Hypothyroidism; Catabolic Exercise

I find it appalling that several of these recent contributions dismiss the qualifications of a pharmacist. I wonder had the pharmacist in question been a male would he be treated so abominably. I would expect the qualifications of a qualified pharmacist to be beyond reproach. From my understanding, if one has an issue with any medication its the pharmacist you consult, our poor doctors being so very hard pressed.
The pharmacist in question is someone who also found the treatment she was advised to use for her Hashimoto's did not get to the bottom of her thyroid related problems. She has the advantage of being able to turn her highly educated brain to her issues in hand, as well as her understanding of medicinal interactions. When one recognises that most western diets are deficient in many micro nutrients compared to those consumed in the past, making use of a product which goes some way to bridge the gap, is probably worth a try and if it is found good in one person then it might be worth another in a similar position giving it a try. In these days of freedom of speech, choice and free will, its up to the individual to make their choice, based on the degree of difficulty their symptoms cause them. This woman discovered the product debated above actually aided her, easing her symptoms and shares this with people who read the information she freely shares. If she puts a link in her information and declares she receives advertising revenue then what is the problem. Either you buy or you don't, if you do, you start with one pill or what ever, then if the results are good you can increase to the suggested level and never go over without medical supervision! Freedom of choice. Likewise on the site is a subscription to view a Functional Medicine presentation which should also help people heal, but then Functional Medicine is a bad thing in your world. I have no idea what the conversion rate is now, but for a year's subscription to view of less than £2 a week, having the opportunity to heal yourself, had I not proceeded along the road already, I'd be doing it too.
From my experience as stated in many places, the conventional medicines t4 only treatment does not do a thing to help, so anything in the way of supplements is worth considering. One thing our Medical profession never tells the individual, from my experience, is that as well as they synthetic iodine they want to pump into you, you would also benefit from selenium and other vitamins and minerals, many whose thyroid issues are not too advanced would benefit from this simple addition, or even being told to increase their dietary iodine which usually comes with the other minerals and things. But the Doctors know best and need to be deferred to. only I can't, I've been failed, also as stated many, many times.
I know I live with a different food manufacture regulatory system, we are protected from the people who would sell us empty or dangerous product made in a dirty back kitchens. Nothing is permitted legally onto the market without it being produced in regulated premises. We have several well respected companies which include in their thyroid preparations some of the ingredients listed in the Wobenzym. If one examines the range of products you find the rest of the ingredients and more. I have not seen this product over here, there can be many reasons, that is simply not exported to us.
I would not set out to deny someone, something which may bring relief to some of their symptoms, of any conceivable ailment, yet those of you on here bay like wolves ready for the kill because someone is considerate enough to bring this to the attention of people who may benefit. The product mentioned was to picked up or rejected. Freedom of Choice.13 -

I still hold that someone who has experienced something is better placed than those who do know, those who are kind enough to hold something out as a "may" be help, is of better worth than those who take sledgehammer words and dismiss Functional Medicine which achieves results by using the blood tests the same as the regular quacks who know less than many of those who's lives have been deeply disrupted by Hashimoto's and other Autoimmune problems. They certainly, our general medics, are not doing anything to reduce the prevalence of autoimmune conditions. Then when they go jump on the Functional Practitioners work as a Scottish Hospital did the other day, announcing they had reversed Type 2 diabetes they make it sound as if it is something new where as its been happening for years.6

Jillian Micheals was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. She implemented real, tangible solutions to overcome a problem.
Jeffrey S. Brown, MD has developed a regimen treating Hashimoto's. Once again he did so by studying the underlying issues and providing real, tangible solutions backed with objective data.
Look to those offering actual solutions and data. Be wary of those looking to profit by offering a sympathetic ear and peddling snake oil.

I'm wondering, Lcoulter23, if you are referring to my comment above. I am not misinformed, I am perusing science where it leads me. My thyroid status has been faulty for a life time. I have had much longer to acquire additional problems than yourself, thankfully, longer than most of you reading my words. It is my hope that none of you ever go on to contend with the range of health problems I am gradually over coming. If many of you are happy to under go surgery to resolve health problems which are reversible in many circumstances, then so be it. It is my expectation that in the fullness of time what I have written will be commonly accepted.
I'm 36 years old, don't let the screen name fool you. I've also had this disease since I was a baby. I think I know what I'm talking about.
P.s I wasn't referring to your comment. I was commenting on the original post. Sorry for the mixup2 -
Also, I have hypoparathyroidism, not ordinary hypothyroidism. I also have aspergers syndrome, bipolar disorder, polycystic ovarian syndrome and insulin resistance, vitamin b 12 and iron deficiency, pernicious anemia, and a partridge in a pear tree. I've taken several medical classes, done my research, and exercise and diet are perfectly safe and recommended by endocrinologist all around the world to patients with this disease.5

Lol I'm sorta a nerd. I love all things science, but I'm also really into researching health related things. My mom is a nurse and I have read all her books as well. I think the thirst for knowledge thing is part of the aspergers though. I wasn't diagnosed until a few years ago, but I've always been a researcher. And I remember most of what I read. My therapist said there's a strong chance that I'm a savant because of the amount of the material I remember.4 -

Would you happen to have a link that would support your statement above to be factual? She seems to be a real person with a real name unlike some posting here.

Thank you, but telling me Jillian Mitchael's was diagnosed and some endocrinologist wrote a book does not do anything for someone who struggled for years to achieve a diagnosis/explanation of why I was so ill. Here in the UK you have to fit a box and if you don't, you end up very ill, with no life, being house bound. I had a professor in immunology telling me, all your health issues are because you have Hashimoto's, your own combination of problems, then on the other hand I had the small town endocrinologist telling me the Professor does not know anything and then not being permitted to go back in the hope of achieving any health improvements. When both the pill form of t4 as well as the liquid form also increasing the range of my symptoms I had nothing left but to do but research for myself.
Working from the point of being at the edge of science I have virtually got there. I did my due diligence. I consider the only way I have my health back as far as I have is by following the functional perspective. Reducing my antibodies and hoping to maintain them in a kind of remission.
Arthritis, perennial rhinitis along with many conditions including well known and oft disregarded female problems are among the early symptoms of an endocrine system in distress. I have know early onset endometrial cancer being dismissed Disease: what your doctor does not tell you Food sensitivities and such arrive much later on down the road to greater damage.
Not only does the thyroid gland put out t4 and t3 thyroid hormones it also produces calcitonin. When calcitonin is low the growth and repair of the skeleton is compromised and will facilitate the ingress of osteoarthritis and plays a large part in osteoporosis. Its in the medical texts. Chronic bronchitis, salicylate and phenolic problems are more complicated, it comes in on the Immune system which is how I ended up at immunology. For me it all was explained in a piece about phenols and breast cancer, by some charity. The autumn air full of decomposing leaves, fungi and bonfires may be the cause of my osteoarthritic flare up which had me on crutches only 6 weeks ago, not long before I had been running up Exeter High street like a teenager with my daughter and 20 yr old youngest but one granddaughter. To say I was devastated does not come close, all I'd worked for, lost! I did everything I'd learned, I was still deteriorating and turned to the doctor. The gel he advocated had me unable to weight bare at all! I threw it away, gave the alternative high doses of glucosamine, flas oil and much more time to bed in, turned to acupuncture. I've been put forward for hydro in short time for here but I suspect my problems now stem from my feet! More skeletal damage. Its all in the paperwork, I promise you.
No. No, two presentations of Hashimoto's are the same, even within the same family, they can have similar key concepts but with the potential for genetic/mitochondrial damage which can and dos happen expecting a straightforward diagnosis is the fortune of few.
Mary J Sholmon writes books, including, Living well with Hypothyroidism, also, Living well with Autoimmune Disease: what the doctor does not tell you, then, the thyroid diet, Manage Your Master Gland of Metabolism for lasting weight loss and then she has a web site too, life saving. Kathleen Des Mason's, Potatoes' not Prozac solutions for sugar sensitivity, may also be interesting. Brownstein, Iodine and why you need it can't live without it.5 -

Dr. Oz is real. From all objective evidence you are real.
Now that we have established the framework of reality care to cite objective data supporting Isabella Wentz's conclusions?0 -

How about providing a link which shows us she is dis-barred, probably like our Dr Edwards, who died some time ago and he knew his stuff.1
-
This would be challenging as she was never "barred" so to speak (not board certified). Still not the issue as she does not provide objective evidence to support her contentions.
Much like the underlying argument you have yet to prove contentions, but requesting proof of refute.
I would happily debate any evidence once provided. As it stands there is nothing on the table.1 -

You see, when it comes to truth we cannot deal with anything unless we first have an objective way to measure the truth of something. The best answer we have come up with is to have peer reviewed and empirical data from falsifiable and repeatable experience that come from a non-biased source.
Even with meeting that stringent set of rules we still make mistakes, and as such anyone who can't even meet that measure is not to be trusted ESPECIALLY when it comes to hard sciences like health and biology.
Someone who sells a product is by nature biased to present the success of that product and as such is not the person to test or present information on the product. They MUST show double blind independent research to have the general public trust the product.
As such to attempt to skirt these measures is to essentially prove yourself to be untrue. Is there a possibility some of these supplements might help? Sure. Is it responsible to peddle them without actually having them tested through physical evidence and reasoned logic? NO! Under NO circumstances is that the right thing to do.
Lobby for testing if you think there hasn't been enough, but to claim it can do something it isn't proven to do is simply immoral.1 -
I am stunned at how the people arguing from the pseudoscientific position think the burden of proof is supposed to work.
Absolutely mind boggling posts being made in here.5 -
I am also stunned that people will not permit someone to recognise the transformation which has been made in the quality of their lives by adding dietary supplements To have done as you all are telling me would have me totally dependant on people within a care facility because my health would have continued its ever decreasing spiral down to death, I would probably have died by now. The extremely restricted diet I was on was unsustainable because I was perpetuating my nutritional deficiencies so my problems were increasing by the month. The only permitted medication I was prescribed brought no relief, it amplified my respiratory and associated issues to the extent I feared, I'd die.
So everyone who tells me what I am saying is woo are actually telling me, I should have no quality of life, I should not enjoy the things you all take fore granted. I am unreasonable to have taken supplements which restored me to a quality of life I had before my 20's. I should not have a relationship with my 9 grandchildren and my recent born, gt grandson. You consider I have nothing of worth to add to their life experiences, I should be as I was when the 7th child was born, unable to lift let alone carry the mite. With my husband we'd taken many off for holidays they would otherwise not have enjoyed. I did substitute for parent at times. I am a hands on kind of person and am enjoying being able to do more with them all again.
It was my 7th grandchild on the autistic spectrum who understood my chemical sensitivities. Ironic really some one who has difficulties communicating feeling/reactions understood mine! I am grateful for the digestive enzymes produced in the US, they are extra sales which many detest but they address my dietary issues so I can have a normal diet again. I am experiencing benefits, I'd been told to live with a tongue which was painfully over large, now its comfortable and lies within my mouth almost perfectly at last. My NHS doctors were absolutely not help at all.
To continue from the comment I made about my arthritis. Having replaced the official knee exercises for accredited foot ones my pain is gone. In remission again, I'll be keeping the supplements high till the outside temperature is better. I'll be running down Exeter high street again, as long as I keep my feet and knees warm.
Go do your worst, I will continue to tell people what worked for me. Like I say, no two people with Hashimoto's are the same, many have far more autoimmune conditions existing in parallel.8 -

It's wonderful that you've achieved the results you have. I'd urge you to continue exactly what has worked well for you.
When you move beyond simply telling your n = 1 story, to discounting mainstream evidence-based scientifically sound medicine and advocating that others use things that reportedly worked for one person over things that have been clearly and repeatedly shown to work for many people, including some who've personally reported here? That crosses the line into woo.
Truly, I wish you nothing but the most robust health, enjoyment of life and your family, and happiness as you pursue the health course you choose for yourself.
Certainly, tell people what worked for you, plain and simple.
Go beyond that to speculate based what you believe, credit stories from one credentialed person with a supplement to shill over many with equal/better credentials and far better evidence, ignore and implicitly discount others' n = 1 stories of mainstream medicine working for them (which are equal weight to yours), and so forth? Expect people to react to that as "woo".
Please, though, do thrive on, in happiness and health!6
