I changed by diet to whole food plant based about 6 months ago & these are some things I didn't expect or have pleasantly discovered.
* I jump out of bed in the mornings with bounds of energy
* I enjoy discovering & eating new vegetables
* My digestive system has never been so great
* I lost weight without even trying
* My cravings for unhealthy food have almost completely gone away
* I never knew how great you can actually feel
* Am I going to do this for the rest of my life??? YES!, it's totally worth it!13 -

JGM10D | 2018 Edition | Round 4
(Round 31)
Long-term Focus: In the normal range for my age height and build, on maintenance.
I HAVE the power and determination to do this.
Primary Goal - 160lbs +/- 2lbs. Lose 1lb per round. [/color]
to Round 31
This has given me a motivational element of daily accountability.
Observations, and Previous RoundsIt takes many years to put on excess weight, so It follows that it takes much time to remove, but it does come off, bit by stubborn bit! If you stick with it! The game continues!
Body weight fluctuates, both up, and down, from one day to the next depending many factors.- Changes often take several days to show on the scale.
- A drop is often followed by a bounce up before it settles back down. A general downward trend is the aim.
- A high sodium day usually results in a gain due to water retention, unless you drink extra fluids to flush it out.
If you are making positive lifestyle changes it will lead to increased health and fitness.
Slow and steady leads to sustainable weight loss.
But remember to live a little along the way!

Day/Weight/Comment
02/07: 119.7kg/263.9lbs - The scales were laughing at me this morning, they showed: 118.5, 118.0, 117.7 before finally 119.7kg - I chose to take the last reading as I would hate to think I'm lower than I actually am. I expected to bubble up slightly so I'm quite happy. Good start to the round so far! Onwards and DOWNWARDS.
02/08: 119.8kg/264.1lbs - Scales gave me 4 different numbers... This is beginning to get a little frustrating. Probably going to have to invest in a new set of scales! The numbers it did give me were great, don't get me wrong. I just like numbers and would like them to be as accurate as possible!
02/09: 118.5kg/261.2lbs - Scales were finally consistent!! WOOOOO. Off to my better half's parents this weekend for a birthday, I'm excited though as I know I can 100% restrain myself from too much cake etc. Managed to fit in a retro jumper this morning (haven't worn for 6 months) which is a size large, I used to be XXL - huge NSV! I'd like to get to 180 this round.
02/07 183.6 I expected this, as I got a RED sodium warning when logging my food yesterday. I made some bad food choices for lunch and skipped dinner. I have to really work on eating out less. I take lunch to work and end up eating out anyway! Smh
02/08 182.6 Did cardio and weight training. Ate IN and stayed within my calories. Macros were pretty good also.
02/09 182.6 Feeling good. Still motivated to make good choices.

Been experimenting making my own protein bars. They taste great and are high protein, low carb and costs less than my favorite Quest bars.
02/08...143.4 50 min on ellip which is probably why I'm the same even after 2 small egg rolls. Today, protein bars, salad and eggs ...no wine.. I'd Like to see a drop.
02/09..144.2 Why the increase? Don't know. Made some cheesy cauliflower breadsticks; perhaps the salt in the parmesan? Ate clean except for 2 small cookies. No wine. I guess it's just fluctuation.

I believe in my ability to lose weight and to keep it off.7 -
Another 10 days!! I started doing this challenge in Round 2...so this is my round 30...that will make 300 days of daily weighing and checking in by the end of this round (except for two trips I took where I didn't have access to a scale). For all the newbies...the fluctuations take some getting used to, but weighing daily starts to make you really aware about what affects your scale weight besides true gains/losses. Weighing weekly or less sometimes means you will miss your highs and lows and you also miss out on important trends.

02/06 - 144.8 - coming in from round 30...with a rolling 7 day average of 144.5
02/07 - 145.6 - finishing up TOM and haven't been great about keeping away from the carbs lately. I could totally just blame it on TOM but really I need to grab my water bottle and a piece of gum instead of shoving chocolate and bread in my pie hole....
02/08 - 146.6 - ARgh...no one to blame but me again. Did some baking to freeze for the kids lunches and did far too much sampling. Went to bed with crazy heartburn, haven't experienced that in ages so I learned my lesson.

02/07 - 232.8 - I was bloated the day before. It was a huge relief to see a drop after several days of gaining. It's good to know that I was losing weight even though I wasn't feeling good. I will be traveling the next couple weeks so my weights might get really interesting. Hopefully I continue to lose weight while living in a hotel without a kitchen.

Round 30 start weight - 137.90
Round 31 start weight - 137.90
Loss to date - 13.5lbs
Avg loss per round - 1.5lbs
Goal for this round - minimum to lose the extra 0.50lb so my total loss since starting this will be a stone (only makes sense to those in the UK!) - ideally 137lb.
02/07 137.60lb - I think this is my lowest ever weight since I got married 17 years and three kids ago - the first of which was a honeymoon baby! So very happy with this for day 1 of this round. Lurgy just about gone now and felt like a really good PT session last night. No reason for it not to be a good day today too
02/08 136.70lb - 0.90lb down today - so goal reset for this round to 136lb. Never cease to be amazed how weight can vary from day to day. And I seem to have a really good round then it stabilises for a bit then I'm off again - But its all in the down direction at the minute. Weighing in daily has been a real eye opener for me
02/09 137.20lb - slightly up but was on target yesterday food and water wise and did a tough hours PT last night. So can only assume it was my carb heavier dinner (home made burgers and jacket wedges - yum!). Not upset - just a daily blip which seems to happen with me regularly but still down over a stone since November

Day/Weight/Comment
02/07- 133.6- finally bouncing back from Superbowl weekend
02/08- 134.0- regretting those girl scout cookies I had yesterday, but I'm entering water-retaining-time-of-the-month, so not an unexpected gain. Planning to have pizza tonight, but going for a run at lunch, so I will still stay within my calorie goal
02/09- 134.4- I'm starting to think I underestimated my lunch calories for the week. I've been eating leftover veggie lasagna made by someone else, so I have a feeling it has more calories than I'd like to think.
