I bought size 18 today at the consignment shop. Waved goodbye to some 5x and size 34s; someone else can benefit from them. My closet looks empty but everything in my interim wardrobe fits. MFP peeps, thank you for sharing. I read almost every day.24

Tomorrow is not promised to us, a LOT of people woke up dead this morning (i.e. didn't wake up), but not me--I've been "given" another day on this earth and I'll be purposely choosing to make the very best of every moment in it. TODAY is a brand new day...I have the HUGE honor and power to choose TODAY what path I'll walk in--no matter what's going on in my life, be it filled with lollipops (low cal?), sunshine and roses or confusion, darkness and yuck, I still have the CHOICE to make it either a bitter or better day, by HOW I choose to walk/think. That is such a wonderful gift--the gift of NOW and what I choose to do with it. I LOVE that. Makes me think of this old saying:
"“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, which is why we call it the present.” “The clock is running. Make the most of today."
So what's my NSV? That I have the magnanimous and powerful gift of choice and today I will walk in truth and love, with every single thought I think, every word, every action and deed and with everyone I come in contact with, every option of food, drink and exercise I do, everywhere I go, because I can--I love that! What if I don't make it or stumble today in my goal today of walking in this tremendous and strange way? Well, I'll Pick myself up, dust myself off and start all over again, with JOY, humor and humility. So encouraging this way of thinking and living is, and thus my NSV I'll be "exercising" today--YAY!10 -

I have been using MFP for almost a year now (Jan. 15/17) and, while I have lost around 48 lbs, the weight loss stalls regularly - the trend is almost like stair steps. Only 3 lbs away from my goal weight but that goal seems so far away at times.
The NSV is that today I took my measurements, as I have done from time to time, but for the first time I looked at the change in those measurements from the first time I took them on March 3:
Bust: -6"
Waist: -8"
Hips: -5"
That was so re-motivating for me.

I can grab a handful of winter raincoat at my waist while wearing it buttoned over my sweater.
When I first wore it this season, several months back, I could feel it "hugging" me when buttoned up ........
Hubs said, I didn't really notice, knew you'd gained a little weight, but now that you've lost some it's "dramatic" - his word13 -
I got a new sweater and almost picked up a 2XL but got an XL and it fits, its even a bit loose around the middle.17

Picked up one of my daughters from the airport whom I've not seen in a year. When I hopped out of the truck to throw her luggage in she was just staring at me and said "mom ........where did you go and why does your butt look like J-Lo?" LOLOLOL. I just loved it.36

Just had my annual physical. Labs all good and better than before. No longer borderline diabetic. Doc wanted to know how I lost weight. He was impressed. We talked a lot about health etc. I left there feeling so good and proud. Feeling motivated to keep at it and do even better!23

Lots of people older than I am (62) machine row more than I do, but I'm pretty happy about this weight-loss NSV.
I've rowed (boats and machines) for 15 years, and used to do the Holiday Challenge regularly. When my Evil Knee (torn meniscus) started routinely causing trouble, the Challenge became too much daily volume with too few rest days for me. A few years back, I stopped.
This year, knee feeling so much better due to weight loss, I decided to start in on Thanksgiving and just see how it went. For context, for me it's 40 minutes or so of fairly-intense rowing on 5-6 days a week, from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Eve. I even finished the 200km (124 mi) a little early, on 12/21.

I've lost about 30 pounds. A relative noticed and asked how I did it. I told her about MFP. She told me that calorie counting won't work for the long term and I am sure to gain it back. Here's the NSV: I just shrugged my shoulders, said "I guess we'll see" and didn't say anything snarky. Screw you, Auntie!35

- Took about 6 months off MFP and just caught up with reading through this thread. Yall are amazing, thank you for sharing your NSVs!
- I didn't make any of my fitness goals that I started out with for 2017, but I did have 2 surgeries and completed a sprint triathlon with a faster time than the year before.
- I've spent most of the year pushing myself on what I can get away with instead of pushing myself on moving forward. I'm totally ready (and a little scared) to shift gears. Heeeeere we go!17 -
I went out for dinner last night with family and had the same dish I had about 6 months ago before I started trying to lose weight. I still had room for dessert last time, this time I couldn't finish the main. I also had a cupcake earlier in the week and was shocked at how sickly sweet it tasted, made me realise how much less sugar I have been eating lately.21

Could easily do the baby cricket and hold it. Last time I tried was over a year ago and it was really difficult to hold it for 15 seconds. I haven't been practicing but over the last year I got a PT for weight lifting/cross fit work outs. Today in the gym after stretching decided on a whim to give it a go. Knew I had gained muscles all over but such a great feeling to smash a pose that I have found hard work in the past.11

This happened a while ago, but at my old place of work, we were moving some stuff around in the back to make more room, and there was a weighted hex bar belonging to a coworker there. I didn't know what it was at the time and went to pick it up with one hand to move it. It was surprisingly heavy, but I was able to lift and move it still with one hand.
Found out later that the thing weighed 80 lbs!22 -
I've taken a break from tracking food during holiday travel, and I can feel that I've added some weight over the last 2 weeks.
BUT--I just ran my fastest 10K ever! It's my Christmas present to myself.27 -

I have a couple. Last Saturday I went to a Christmas concert with my family - I had a new outfit and really dressed up for once, something I rarely do. Stuck my head in to the ladies' when we arrived to see if my makeup had survived the trip (I'm not used to wearing much makeup) and the performers were in there getting ready. One of them waved her hands at me and said "Well you don't need to check yourself, you look beautiful!" Then I ran into a friend and she said I looked beautiful. Then a total stranger complimented my outfit. Later we went out to eat and our waitress said I had beautiful eyes. That's four random compliments in one evening! I did feel really good and obviously it showed in my face and attitude.
Last night we finally finished the last of our Christmas and grocery shopping. Last year I was in the hospital right before Christmas having surgery, and wasn't able to drive, so I didn't do any shopping except online, and not much of that. But I remember Christmas shopping the year before. It was freezing temps and I was wearing a coat, and I would get overheated walking around stores. I complained to my husband that all the stores kept the heat up too high, and my husband, who is usually the most patient and supportive person, came as close as he has ever come to criticizing me about my weight: "It's not hot in here, it's you being so out of shape!" He was right, I was panting and red faced and kept having to sit down from just walking around a little bit. We had to cut our shopping short before we were finished because I got tired. This year I felt like a completely different person - I didn't even notice how much walking we were doing until I thought about what it used to be like. Everything that used to be hard was now easy.38 -
Merry Christmas to all! I've been hovering around 14 lbs down for a little while and asked my husband if he thought that I was still making progress even though the scale doesn't really show it. He said that yes, he meant to tell me earlier that my face was looking razor sharp!15

Went out for a christmas BBQ today (weird but yum lol)
Ate WAY to much. And honestly i fully intend to keep eating way to much even though...
I realized I dont feel good eating alot. I dont enjoy losing the control. Id really like to be able to be around buffet style (especially sweets) and not go wild losing control. I have realized this before. BUT. My NSV is that i now for the first time feel like i CAN manage. I have a really good year planned. I have the tools needed to accomplish goals. The year is planned to revolve around mental/physical health goals. The realization that i dont enjoy overeating feels different this time around. Instead of just *kitten* my calories are screwed its actually wow i actually am not enjoying this even being okay with over eating it doesnt feel good. I will enjoy it while it lasts but even as its happening im like- When can i end and begin my amazing year!
I cant wait to practice my self love health habits IT will be nice to focus on making ME happy vs just losing weight16 -

Heard that. Been eating and enjoying all the Christmas food. A little of this - a little of that - haven't gone wild on anything. Also haven't logged most of it because that would be a WAG, anyway.
Still, I was thinking ahead - "On Tuesday, you can get back to logging everything and stop all this nibbling." HAHA!

Yesterday I completed 10 weeks without eating processed sugar and feel so much better for it. I feel less bloated, my stomach feels like it goes in rather than out and my weight in down by 24 lbs. It's a great way to start Christmas.20

Christmas Eve yesterday and I had to run a couple errands before getting ready to host 30 people at my house... in years past I would have been sipping wine and lounging about... instead in between errands I went to the gym. When I came home all sweaty my kids were laughing at me..... “ times.. they are achangin” lol24

I am recovering much faster and better than expected from a recent surgery. My surgeon and trainer both said that it was because I am so used to working out---my body is used to healing itself.31

Losing this much boob may not sound like a NSV to most, but I've always hated my large breasts and the attention they brought. I'm simply over the moon to be approaching "sporty boobs" territory.
* And yes, I know cupsize is a determined by band to bust ratio.20
