Success/struggles of the week: The ridiculously cold weather demotivates me so much. I changed strength training programs, too, so water weight on top of less cardio this week (due to the aforementioned weather) .. and no surprise that my average weight jumped 1.5 lbs this week.
I really wanted to go into my vacation a little under my weight range so I could feel more confident in eating whatever I feel like eating during the trip. Ah well... guess I’ll just have to accept that I will need to buckle down a bit after I return from vacation as I am totally going to break past 125lbs.
Success is that I am glad I figured out how to make Maintenance sustainable - vacations, birthdays, holidays... they are all meant to be enjoyed. I am going to go on this vacation stress free about food - I can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about with eating in the Big Easy!

Success/struggles of the week/month: Continuing to increase calories and still pretty amazed that my trend is down. I upped them from 1850 last week to 2000 this week and honestly it feels almost like I am binging, LOL. But then I wake up and work out and weigh and think, gosh, maybe my TDEE really is this high. Month 4 of maintenance and this is a new milestone for me. Esp with the injury last month. It seems to me that my body has not yet really realized that I am no longer in loss mode. I plan to continue at 2K intake another week and see if it starts to float back up or level off. For me post menapausal I think it takes only about 2 weeks at a calorie input level to see what the trend is. The only discovery the past few weeks which is sad is that with the increased calories my night sweats come back. When I was in deficit, they disappeared. I am trying to eat more throughout the day so there is not a large input in the evenings. Based on my yo yo history I have traditionally eaten light until dinner and then pigged out so learning to eat more at Breakfast and Lunch and trust I will eat reasonably at night is a big step. One thing that keeps me from "cheating" and eating less is the TDEE spreadsheet I am keeping and have since the beginning. Being a data freak, if I don't actually EAT at the level I plan, the data will be trashed. <G>7 -

Success/struggles of the week: I’ve had a cold since NYE so have not been working out at all. Plus Weighed myself this morning after going out last night for my birthday meal, which was amazing but big (with all the tasty gluten and sugar and alcohol etc that I’m not supposed to have). So today I am feeling terribly gross and the scale definitely reflects it. I’m still in my weight range and it’s nice to properly celebrate for my birthday, but I am so ready to get back on track after holidays, illness and my bday!!9 -

Success/struggles of the week:
Oh my word!!! I've eat like there was no tomorrow for the first 4 days. Most of them were not the best of choices and I didn't feel satisfied or even enjoyed what I was consuming- what a fail!..... I started getting stomach cramps. So, for the last 3 days I decided to do better for my body nutritionally..... Also, rather than looking at my daily calories eaten I took into account my weekly calorie allowance. This was my attempt in recovering from the damage. And I do think it worked. I calculated the 4 days worth of calories consumed and subtracted it from the usual 7 days that I should/would have eaten and divided that by 3. And so the last 3 days I've been eating a lower number of calories per day. That wasn't at all bad because the deficit wasn't as difficult as I'd thought it'd be. Proud of myself for not panicking.
I'm still on track with my 10k steps per day goal. My current record is: 4 weeks and 4 days. Unfortunately, I've still not started any body strength workouts. I NEED to do something about this asap. Maybe this week?!

Ladies (and gents), I love reading through this thread. Everyone is doing so well. No reason to panic or get crazy. Balance is the key. Lose a pound this week, gain 1/2 next. Do you feel good? Do your clothes still fit? Eat a little less or more depending on the scale. We have all lost what we need to lose, and know what we need to do to keep it that way. Go, fight, win!11

Successes/struggles: Been struggling with a bad cold since Thursday. I managed to walk several miles everyday on my treadmill desk, but skipped the gym a few days. I did get back to the gym this morning and back to my routine. I was considering changing my weigh in day to Tuesday since Monday is always high after higher sodium food choices during the weekend, but figured it was better to see that higher number on Monday to keep me committed through the week .
Goals this week: Stay within goal most days, fruit instead of chocolate when I need something sweet (darn employees gave me a bag of French chocolate for Christmas and it is sure tasty.) Would like to be at the bottom of maintenance by the time I leave for Costa Rica on 1/30/18. Three month goal is to try and move my maintenance weight range down about 3 lbs to 122-127. I really like how I look at 125 lbs.

Good News: My weight seems pretty stable. Even though I saw a dip into the 130's Saturday this week, it looks like it's pretty much stabling out and staying in the low 140's. I changed my weight range, again, to something lower. But honestly I weigh something with a 14X I'm a happy camper. I haven't been logging food. I see that when I do, I try to keep the calories too low and nit pick over what I eat. So I'm just going by scale weight and averages for awhile. Libra DID go from a downward trend to an upward trend for a very short time, but then went back down.
Bad News: Our weather just went from holy crap cold, to freezing rain, snow and slush. I'm not made for winter and will probably be a grouch for the next 3 months. I finally got my BF to agree to plan and trip to Atlanta in April to visit his siblings, so I have something to look forward to. Which typically keeps my motivation to keep my weight, eating and moving under control. And makes me less miserable during the outside conditions as of late.

Success / struggles of the week : I've got interesting data from my new fitbit. Apparently, i average 12000-14000 steps on weekdays, a little less on weekends. So that's good, i mean, i knew i walk a lot during the day every day, wasn't sure how much. What definitely needs improvement, is my sleep. I can do better than 6 hours a night, and that should be my focus for near future.8 -

Success/struggles of the week: Still trending down a little. If I was trying to lose weight I would be super frustrated at how slow it is going, but since I am trying to maintain I am super frustrated that I seem to keep creeping down. I've been using both my fitbit one and my new garmin fr35 to compare the two. Last week fitbit gave me 50 more steps per day average and garmin gave me 27 more calories burned per day average. So they are pretty close. I will probably compare them for a week or two longer just because I'm kind of a nerd that way. lol. It is a little frustrating because using my own data I think that fitbit underestimates my calories burned and I was hoping that garmin would be more accurate, but they seem to be about the same. I guess my goal for this week will be to eat a little more and get back into my maintenance range. In the past I have lowered the range, but I really think that 120-125 is low enough.6 -

Successes/struggles of the week: I too am struggling with an actual cold and extreme cold weather! And the lure of overeating! And boohoo, my Fitbit disappeared, and although a dear friend sent me one she no longer used as a replacement (from the other side of the world), it was damaged in the mail and I couldn't use it. And while my weight misleadingly seemed to stay the same for awhile, the scale shot up to 154.6 one day!
However, I figure that people like ourselves who have lost weight following the "calorie deficit" theory, have lost our weight loss "virginity" and will always resist drifting back to a state of complete oblivion and continued weight gain...
Anyhoo...I have been a model citizen since Wednesday. I have been maintaining a respectable deficit, and don't plan to ease up until I'm back in the 140s, well back! And my new Fitbit Charge 2 is due to arrive tomorrow!

Trying to counter by being very strict with my eight hour eating window and doing an FMD Sunday to Thursday to see if I can ‘reset’ my taste buds and hunger and grazing habits. (Other reasons also) So I might lose some weight this week, but I have the room to do so without concern.5 -
@kgirlhart I feel your pain, lol. I was wondering how you liked the Garmin. Now we know. In my nonprofessional opinion, you are doing very well. You have not dropped below normal weight, you can pretty much eat what you want and the weather is perfect for running! (Can you tell I am a bit jealous regarding the running?) I haven't run since 12/201

Thanks @mk2fit I love the garmin for running. The fitbit one was really good just tracking steps, but it is so nice to be able to see pace, etc while running without having to dig out my phone. I've missed a few running days since Christmas, but today should be perfect running weather. I will take advantage of it while I can.2

I, too, have had a resurgence of snacking / grazing over the holiday season. I am trying to get myself out of the habit, but it is hard! At least the tempting foods are just about gone or have been removed from the house. Still, I find myself gravitating toward my husband's snack foods -- foods I don't even really like! Weird!2 -

Success/struggles of the week: Struggle last week were the late night munchies. I was on a two week vacation and staying up almost until 2 am last week. Day 3 into the munchies I was like what is going on and figured out it was problem because I was staying up so late. Back to work this week and getting back to bed a much more decent hour. Munchies have been curbed! I've successfully completed a yoga practice daily for the last week plus done some loving some HIIT.8 -
Heck yeah chocolate daily is like a MUST! I've enjoyed it too all the while dropping 82 or so pounds. If I deprived myself more than likely I'd fine myself eating a whole bag of mini reese's cups with a few cups of milk LOL. I enjoy a piece of almond bark after lunch and I add some chopped almond bark to my yogurt daily. Chocolate just makes it special.3 -

Hi @HarperAnn6 - having now reached the top of my range 3x in the last 6 months, my recommendation is to make small changes - cut 100-200 calories a day or exercise 2x more a week. I find that it’s mentally less taxing that way.
In contrast, the first couple times I hit my top range, I took drastic action, cutting 500-700 calories a day to lose weight faster because I panicked. I just felt miserable, like I failed.
The slower approach doesn’t feel as much like punishment and I honestly barely notice a difference between losing and Maintenance that way. It’s a marathon, not a sprint - even in Maintenance.

I'm back from a trip with a little water retention. It's started to drop already. We had a fun time! One of the things I enjoy about these trips is being able to fit into airplane seats, arena seats, climb the steps in arenas, and walk to and from the hotel with no difficulty. I used to lag way behind my group when walking, now I have force myself to slow down or I'd be 2 blocks ahead of the same friends.
The last couple of weeks several of my real life friends have said they are trying to walk more so their steps keep up with mine! I never thought I would be the one inspiring others to get fit and move more, lol.
I do need to go back to a slight deficit for a couple weeks regardless to get back to mid-range. Things have crept up the last 2 months from what I thought was water weight etc at the time but it's gotten higher than I'm comfortable with. Now is the time to reign it in!
Still trying to figure out my fitness goals for the year. On my lifting days I think I want to lift more and on my swimming days I think I want to swim more. I do both already, but can't do "more" of both. So hard to decide!

I also like that I can fit in airplane seats and climb stairs without being out of breath. I used to have to sit everywhere while others were having fun cause of my weight no more I’m out there enjoying it all. I might even try zip lining3 -
I am probably an anomaly, losing weight on a road trip. Not to worry dear friends, I gained back the weight I lost.
Weighed in at 115# last week and 116# this week. These are both within range. I went out for a big, juicy cheeseburger and fries, then salad for dinner. Just waiting for the darn snow to melt so I can get back out and run. I really do not love the elliptical8 -

Great advice. It's more or less what I do too. Also, I think having this app and using it actively helps me too. I can always go back to my food diary and look at what I've been eating in the past for inspiration. Or if I've stopped logging, revert back to logging and weighing my food.4 -

Hi @HarperAnn6 - having now reached the top of my range 3x in the last 6 months, my recommendation is to make small changes - cut 100-200 calories a day or exercise 2x more a week. I find that it’s mentally less taxing that way.
In contrast, the first couple times I hit my top range, I took drastic action, cutting 500-700 calories a day to lose weight faster because I panicked. I just felt miserable, like I failed.
The slower approach doesn’t feel as much like punishment and I honestly barely notice a difference between losing and Maintenance that way. It’s a marathon, not a sprint - even in Maintenance.

Thank you very much for your advice, Sofchak! I really appreciate it as I am still finding maintenance quite difficult. As you noted, it is counterproductive to panic. It definitely makes a lot more sense to make smaller changes. Now that the weather is a bit warmer here, I should be able to get out and exercise. Also, the holidays are over, which should help me curtail my eating a bit.3 -

Great advice. It's more or less what I do too. Also, I think having this app and using it actively helps me too. I can always go back to my food diary and look at what I've been eating in the past for inspiration. Or if I've stopped logging, revert back to logging and weighing my food.
Great idea to go back to these basics, Fidangul! Thank you for your response. MFP helps keep me accountable, but I have been a little sloppy with logging and measuring lately. I have to make these practices more of a priority.4
