I’m 20 years old And I’m 5’2 and weighed 162 pounds on February 14th. Today February 26 I weigh 152 pounds! 12 days and I’ve lost 10 pounds.I have been eating only veggies and fruits and nuts. Nothing else! And to drink only water and detox tea. Working out only like 2 days a week for an 1 or 2 hrs. The heaviest I’ve been was 175 when I was pregnant almost 2 years ago and ever since it’s been impossible to lose weight. I know it might be an extreme diet for some but I just wanted to show that it’s helping me and I’m so happy!

And how do you feel? That is not a healthy way to lose weight. I hope no one wants to do what have done.10

Conventional wisdom states it is not healthy to lose weight so fast, and one should make sure to get sufficient protein and fat, but hey.5

I actually feel great. I’ve been eating a lot of fruits and vegetables. I’m not starving myself. My skin feel clear I have energy everything feels brighter. I’ll eat bananas kiwi tangerines apples mangos strawberries. And I’ll have a bunch of salad. Carrots, peppers, cucumbers tomatoes, avocados, spinach and kale! Etc. I actually feel really great5

Protein and fats are important too.6
-
I get healthy fats from avocado and there is protein in veggies like spinach and broccoli11
-
You likely aren't getting enough protein to sustain muscle maintenance especially paired with an agressive deficit.. but hey if body composition isn't important to you, sure have at it.12
-
So carbs and the tiniest amount of fat from an avocado. You gonna lose muscle girl. It won't look nice.14

Detox teas generally contain laxatives and diuretics. Be especially careful with those containing senna as they shouldn't be used more than 7 days and can have a lot of negative side effects long-term.
How long do you intend to stick with this diet? I doubt you'll do too much harm in two weeks, but if you intend to continue on it you should check out some vegan tips because you will miss out on important nutrients eating the way you've described. I don't see any mention of foods high in B12, for instance. And doesn't it take something like 20 servings of broccoli to hit your RDA for protein? Beans and lentils might make that easier. Along with something like olive or coconut oils for fats. It just doesn't sound like a long-term, balanced plan as you've presented it so far.6 -
Well I usually have a huge bowl of of broccoli. And I do have peanut butter and granola and pistachios during the day.3

You guys are making it sound like I’m going to die4

None of those things are protein rich.2 -

You won't. But you'll burn out. And definitely lose muscle.9 -
Hey, good for you! You jump started your weight loss and it's working and you feel great! I'm sure you'll adjust as you go along. But it must feel soooo good to be off to such a great start! Congrats!10

No, you are not going to die but it is not a long term solution.0

No but if you continue like this you likely won't be happy with the results.2 -

I assume you don't have any of the medical issues they list in the warnings, so it's probably not bad. It's just a bunch of naturally occurring diuretics to dehydrate your body so you see that faster water weight loss early on. You'll probably find it less effective as you go forward, though.2 -
Listen, I know it feels good to get pounds off fast like that. It gives you momentum. But you really should consider reading the stickies in the weight loss forums about losing too fast. The faster you lose, the more muscle you lose along with fat ESPECIALLY if you are eating as little protein as you are. Also, losing that fast with such an aggressive deficit can lead to other problems.4

10 pounds in 12 days due mostly to water weight from the "detox" tea and the effects that eating a lot of fruit tend to have on clearing the intestines. Not trying to down play this but come back in a month or two and give us an update. I highly suspect that you are going to see a plateau very soon.5

There's nothing wrong with that tea. It likely just makes you poop a lot7 -

True true.2 -
I have poop tea as well. But I'm chronically constipated.3

Ok, so you're not going to die eating this way but it's really not sustainable long term. When I was 20 I did exactly what you're doing and I lost weight fast. Then I gained it back. Not immediately, but eventually. Thus began a lifetime of yo-yo dieting where I'd lose quickly, then gain it all back over and over. Literally dozens of times.
I'm sure it feels good to lose that much weight so quickly, so embrace it and move on. Count this as a good jump start and educate yourself on healthy eating for a long term lifestyle. Bottom line, you need more protein to retain muscle mass. Lean animal proteins like chicken, fish, turkey, eggs are good unless you are vegetarian. Then you'd look for other sources like legumes.
I still occasionally drink a detox tea because I think it might help support liver function, but I wouldn't consume more than a cup or two a week. I'll probably get a "woo" or two for that, but whatever.9 -
I am vegan and I’ve had that tea like only 3 times. And sure I will have more beans from now on.5
-
You don't have that much to lose so 10lbs in 12 days was very aggressive and ok it might kick start your 'diet' but you need to think nutrients and giving your body proper fuel.
As others have said already, you don't want to lose muscle and rapid weight loss does just that.0 -

How many calories is that/are you getting?0 -
I assume you are trying to lose *fat*, not just *weight*, right? Most of what you have lost so far is water, particularly if you have been on a diuretic tea. It made the scale go down (and that's fine... everyone enjoys that initial boost), but it really isn't accomplishing your goal. If you have been severely under-eating (you don't actually mention calories), you are losing nice lean muscle. Again, not what you want. So make sure you are getting the 1200 calorie minimum for women and don't become discouraged when the *weight* loss slows down or even goes up due to fluctuating water levels in the body.

I've lost 5 pounds in one day eating whatever I like following the "get your period diet"!9
-
This might be a silly question but if you aren't using MFP to log/track your calorie/marcos and happily manage to "loose" 10lbs why come on the MFP boards in the first place?
I've wondered about this when people ask "what diet are you following?", erm none...I'm eating within a healthy calorie range and exercising regularly.
Or maybe it's just me trying to make things too simple

Just drink normal tea, none of those diuretic diet fads. Herbal teas, Rooibos, chamomile, mint, that sort of thing. And you do need carbs, the whole keto-vegan approach you seem to be taking isn't a) sustainable and b) body-comp friendly.
Anyone else thinking of Freelee the Banana Girl when reading this thread?2
