My first challenge - only saw it yesterday so am starting today instead.
I am also doing weight training twice a week and aiming to lose slow and steady to ensure its fat loss and not muscle loss! Anyway here goes ...

R22 start - 151.4
Target for end of R22 - to be under 150.0

11/9 Went to the gym for an hours GVT session with my PT - my legs and shoulders ache!!
11/10 151.40 - not massively impressed with myself but have to start somewhere...... Good food day planned
11/11 150.00 - WOW! Felt I had a good day yesterday food wise and walked 12,460 on my fitbit and felt i was back on track. Even managed to contain myself at our Brownie camp fire evening and only have a few toasted marshmallows and no full on smores! Under no illusions will carry on losing at this rate but will enjoy the feeling and hopefully it will keep me motivated over the weekend which is always a toughie!
11/12 149.9 - will take that happily! Didn't do much walking today - day doing tasks like housework and ironing - but out for a bike ride today so will sneak in a bacon sarnie as planning a 45 mile ride!

11/13 150.20 - hhhmmm. + 0.30 ???? ended doing a 58 mile road bike ride yesterday too!! Only had a bowl of porridge before the ride, a bacon sarnie at out cafe stop and a flapjack Can only put it down to the fact that I did have a pretty large dinner last night (needed it after my ride) full Sunday roast and included a homemade apple crumble and I don't usually have dessert. Won't let it phase me - a good food day set up for today though and a short 12 mile ride tonight to loosen up my legs - so its all good

11/14 148.00!!! go figure? But very happy! Can't believe how much weight can vary day to day!! Was obviously a big serving of apple crumble on Sunday!! I did do another 12 mile bike ride yesterday evening to loosen up my stiff legs after Sunday. Off to the gym tonight for PT session. Will be more than happy to maintain this weight for a few days and finish off the round at this weight - maybe 147.5??

11/15 147.7 - ache from gym a bit last night (pyramid training session!) - and a happy scale day

Interesting that I have upped my calories slightly this week - weight had stuck for a while so joined this challenge and upped my calorie goal by 200 a day - all good so far!! Weight is all in the right direction - 3.7 lbs since the start of the challenge - would love end of R22 to be 147.50

I HAVE the power and determination to do this.

I am in the normal range for my age height and build, so I am on maintenance. I'm fitter and healthier than I have been for decades. I think fit and healthy should be my new focus rather than weight loss!

New Primary Goal - stay under 160lbs.
Failed miserably at this last round. I am determined to do better this time round.

Losing a pound a week would be ace, as I would like a cushion for celebrations.

to all the Newbies, and Hi to those returning for another Round. This has given me an element of daily accountability which is motivational.

Observations, and Previous Rounds

Many events along the way will scupper our best intentions, but they merely delay the achievement of our goals. Life is for living, and one must learn patience. It takes many years to put on excess weight, so It follows that it takes much time to remove, but it does come off, bit by stubborn bit! If you stick with it! The game continues!

A lot of people get upset by apparent weight gain when they have been working their butts off. Body weight fluctuates, both up, and down, from one day to the next depending on so many factors. From my experience:

Changes often take several days to show on the scale.
A drop is often followed by a bounce up before it settles back down. A general downward trend is the aim.
A high sodium day usually results in a gain due to water retention, unless you drink extra fluids to flush it out.

Don't beat yourself up over a temporary gain. Trust the process and stick with the programme.
If you are making positive lifestyle changes it will lead to increased health and fitness.
Slow and steady leads to sustainable weight loss.
But remember to live a little along the way!

Awww! Thanks for your concern. Worry not! I am much better, making sure I get proper nutrition, and keeping hydrated. Just being able to do gentle exercise and move about has helped.

I’ve been having a hard time getting my workouts in too. Seasonal change? I don’t know. Walking in the evening has been about all I can do. Keep at it. I bet one good gym trip will get you back on track!

11/11 - 151.2 - may have dodged a bullet here. I had some girlfriends sleep over last night and ate pizza. I woke up in the middle of the night with horrible stomach cramps and...erm...expelled the pizza. I hadn't had any bread or dairy in months, so maybe i'm allergic to something...like pizza. We'll see if it sticks, I know there may be a rebound effect.

I’ve done 14 of these challenges which is exactly 20 weeks. I started MFP before joining the challenges so there’s no starting whoosh represented here. I’ve been aiming at a 500-calorie per day deficit which would theoretically result in a 1-pound/week loss. From high to low in 20 weeks I’ve lost 24 pounds. I’ll take it! CICO!!

11/9 252.0 -- up a touch but ate with reckless abandon yesterday and I know some of it is water by how my ring feels. Wedding ring fell off once yesterday but it won’t this morning. Ordered ring guards. Lose weight? Yes. Lose wedding ring? NO!.
11/10 253.8 -- Salty food and too much of it. The scale just gave me the dope slap.
11/11 255.8 -- Took a day off to eat with reckless abandon -- much of it salty. Resume new normal today!
11/12 255.0 -- After a couple nights of late night snacking it could be very easy to slide into an old pattern. Tonight I go to bed and read. There’s no food downstairs in the bedrooms. (Our house is “upside down.”)
11/13 255.0 -- I clearly need to set myself an arbitrary rule to prevent reckless eating late at night. Okay. Here it is. Simple really. No eating after 9 p.m.
11/14 254.4 -- There we go. Ate at a deficit. Logged everything. Back on the right path because I did not eat after 9 p.m.

11/15 254.0 -- Homemade pizza was still within calories & I did not eat after 9 p.m.

There are lots of free exercise videos on YouTube if you can figure out a way to watch them while exercising. I have a laptop I can just move to where I want to do the exercise but I've also figured out how to stream YouTube with FireTV.

11/11 - 188.8 I was expecting this. I had 2 cheat days where I ate everything (including things I shouldn't have because I know that they make me bloat! Ex. salty food, rice, potatoes, bread etc). I'm back on the wagon today though!!!
11/12 - 189.4 Its starting to look like this might be the very first round where I end higher than I began. I'm very upset at my lack of discipline this week. I'm going to refocus my energy today and see if I can make up for the cheating a little bit.

11/9: 157.0 This is the calm before the holiday season storm! I am hopeful for a solid 10 days to keep me focused on my goals leading into the holidays. I feel like I wavered the last 10 and lost some mental momentum. Toying with idea of signing up for a Thanksgiving 5k as the end of my C25K program will be falling right around that day! It's aptly named the "gobble wobble" as I am sure I will be wobbling by the end!

11/10: 154.8 Ummmm I knew I ready for a whoosh but this was a crazy number! I fully expect to rebound some but overall a nice low that is motivating to see. I did sign up for the 5k on Thanksgiving, cue anxiety!!

11/11 156.8 Hello rebound! Pizza last night. Still a downward trend.

11/12 Didn't weight. Not home.

11/13: 158.0 I really didn't want to see this number again but oh well. I was lax this weekend. Finishing up C25k soon. I ran 2 miles straight yesterday/28 minutes total.

11/14: 156.0 Better. Staying focused today and getting a run in later.

11/15: 155.8 The scale was funky this morning. Gave me a higher reading first then this reading. Had a great day yesterday. Good deficit and ran 3 miles straight! This is completely mind boggling to me since I have "loathed" running my entire life. Bring on the 5k!

11/12: 218.0 - I expected as much. Too much alcohol and TOM on the way. Chugging water hoping it will go down some for my official weigh in tomorrow.

11/9 - 246.2 - I felt pretty good about yesterday. Got my exercise in, ate within my calories. Glad the scale reflected that!
11/10 - 244.0 - Finally making progress again! Woo!!
11/11 - 243.2 - Got a lot of sleep last night. Trying to get over this cold! Today I'm going to try out some keto recipes to see if that might work for me.
11/12 - 242.0 - Really pleased with the progress I'm making. Maybe I can be in the 230s by the end of this challenge. That would be awesome!

11/15 - 240.6 - Last night we had a nurse come over to take blood for our life insurance. Because it was a little late and my arm was a little sore, I decided to make last night a rest night and I didn't exercise. I still had my 10k steps, though! So, I feel pretty good about the very small loss. At least it wasn't a gain! I know tomorrow is going to be a loss, I fee my determination. Tomorrow, I WILL be in the 230s!

Below is my progress from round 7 to 22, it is a 25lb difference. I felt quite good in the first picture because I'd lost over 30 pounds already. I wish I had taken lots of pictures when I started, I have a few I still can't share, it's hard. Regardless, this is 25lbs, this feels really good, this is my motivation to move on! (I should have wore a belt because there is a waist under that red shirt!)

My goal is to reach 10% body fat by year end... actually by 12/30 because that is when my Dexa is scheduled. I'm going to list weight and BF% based on my scale, which is going to fluctuate at times as diet changes. On some days - and I know when those are based on diet - it will be inaccurate.

11/9 - 149.6 lbs. - 16.8% - scale is reading higher than actual BF%

11/10 - 148.4 lbs. - 15.9% - scale is still higher than actual BF%, but getting closer to actual

11/11 - 147.2 lbs. - 16.9% - scale is higher than actual BF%, this time not expected

11/12 - 148.6 - 16.8% - scale is still showing higher than actual BF%, still not entirely expected. I have a theory as to what is driving the incorrectly high BF%.

11/13 - 148.6 - 18.5% - Yesterday was a re-feed / glycogen replenishment day. I'm surprised weight did not also increase, but expected BF% to be unreliable. I expect it to remain that way for the next 2-3 days.

11/14 - 147.2 - 16.4% - Depending on whether I eat a lot of fibrous green vegetables today, BF% will either stay pretty stable by tomorrow morning or will decrease. I may find it hard to feel full without lettuce or green beans... but since scale BF% is just artificially high if I eat them and real BF% is not truly much different, I'm probably going to eat greens if I'm hungry anyway.

11/15 - 146.4 - 15.6% - No veg yesterday, scale is closer to a correct BF%.

11/9 172.8 off to a good start. to be truthful I'm not expecting any major moves on the scale, since I had a good loss this past week. but maybe by the end of this round I can see another

11/11 172.4 seems good! I'm feeling a bit dehydrated from booze and popcorn last night . Planning a quick hike down to the river with the kiddos and the dogs today, so gotta drink up the H20!

11/12 173.4 (bf: 38.8%) We had bbq takeout last night after our hike.I think I did ok food wise, I guess I could call it a maintenance day since I ate a bit too much but nothing crazy. I'm up a lb, but down a percentage point of body fat, so I know it's water. Back on plan today, hoping for a good loss by Wednesday.

11/13 173.4 well, yesterday I was not completely successful with my plan. Tightening up today.

11/14 172.8 again. my weekend weight didn't stick around nearly as long this time. I'll consider it a good sign that things are moving in the right direction.

11/15 171.8 Yeah! Might make it to my goal after all? or close to it? Only 10 lbs heavier than my sister who has been smaller than me my whole life.. not for long
