Here's what I did for my oatmeal this morning:
40g oats
1/4 cup canned pumpkin (Used Trader Joe's organic brand)
20g raisins
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Stevia (I used about 1.5 packets, I put another 1.5 in my coffee)
about 20g walnuts
It was delicious. I've been trying to make my own pumpkin spice oatmeal but I think the raisins and walnuts makes it work better.1 -
Maple, brown sugar and fresh blueberries every time!!1

I got a weird craving earlier...Made a serving of my peanutbutter out of peanut flour....And stirred in uncooked oats. Was yummy. Helped with my peanutbutter oatmeal cookie craving.
Was realizing was likely this thread that made me crave that lol.0 -
Another savory oat recommendation. Steel cut oats take a little more time than rolled oats but taste better and have texture. Try adding bouillon, or even better cook with (home made ) stock instead of water. Pick one or more from list below to try;
- Sautéed onion, celery, and (hot?)peppers
- Garlic (roasted?)
- Sausage
- Ham
- Bacon
- Shrimp
- Cheese, various types
My current favorite sweet adds are dried blueberry and dried montmorency tart cherries because I recently bought each in bulk.2 -
I but cheap plums or rhubarb once a week and stew them gently in the microwave with a small amount of vanilla sugar. Takes 20 mins max. Then decanted into sterilised jars and used with the oatvrab. I also mix some with yoghurt and freeze for low fat puddings...0

I love like steel cut oats.
I brought some to work the other day -- plain with no milk-- only some salt.0 -

I'm not a sweet oatmeal person either. I just stir in a tablespoon of chia seeds into my old fashioned oats near the end of cooking and then put a half a tablespoon of Kerrygold butter on top.0

Savory is the way to go...i add ground chicken sundried tomatoes baby spinach mushrooms onions garlic parmesan cheese italian seasoning. I sometimes use all the ingredients listed or part. Its good savory.0

A tablespoon of natural peanut butter (such as Teddie brand or Smuckers), and a handful of fruit - I usually do either raisins or blueberries for higher protein & fiber. Lately i've been "converting" Bob's Red Mill Strawberry Apple Granola into oatmeal, by heating a half cup of it in a half cup of unsweetened coconut milk and a small handful of blueberries.0

I mix my oatmeal with Skyr - icelandic yoghurt. Its low fat/high protein.0

Over night Oats! Old fashioned oats with plain greek yogurt, milk and protein powder1

With steel cut just brown sugar
With old fashioned rolled peanut butter and chocolate chips. Tastes like a cookie!1 -
I use cinnamon, blueberries, slivered almonds and unsweetened coconut flakes.1

I like to add berries. Whatever I have on hand at the time (blueberries, strawberries, blackberries etc). I also add a half a banana if I want extra sweetness. Chopped Walnuts are also very tasty. A splash of milk helps make it not so gummy/thick after its been cooked.0

Saving for all these yummy recipes!0

I like savory oatmeal! Soy sauce, sriracha, scallions, and a sunny side up egg. And when I want something sweet: peanut butter, chocolate, and berries.
I use steel cut oats and make a savory side dish occasionally for dinner using things like mushrooms and onions. It is a nice change from potato, rice, pasta, of which I eat 1/2 cup every night. Steel cut oats are good for breakfast too, but do take longer to cook. I like adding orange juice and orange zest.

I usually add cinnamon and a mix of flax, chia, and hemp seeds in mine. Then I add whatever fruit happens to be in season. My favorite is thinly sliced frozen banana and some cocoa powder.
