A few months ago I was thrilled to squeeze my wedding band and engagement ring back onto my hands. Now, it's so big it slides around my finger. Also, I can now wrap my fingers around my wrist and actually touch! It's been decades!23

I drink coffee not in itself a NSV but I also use sugar in my coffee. I've tried no sugar sweetener but don't care for the after taste. Well in the last 2 months I've dropped from using over 8 teaspoons of sugar to using 4 teaspoons. I'm still working on lowering that but I call that a NSV for me. Maybe in the next 2 months I can get to 1 or none. Time will tell.
Awesome job, I have done something similar but instead of refined sugar I use real maple syrup and it is so good I do not even need cream anymore .Keep up the great work.8 -
6 month dietversary coming on the winter solstice. I've had extreme weight ups and downs for years but I've never sustained it this long and everyday I feel more confident that this time it's for the long run. Over that period I've cheated on my target calories maybe 3 or 4 times (and have had 0 days over maintenance level)22

I went to Game Stop this weekend to get a gift for my husband. There was something on the top shelf, out of reach even if I stood on tippy toes with arm stretched up, that I wanted so I jumped up, knocked it off, and caught it as I landed gracefully back on the floor. No trouble, no wobble, no breathy exclamation. Nothing at all. I would never ever have even considered doing this a few months ago. Yay for yoga and squats and lunges and the like!
From behind me, I heard a quiet "Whoa" and a not as quiet "We would've gotten that for you" from the sales clerks. I turned with a smile and said "No worries, I got it" to which one clerk said "Yeah, we see that."
Note: The item wasn't breakable or I would've asked for help.

Maple syrup sounds like a great idea, barring the option of drinking black coffee. Coconut sugar could also help?

Zipped up into a New Balance running jacket I bought almost two years ago! It didn't even zip when I bought it, it was just the largest size they had at the outlet store.14

I've not heard of Coconut sugar...I'll have to look for some at my local grocery. I tend to drink 1 20 oz travel mug a day.1 -
Have had the goal of getting to 6000 miles on the bike since I started tracking miles in May 2016. We had an unseasonably warm weekend the first weekend of December and was able to get my 3000 miles done for 2017 but was about 95 miles short of the 6000. Since Saturday we have had 50 degree days so was able to get 21 in Saturday and 29 Monday. Only today and tomorrow left before the weather in Des Moines Iowa will be back to more normal temps 20-30's for highs. Might even get below zero before end of the year. So the plan is to try to get about 30 today and the rest tomorrow.
Mondays ride was a bit challenging. Wind out of the Southwest. So the ride north to where I can pick up the bike trail was okay. West was the most challenging but even with that I was able to do an extra loop around the park. And had almost 10 miles in before I started on the Great western trail which is mostly South and west. Made it down to where I had planned to turn around and decided to go to the next road crossing before turning around even though I was going at a pretty slow pace 9-10 mph. Once I turned around it is mostly downhill and with a tail wind (Yeah). So made decent time coming back. While it was 50 degrees with the wind it felt colder than that especially as the sun starting going down. Did a little extra loop around the parking to get to 29 miles and called it a day. Was cold. Note to self wear warmer socks today.14 -
I found an OLD gorgeous "swing" coat from the 1980's (remember those big coats with the padded shoulders that was all the rage in the 80's?), well this coat was a super expensive designer coat I saved my pennies for way back when and got it on sale. I kept it in hopes that I could either wear it again one day or pass it to my daughters (they didn't want it ). When I purchased this coat, I was a skinny as a rail (maybe 110lbs soaking wet), it is a size 6, this is BEFORE vanity sizing. Well, I tried it on this morning and it FIT!!!! Now I'm nowhere near a size 6 YET, I'm about a size 14w now and this fit because it the style was big--but it looks good on me, I asked my children how it looks and if I should keep it and they said YES!
I'll be rocking a size 6 label old sharp coat this winter and it's THRILLING to think about. Of course, I'm going to have the shoulder pads removed--a SIZE SIX (that I used to wear) WOW and super YAY!
Here's an example of what the style coat looked like in the 1980's (mine is dark blue and just plain tremendous) and it looks GREAT on me!

Well done! This is my goal, too. I have all these same problems. Totally inspired.5 -
That grader tyre I had my goal set to solo flip by the end of April? Yeah, I nailed that sucker at bootcamp yesterday! Like 4 or 5 times. It wasn't pretty by any means and I have a lot of work before it is. My next goal is to flip it with some more finesse and fluidity.
c25k, w3d2 this morning. Oh man I felt it. But I didn't give up. I was begging for that gong to slow back to a walk after each interval and I didn't manage to stay above my goal of 8.4km/h BUT I didn't quit. Any time I noticed I was under that 8.4 I just pushed myself a little harder and got back up to 9Km/h.
I've got mixed emotions about next week's program. Worried about the 5 minute jog after only 90 seconds to catch my breath back but excited to be pushing myself further each week.13 -
Took my first HIIT BootCamp class today. Got myself there. Didn't puke. Didn't quit. Didn't die.
Counting that as a string of NSV's. ;-)21 -
This week is "Stuff Your Face" week at the school I work at! Stressful time of year for the teachers--they have to practically peel the kids off the ceiling this week--so they compensate with lots and lots of treats in the teacher's lounge. It just happens to be right next door to my office (I'm the school nurse). My NSV is that I'm still bringing in my breakfast and lunch this week and NOT going over there to check out what's available!19

Man, that's TOUGH!5 -
Gave my suit to a men's shelter this weekend.
Four months ago I was too big to fit in the suit. Thought I would wait till I lost a few inches and then wear it. Last week I wore it to work (folks thought I had an interview at lunch) and realized that I had missed the window, the suit was way too baggy. I'm hoping that some gentleman out there is able to have a great job interview wearing it.43 -

Amazing and great on keeping it going!!3 -
It's the night before my last Semester 1 exam of final year that I am woefully unprepared for. I couldnt justify the time to cook what i had originally planned and stayed in so late studying I was hangry. Let myself get a pizza meal from dominos with cookies, didn't even finish the pizza and stayed under my maintenance allowance. Not a good diet day but it could've gone a whole lot worse and I'm proud of how I was able to control myself and only get a portion for 1 person (rather than getting a large deal and 'saving half for later' like i used to).17

Today I decided that I'm going to stop trying to be Superman at the gym. A couple of weeks ago, I had finished a one hour Stairmaster workout (burning 700+ calories) one day when one of the older regulars told me plainly "you overdid it." Today I saw him for the first time since then, and told him that I had cut it back to 30 minutes. He told me he had thought they were going to have call the ambulance that day. I'm not really a type A personality, but I am a high achiever, and so it's been a little hard to dial it back, but I know it's the right thing to do. As I was doing my 30 minute stair workout today, somewhere in there I thought to myself, "I don't care about the numbers anymore." I decided that from now on my goal will simply be to work to the best of my ability. That includes my strength training as well. I decided to start where I am (and I'm strong in some areas and weak in others) and build from there - one small step and one workout at a time.34

I'm not sure whether this is an NSV or just weird: After my rowing machine workout today, I was craving a sweet treat. Some cold roasted parsnips (100g ) really hit the spot!20

Lost 4.5 inches since Sept! Glad I was keeping track! Hoping to see a bunch of inches drop between the weights and run training!!16

I started a new job about a month ago, so the people I work with do not know that I used to be heavier than I am now. Anyways, my NSV is that the president of my company picked out a shirt for all the ladies in the office as a Christmas gift, and she picked mine out in a size small. It’s hard for me to even see myself as a size small, but to know that other people observed me as being a small is something I’d never thought possible since I just automatically assume people would think of me as a large. my brain hasn’t quite caught onto the fact that I got smaller.31

I block pulled 385 lbs...TWICE!!! If I can deadlift this from the ground at my next meet, I'll break state record.

I have two jobs and I've worked at the part-time job for @ 5 1/2 years. One of my co-workers got me a black cardigan for Christmas (side note: I was planning on getting one after Christmas, so this was awesome!). Anyway, I pulled it on without looking at the size and it fit great, Later, I took it off and looked at the size. It's a MEDIUM. I know it's probably just vanity sizing but holy cow! that feels amazing.25

Tuesday was able to get away from work early enough to get on the bike by 2:30. The original plan was to get 30 miles in and the rest Wednesday but then decided to see if I could get all 45 miles done. I do admit to picking an easy route. Rode from home three miles to the bike trail the rode out toward the soccer park and back to downtown and then up toward the Neal Smith trail which goes from Des Moines to Saylorville lake. The bridge at NW 66th street has been under construction for about 2 years and so was glad to see the bike path underpass is finally open and so don't need to use the detour anymore. Did a few extra loops around the picnic areas and stopped by the river to catch a breath and watched the seagulls and Pelicans while I ate my banana. Then went on up to just below the dam and started back. Was just after 5 pm so was getting dark so needed to turn on my headlamp. Was a little daunting riding back through the words but was better once I got closer to town. Did a couple extra loops by the ball park and then on to waterworks park to meet my husband. Just had to do one loop through the park to get to 45 miles and then on to the trailhead. Did a couple of loops through the parking lot to get to an even 46 miles. So long story but met my goal to get to 6000 miles.9 -
Just had a coworker ask me if I lost weight. Felt good as I haven’t told anyone I was trying. Only 15lbs down but it’s a start.18

Awesome! You made "deadlift face". It's a running joke with my lifting partners and myself. Well done!

We have 2 "big boy" 50lb plates that have a substantially larger circumference than the 25lb plates. I used to squat and deadlift with them but after taking so much time off, my husband is the only one who has been using them. About 2 months ago, I attempted deadlifting with them when my husband had the bar loaded and I barely hit one. Had to be my 1rm. I can now deadlift them for 8 reps so I can use them for my power and hypertrophy days and it's SO much nicer to have the bar higher off the ground. I have been loving it!!12
