Thank you, It took me a while to think of it, I tried all sorts of ways. Oven, frying pan etc, could never make it crispy in the right way if you know what I mean. So I thought try the waffle iron, and bang, perfection.
As to why, the whole idea of actually kicking it in gear and making this push I read about Andrew Taylor (ate nothing but potatoes for a year and lost 100 pounds) I thought "Wait I don't have to eat 20 pounds of Kale and Brussels Sprouts a day?" It finally clicked weight loss is math, not "eat these 5 food" "drink 20 gallons of vinegar" and all that other horse pucky. It was math, I honest to god never understood that on a real level till late last year. I mean I understood what a calorie was, but it just never clicked I could lose weight eating twikies if I wanted to.
Andrew went about it in a completely different way,but had a few premises that stuck with me. Mono food diet. Or better put keeping food simple. Moving eating from pleasure to fuel. I needed to do that badly.
Also the potato is one of the foods you can survive on with nothing else added into it for the most part.

16 hours fasting 8 hour eat window. Called Intermittent Fasting (many variations but the 16:8 is most common). There are all sorts of claims on how it helps the body burn fat, I don't buy into that aspect of it. For me it is all about the meal timing.
I eat breakfast at 11am, lunch at 2 pm dinner at 6:30pm. Then nothing at all till breakfast the next day.
It helps because if I get hungry I can just look at my watch and say "on only an hour till breakfast, I can wait" No need to go grab a snack, its been really helpful in that way.

I am so ridiculously happy for you and more importantly... YOUR HEALTH!
My father is upwards of 400lbs and I wish he would do what you did. Believe it or not, your loved ones are probably more happy than you can imagine. You will be around even longer to enjoy them and they you. THAT is more important than any aesthetic that may or may not come with your weight loss. You are healthier and stronger!
I can't describe the worry I carry every day because my father will likely not be hear long enough for his grandchildren to know, love and remember him. But you... Now you will be here to ensure that your story is told by YOU and no one else. Celebrate it not just today but every day.2 -

Well today was a big goal!
200 pounds lost since January First!!!!!! Man I am beyond excited.
Doing the math, that works out to 3646 calories burned per day, eating 1400 calories a day.
Time to slow it down, stop some of the exercise, and maybe bump up to 1500 per day.8 -

Yes the same exact thing every single day. And essentially the same meal all three meals.
There is no meal planning, meal prep is literally 1 hour work for 2 days of food.
Food moved from "pleasure" to fuel in a very good way. I no longer crave that bag of Doritios, or the twinkies. Sure I saw a new flavor of oreos yesterday and dreamed about them for the rest of my shopping trip, but I never even thought of reaching for them. Again it is just fuel, not pleasure.
That said. I am full and quite happy with what I eat every day. I haven't had one negative thought like "oh this again...." I just accept it as part of the process, like getting on the bike everyday, or going to the gym.
My daily food is this.
Breakfast 14 oz boiled red potatoes, mashed with nothing added. I put them in a waffle iron, and they taste better than I remember french frys being. I use some ketchup and a bunch of hot sauce.
1/3 cup of cheese melted on top of one of my waffles (the 14oz makes 2)
2oz of carrots.
Lunch, again potatoes in the waffle iron with ketchup and hot sauce.
3/4 cup of bran flakes. Used to have this as a mid day snack between lunch and dinner, but I would forget to eat it half the time so just started having it with lunch.
Dinner
You guessed it potatoes in the waffle iron with Ketchup and hot sauce.
7.5oz grilled chicken breast. I just add some pepper to this, no salt or anything else.
That is it, nothing else at all during the day. I have had this essentially every day since January 10th.
Once a month I have a chick fil a sandwich but still keep with the 1400 cal.
Ive gone camping a few times this year and swapped out the potatoes for tortillas and just put grilled chicken in them, again staying with the 1400cal.
Ive had Tacos I think 4 times this year, only breaking the 1400cal 3 times I think without checking my notes.
By the end of the year ill have eaten over 1000 pounds of potatoes... I buy 50 pound boxes at a restaurant supply place hah.
Making them is simple, cut up 2 days worth, boil and mash it. Separate it by weight into Tupperware containers so it is easy just to pull it out and toss it in the iron.
I also love potatoes, definitely my weakness. I'll have to try you waffle potatoes. Congrats on your lifestyle change. What an inspiration you are.2 -

Quick update at 188 now! Man it's weird to see my ribs in the mirror or heck to tuck in a shirt and know I look okay. Still very much inside my own head about how I am still "fat and duscusting". But working on it.
Size 38 jeans are a bit loose... The thought of even being able to find jeans my size the first of the year required a custom order....5 -

Thanks! No real kick in the butt. It was more about realizing you didn't have to do anything stupid like the Adkins diet or keto or "eating clean" that kind of nonsense. It was all about math and math I can embrace. The guy from Australia that ate nothing but potato for a year woke me up. I read something about it December last year and was ready to go for this year.
Come up with something that works for you. I find the simplicity keeps me going. Not the best idea for long term success but I can work on how to eat for real later...2 -
