Got up before the crack of dawn to donate platelets. All went well and the nurse told me that I should not exercise vigorously today. I took her advice. HAHA! Back at it tomorrow.
Also cooked a large spaghetti squash casserole for dinner. Fed everyone and put some meals in the freezer. It will be enjoyable to have a change of pace from salads for lunch.16 -
Constantly needing new clothes. I pull my jeans out of the dryer and don’t know who they belong to. They’re now the smallest pants in a house full of teenage boys and grown men. I’m so thankful and determined to get to -100. I was so fat, and now I’m about to averageish. It’s a great feeling!36

Madwife2009 wrote: »15th Parkrun this morning.
Wet, windy, miserable, steamed up glasses, dodge-the-puddles sort of parkrun . . . but my son and I finished. I had to run at a walking pace for some of it as my son was struggling with a tight chest (it usually goes off if he walks instead of running) and my foot and ankle were playing up but we made it through and got our tokens at the end. Another rubbish time but hey, we finished.
Sign of a dedicated Parkrunner/truly bad exercise-obsessed mother - my four year old volunteers at the finish funnel with her dad and brother. She's normally halfway down it but today she was at the front of it, so she could see the runners better I think. My son and I were running towards the finish when she starts screaming "I CAN SEE MUMMY!!!". We're about 300 yards away at this point and as we get closer, she's screaming louder and louder. She then jumps out in front of me about two yards from the finish line, with her arms outstretched for a hug, still screaming. I was just awful, I yelled at her to get out of the way so that I could get to the finish line. And of course, once I'd said it, I felt dreadful because she's just a little girl who had stood in the rain for over an hour, waiting for the run to start and then as a volunteer, saying "Well done" to everyone (all 444) who went through the finish line, and she just wanted to have a hug with her mum. It would have added a couple of seconds to my time. No big deal. I did go back, once past the finish line and before getting my token to give her a massive hug. Terrible behaviour. I am so ashamed. My poor little girl! My only excuse is that I was focused on the finish line . . . but I'm going to make it up to her by spending the afternoon playing with her. She may forgive me.
Madwife I hope you had a wonderful afternoon with your daughter, your love for your children is so apparent on here that they will know it too and the little mistake made in irritation won't factor into her memories of park runs with you.
I also wanted to say that your posts on here are so inspiring and bring me so much joy. I can never wait to catch up on the forum to see your posts.
Your stubbornness has spurred me on in more than one occasion thinking if you can cycle and run in all weathers than I can jolly well do it too.
Thanks for being you and writing how it is.16 -
I ran 1 mile at 5.5 on the treadmill! When I started in September I could only do 0.5 miles before having to stop. Sooooo happy! Now I want to to work up to running 1 mile at 6.0 without stopping. Currently can only do 0.3 miles...24

PG alert!
Bumped ribs with my SO during a "hug" this weekend.
Mind you, mine are still very much padded but he said he can now see them peeking through!
Gone are the days of weird, fat, squelchy noises in the bedroom, I guess?32 -
Just back from the last run of c25k I can “run” for 2 miles (not 5k!!) in 30 minutes without stopping. Wooo.24

In a crowded bar over the weekend and I was suddenly aware that I was not having any anxiety over having to walk between chairs, people, etc on my way to the ladies room. I fit everywhere I go now . So weird.39

Ate like *kitten* while I was camping over the weekend. Felt pretty guilty but back on track today even though im up 4 lbs on the scale.
Went to the gym today to do my usual workout and get back on track. Some of the staff chased me down during my warm up that i look great and they're super impressed with my progress.
You win some, you lose some, but i think you mostly win.25 -
This morning I walked 3.1 miles, 10,000+ steps, without stopping, for the very first time. I'm going to be able to finish the Turkey Trot! 3.1m = the 5K!!!
That's great! I've been walking as well and started off with 1 mile- now up to 2.5 miles (I'm 60 and have been an avid couch potato for the last few years)- 3 miles will be in the near future. So good for you- well done!

My double (triple ???? or just big ole bulging) chin is at least 80+ percent GONE (forever) and my face and neck area is looking terrific--it's sooooo NICE to not see all that fat under my chin/neck area anymore.
AND
I didn't get chosen for jury duty today
AND
I'm at peace and learning that patience, endurance and hopefulness is fabulous and fun and oh so good to/for me!27 -
Was able to almost run the entire trail run during my bootcamp this morning. I am not a runner, and my goal is to be able to run a 5K. We took a video in the gym on how to take our measurements with me as the model. I am absolutely horrified at how I looked and my numbers, but see it as a starting point, not permanent.26

FARTLEK! (Hehheh I said fart.)
Fartlek is a Swedish term for "speed play." Basically it's a running form of interval training, short periods of faster running alternated with slower running or (for beginners, which I am) even walking. So, my husband and I were bored with slowly plodding around the lake and decided to mix it up a bit by challenging each other to some faster intervals. We had a great time and laughed a lot, and in addition almost ran our first ten minute mile - our previous best was a little under eleven, and when we looked at the tracker later we discovered we ran one of our miles in ten minutes and two seconds. So close! We covered nearly six miles overall, both on the track and cross country, adding up the intervals about three miles total were running at a good clip, as opposed to jogging. And I'm also really liking the way my body feels afterwards, my wonky knee seems to prefer mixed intervals to steady state. My husband says similar good things about his hip issues, although he seems to be coming down with a cold so he can't really judge how he feels overall.
We also stopped and had a good look at a deer in the middle of our run, which is another advantage to just running whatever pace you feel like. We have seen this little deer beside the boardwalk several times as we ran past, and apparently he's used to us by now, because he kept nibbling leaves when we were about three feet away.21 -
I have another victory today, we found a great little restaurant which serves food exactly suited to the way I prefer to eat. It's a Cajun Catfish place. It's on the way from the park where we run to our home, so we go by it every time on the way back from running, and we have been saying we meant to stop for the longest time. We finally did, and I absolutely stuffed myself for about 500 calories. Memphis food leans heavily towards cheesy, saucy, breaded and fried, as well as carb-heavy sides which don't do me any favors either as a dieter or a diabetic. But while this place has its share of all those things, it also has delicious grilled blackened fish, and several varieties of light prepared vegetables: greens, cabbage, steamed zucchini, white beans, pickled okra, etc. My meal ended up being low carb enough that I splurged on two pieces of garlic bread and my glucose levels were great when I checked them later! So nice to have another healthy alternative to making dinner for myself.26

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
So very hyper!!!
So this morning I have:
- lifted weights and upped my bench press to 29kg
- swam a mile
- done the swim circuits class in which I decimated my mate (all friendly competition he loves me really ) and did 2 lengths under water!! we got 10 breaths in the middle, so I was doing really slow pilates style breathing and made it all the way back with the brick!!! feel fan-frickin-tastic!!
The 2 lengths underwater with restricted break is my NSV, the trainer was mega impressed that I apparently did the last 10m after starting to lose my air!
Got squash tonight and hopefully I will be just as buzzy!! am loving the energy I have right now!!18 -

@quiksylver296 you are a BEAST! My She-ro!
My NSV is that I got a pedicure the other day and the super chatty nail tech kid was talking about drug/alcohol addictions and went on to talk about food and obesity and how hard that has to be because you cannot live without food. He didn't believe me when I told him that I could 100% identify because I used to be super morbidly obese. When he asked to see a "before" pic he nearly fell off his chair and said he couldn't tell/couldn't believe that I was ever that big. I always just kind of assumed it was obvious.35 -
Went to the doctor yesterday and my doctor asked me how the heck I lost so much weight, surgery? I was like nope, just calories and dieting! Boom!30
