother and i just got back from another walk outside uphill 48 minutes  my butt my arms my calfs all on fire but a good fire im so proud of the two of us and thought i would share with all of you again. walking this afternoon i couldnt help thinking how i accomplished something and felt so good i really think this time i can do it and i want to and i dont even mind the excercise that much walking outside is new and different and i nice change the air today was great the weather beautiful (54 big change from last weeks snow) i look foward to my walks  we will see how long this lasts lol.

4skells if u feel the need to snack after dinner i usually wait an hour to make sure im really hungry then i chose healthy snacks tbsp peanut butter on an apple, tbsp peanut butter in a 100 calorie chocolate pudding or a fruit what are you snacking on? is it just because ur watching tv that u need to snack or are you really hungry?

so what did everyone do today tro make them feel good?

When I workout, it has to be at night. I usually don't get to go to bed until after midnight, because I'm usually wide awake after working out. And I do feel like I'm starving!!!! But I make sure that I save enough calories to have a snack. I've read and been told by so many people that it is very important to fuel your body after you work out, because it supports muscle growth and recovery... It can also speed up your metabolism.

Also, I've been using Crest White Strips after I eat an evening snack. If I put one of those on, and then brush and floss my teeth, I don't feel like it's worth it to clean my teeth all over again just to have another snack I don't need. My teeth look great, too!!!

MissResa the teeth cleaning thing is a great tip! I've used it myself and just the taste of toothpaste turns me off of wanting anything else in my mouth.

I was going to share my strategy for evening munchies (although, luckily, they don't attack me very often). If I feel like eating something in the evening, I will make myself a BIG cup of herbal tea. I get flavour and it lasts a long time because it's so hot. It usually does the trick, but if I am still hungry after that (like physically hungry - not just psychologically wanting something to eat), I will have a snack - usually cereal.

Been listening to Jillian Michaels podcasts lately (trying to catch up on all of them) and she's mentioned a few times that at night, she'd prefer us to eat a lean protein snack rather than carbs. Maybe my cereal choice isn't so good? Might have to try the peanut butter snack that pepamint mentioned. Might be a better choice according to Jillian?

I've heard so many mixed things about carbs vs. protein... On the P90X program I've been doing, they suggest having a 4:1 carb/protein ratio immediately after doing a workout... But I honestly don't know if it is better to have more carbs and less protein or vice-versa. I basically try to have a little carbs with a little protein. When I worked out a bunch before, I just tried to have a healthy snack. I lost 90 lbs just eating sensibly while working out.

    Hi everyone,
I am just about ready for bed! Just wanted to say Happy Sunday to everyone. I am just so excited I am at 203 and to think I am only 3 lbs away from being out of the 200's! I just want those last 3 lbs to be gone like now! I am very impaitent and when I want something I want it so bad. Well I got a few new workout DVD's. It was a great deal at Sam's club. It was $30 for 5 work out videos. It is by Leslie Samson. It is called Walk Slim. It has a 1, 2, 3 and 4 mile walk. Then a 1 mile jog and then a Firm work out. I have tried the jog, the 2 and the 3 mile. They are really great and not as exprensive as so many. Anyway I am off to bed. Talk to you all tomorrow.
