->" U.S. employees at large-sized companies (1000 employees or more) only spend 45 percent of their time on primary job duties. So what about the other 55 percent of the time? Their respondents reported spending 14 percent of their workweek on email. The other 40 percent of their working hours were spent on meetings, administrative tasks, and "interruptions."

I work for a company with ~2,500 people that's part of a larger company with ~24,000 people. I'd say that's accurate, if not a slight underestimation.

Apart for “interruptions” I would class meetings and emails and admin as part of the primary job duties.

Like say you are a nurse, how do you do your job with out spending time at the start and end of your shift in a meeting doing handover.

Maybe I just have a different idea in what counts as primary and secondary tasks.

A piece of paper can be folded no more than 9 times.

The myth: You can't fold a paper in half more than eight times.

The reality: Given a paper large enough—and enough energy—you can fold it as many times as you want.

The problem: If you fold it 103 times, the thickness of your paper will be larger than the observable Universe: 93 billion light-years.
