Reading all the comments about how people start running/jogging/"plodding", I got inspired and today, when our family (my hubby, kids and I) went for a long walk along a river from one park to another, I decided to try jogging and see how far I can go. I really planned to run just 200 steps, then 1000, then... I jogged the whole distance between the parks, the entire 3.5 km (slightly more than 2 miles) without stopping once!!! and I felt like I could have continued for a longer distance...
I don't know where this endurance came from. Probably from a year of dancing Zumba on almost a daily basis.. I was just amazed at myself, at what I can do now! By the way, my current weight is 205 lb, which is down 65 lb from the starting point 10 months ago.51 -
Yesterday my husband apologized to me for "stealing" my steps by going out to bring the trashcan in. We have a long driveway, so round trip gives me about 750 steps. The best thing was, he said he needed the steps for himself. Ha! I still remember the first time he saw me weighing my food, he laughed at me. Now, we're competing for the chores that give the most steps.56

This made me smile lol. I consistently set myself stupid tasks just to get my step count up and people think im crazy. Super cute to have someone to be slightly manic with. so adorable lol12 -
I can wear medium shirts. This is just so bizarre. (Also says a lot about vanity sizing lol). I'm also feeling pretty grateful for my figure. Despite still being several (30ish) pounds heavier than my mother and sister I can wear the same clothes and some even look better on me. It's a little petty but it makes me so happy to not feel like the frumpy one all the time.30

Took it up a notch on weight training day. I haven't increased weight in a while, so I'm pretty excited about it.18

Lol. Yes, it is. I always do better with a little competition.6 -
Over a year ago, my size 42 waist pants became too tight to zip or button, so I went completely size 44, relaxed fit, and comfort waist (elastic band) to boot. Lately with my post-bypass surgery weight loss, those pants were looking way too roomy (my butt is disappearing), so I pulled my only remaining pair of size 42 chinos out of the closet, and... They were LOOSE!
So I got online and ordered some size 40's, flat front (been wearing pleated front for years), and classic fit, NOT relaxed! Yea me!36 -
Some time last year I injured my hip and did several months of physical therapy. In spite of only being allowed to do very light exercise, I lost 60 pounds.
I got the ok to go workout again and went back to my Zumba class. At 243 pounds I always needed a few breaks and wasn't always able to jump.
At 183 pounds I didn't need a break and I was shocked that I kept up and now I can even jump! I'm so excited and I wonder if as I continue to lose I'll be able to keep up with the women who workout in the front row of the class.24 -
Got up before the crack of dawn to donate platelets. All went well and the nurse told me that I should not exercise vigorously today. I took her advice. HAHA! Back at it tomorrow.
Also cooked a large spaghetti squash casserole for dinner. Fed everyone and put some meals in the freezer. It will be enjoyable to have a change of pace from salads for lunch.16 -
Constantly needing new clothes. I pull my jeans out of the dryer and don’t know who they belong to. They’re now the smallest pants in a house full of teenage boys and grown men. I’m so thankful and determined to get to -100. I was so fat, and now I’m about to averageish. It’s a great feeling!36

Sign of a dedicated Parkrunner/truly bad exercise-obsessed mother - my four year old volunteers at the finish funnel with her dad and brother. She's normally halfway down it but today she was at the front of it, so she could see the runners better I think. My son and I were running towards the finish when she starts screaming "I CAN SEE MUMMY!!!". We're about 300 yards away at this point and as we get closer, she's screaming louder and louder. She then jumps out in front of me about two yards from the finish line, with her arms outstretched for a hug, still screaming. I was just awful, I yelled at her to get out of the way so that I could get to the finish line. And of course, once I'd said it, I felt dreadful because she's just a little girl who had stood in the rain for over an hour, waiting for the run to start and then as a volunteer, saying "Well done" to everyone (all 444) who went through the finish line, and she just wanted to have a hug with her mum. It would have added a couple of seconds to my time. No big deal. I did go back, once past the finish line and before getting my token to give her a massive hug. Terrible behaviour. I am so ashamed. My poor little girl! My only excuse is that I was focused on the finish line . . . but I'm going to make it up to her by spending the afternoon playing with her. She may forgive me.
Madwife I hope you had a wonderful afternoon with your daughter, your love for your children is so apparent on here that they will know it too and the little mistake made in irritation won't factor into her memories of park runs with you.
I also wanted to say that your posts on here are so inspiring and bring me so much joy. I can never wait to catch up on the forum to see your posts.
Your stubbornness has spurred me on in more than one occasion thinking if you can cycle and run in all weathers than I can jolly well do it too.

I ran 1 mile at 5.5 on the treadmill! When I started in September I could only do 0.5 miles before having to stop. Sooooo happy! Now I want to to work up to running 1 mile at 6.0 without stopping. Currently can only do 0.3 miles...24

Bumped ribs with my SO during a "hug" this weekend.
Mind you, mine are still very much padded but he said he can now see them peeking through!
Gone are the days of weird, fat, squelchy noises in the bedroom, I guess?32 -
Just back from the last run of c25k I can “run” for 2 miles (not 5k!!) in 30 minutes without stopping. Wooo.24

In a crowded bar over the weekend and I was suddenly aware that I was not having any anxiety over having to walk between chairs, people, etc on my way to the ladies room. I fit everywhere I go now . So weird.39

This morning i felt fat. Asin, nothing has changed, i still have a giant tummy pouch fat. I know I've lost some weight but in my belly area i just don't notice as much. So i went and looked in a full length mirror for the first time in.. weeks? months? But.. I NOTICED A CHANGE
MY TUMMY IS VISIBLY SMALLER NOW
im so happy. After this being my "problem area" for years i just want it to go already. but it has changed OMG ITS WORKING30 -

Ate like *kitten* while I was camping over the weekend. Felt pretty guilty but back on track today even though im up 4 lbs on the scale.
Went to the gym today to do my usual workout and get back on track. Some of the staff chased me down during my warm up that i look great and they're super impressed with my progress.
You win some, you lose some, but i think you mostly win.25 -
This morning I walked 3.1 miles, 10,000+ steps, without stopping, for the very first time. I'm going to be able to finish the Turkey Trot! 3.1m = the 5K!!!
That's great! I've been walking as well and started off with 1 mile- now up to 2.5 miles (I'm 60 and have been an avid couch potato for the last few years)- 3 miles will be in the near future. So good for you- well done!
