To any of the ladies that have lost weight on here and made it seem like you haven't lost much yet, you all are amazing and so inspirational to me! It is making me realize in the past when I've lost 15 or 30 pounds, that it doesn't matter how much as long as it is dropping. I am going to be proud of the 13 pounds I'm down!12

Started at 301 pounds on January 19th, 2017. I am now in the 190s. I don't know my exact weight, haven't stepped on the scale in a while. So about 11 months? I workout (walking, dancing) and just count my calories
What was your calorie allowance when you first started...Great job!!!
1500 love
Was 1500 including exercise? Or if you exercise, do you eat those calories back?1 -

Can I ask those who are near goal weight, how did you combat extra skin? I'm 93lbs into my journey and have 50 more to go. I'm already noticing lose skin. I started at 363lbs and am currently 270. My first major goal is 220. However, I'm concerned I'm going to look just as bad when I reach goal as I did my highest weight. So I'm curious, did you combat extra skin, do you still have some? How does it look and how do you feel? I realize I'm being personal here.6

First way to go on losing 93lbs! That's great, second there isn't really a way to prevent loose skin. The best you can do now is continue losing the weight now while you are at the age you are now. The longer you wait, the less elasticity your skin has. Next, once you lose the fat, your skin will continue to slowly tighten back up for a couple of years, it may never get to as tight as you'd like, but it will tighten some. In the long run, a lot of people, myself included, look at the pros and cons. I'd personally rather lose the weight and all of the problems that come with it (higher risk of diabetes, hypertension, cancer, stroke, joint pain...) and have loose skin, than keep the weight and end up with any of the other problems.
If in a few years, the loose skin is really a problem for you and you are unhappy with it, then you can always choose to have skin removal surgery. If you think that is something you may want, start a savings account and put money towards it each week, in a year or more, you will either have a good amount of money to go towards surgery, or you'll have money to go on vacation or buy something nice for yourself.
I've been obese my entire life, and everytim e I thought about losing weight I'd get nervous about the skin and end up talking myself out of losing weight. It took a complete change in attitude and way of looking at things for me to get serious and work towards losing weight. My highest was 307 and today I'm 230 even with a lot further to go to get where I want to be. Good luck!19 -

This is such an inspirational post. Thanks to all the beautiful women who posted their pictures.
I am at the beginning of my journey. Starting weight was 287, and now I am 275.
Still some work and it doesn't really show yet on my body. But I already feel the difference!

Yes, and no I never ate back exercise calories! I intermittent fast so I was always too full at the end of my eating window to eat more anyways! But that's personally just me, some people love to eat their exercise calories and still lose weight effectively.6 -

Well I think my age helped me a bit(I'm 21) so my loose skin isn't a major deal. I would say I do have flabby arms, but at the same time I wouldn't trade them for the world. I am happier than I ever been. I'll take loose skin over obesity any day. As you go along, you will learn to accept your body, never let loose skin make you regret the awesome journey you went through. Losing over 100 pounds is not an easy feat! And not many people can say they've acomplished that. Congratulations on your 93 pounds and cheer to more!16 -

Well done for starting on your journey kkmbear and good work taking a good 'before picture - I won't offer luck as that is not what you need - determination is what is required. Following mfp is not difficult but sticking to making healthy choices sometimes is. If you make a bad choice and feel like you've 'failed' one day don't sweat it, just carry on making as many good choices as you can. My journey in 2014 was very effective and I lost almost all of my excess weight. I let travelling and other stuff prevent me being more conscious of what I was eating and regained 20lbs - now back on it and hoping to get back to a sensible weight and learn to maintain effectively. Looking forward to hearing about your successes9

5'8" 302 lbs down to 165 lbs
I lost the first 50 with reduced carb and no calorie counting or exercise for 9 months. Then hit a wall.
Joined MFP (CICO only) and the gym and lost final 85 in 8 months.

But you ARE a success story. You've started something amazing and losing 100 lbs is a huge accomplishment. You should be extremely proud of yourself and I wish you nothing but the best on your continued success.13 -
