@7lenny7 Congrats! Great report and pictures!0

I really want a laughing instead of woo because you all are hilarious. Seriously. I just hit like most of the time with a few hugs thrown in.5

I am on the board!
Pt gave me half a mile, so I had some honest idea what to tell doc tomorrow when we discuss further clearance. So... it’s not much, but it’s not a goose egg12 -
7 miles, first time outside this year as I re-train
I will not make goal this month, though.

Nice race report @7lenny7 !!
Over here mud is the norm. None of that snow and ice stuff you all rave about.
I’d did a race last year which started in a horse sanctuary. It went through a few horse fields at the start. That wasn’t just mud we ran through......3 -
@7lenny7 Congrats on finishing this tough race!!!

PastorVincent wrote: »So I called the vampires and asked them about it and they said "as long as you stay hydrated" that it would be fine. Honestly thinking the advice to reschedule the donation given in this thread is probably better. *sigh*
So follow up on this. Apparently, the vampires changed their mind. So, keep in mind, last week I call their medical desk and asked if it was a problem if my blood donation was 3 days before a race and the medical desk person (nurse?) said: "Sure no problem!"
Well, this morning I just got an unsolicited email from the parent company of the vampires, and she said: "do not donate if you are racing three days later."
Not sure how my question got pushed up the chain. Maybe they actually do review the recordings of calls and caught this one? Either way, I figured I better update the thread, in case anyone reading was taking the advice given by the vampires.9 -
February goal: Keep kicking at Zumbro training
Nominal mileage goal: Let's say 140? I really don't know. Real plan is to follow training and coach's advice well.

Today's notes: Assignment was 2x3mile at 8:00 pace. I ended up averaging about 7:56 pace, so right on the money. Run actually didn't feel all that hard. I mean it wasn't exactly easy, but I think it was actually the "comfortably hard" my coach said it should be. Oh, side note, it warmed up to 24 this morning, so I finally got to wear shorts on a run!

@KatieJane83 - hope you have a wonderful birthday run tomorrow!
Thank you Teresa! Hopefully I'll get it in. I have a bday dinner out with my fam so I plan to do it at lunch, unless any colleagues decide I need to go out for lunch, lol.
@7lenny7 I am in awe. Awesome job!!!
@HRKinchen Nice! It's my first time in NOLA so I'm really excited. I'll be staying until Tues, with a couple of friends, we got an airbnb.

Took a few days of to see if the odd sensation in my heel would go away and it's much improved. I'm paying a lot of attention to stretching and that's helping. It felt great to get another run in this morning. I moved my endurance horse to a barn so I can finally start getting him conditioned for our first 50 miler in May. Nothing like Vitamin H to boost the mood - although this running routine sure is helping, too!7 -

Just returning back from my supposed ski vacation and am 225 posts behind. I will try and browse through at lunchtime and see what I missed. The ski weekend was one during which zero skiing actually happened. The weather was terrible. Most of the slopes did not even have snow and the ones that did were a mixture of mud and ice and it was pretty much raining the whole time. After checking out the conditions, we decided not to waste our time or money on a lift ticket. On the running schedule, I had 10 miles scheduled on Saturday and 12 on Sunday. Originally my Saturday run was supposed to be a tempo run, but I wasn't sure what type of terrain I would be running, so I went ahead and banged that out on Thursday instead, which turned out to be a good thing because Saturday's run was a total bust.
It rained pretty hard all morning, so I waited patiently in my running clothes for a break in the rain. It never did quit, but it let up a bit sometime after lunch so I decided to head out. The house where we stayed was on a remote rolling road. There wasn't much of a shoulder, but it wasn't highly traveled, so I took a chance. It was not the best idea. I was about three miles out and the rain returned with a vengeance. It was pouring pretty hard and I had hit a busier section of the road. I was trying to dodge puddles in the ditches and oncoming traffic all at the same time and I was afraid that most of them couldn't really see me well because it was raining pretty hard. I tried to cut off onto some remote side roads, but they were so steep they were hard to run and the rain was gushing down them. When I hit mile 4, I decided to turn back. By the time I made it back to the house at 7.9 miles, I was so soaking wet and miserable that I decided to call it a day and run 14 on Sunday instead. I was really, really glad to get home and into a hot shower and also glad that I had brought that second pair of shoes!
Sunday's run turned out to be much better. My husband and I drove out to the State Park where we hiked around for a bit, then he did a 4 mile trail run and I ran a bit on some trails then ran the rest of the way back to the house to make up my 14 miles. I had a few rain drops, but nothing like Saturday. The scenery around the lake and on the back mountain roads was nice. I saw a few deer and a large flock of wild turkey. All in all, it was a good run. Yesterday was a rest day and a travel day. We got home in the late afternoon to perfect weather, so we were able to work outside a bit and enjoy the spring like day. I really felt like running because it was so nice out, but I was tired from my weekend runs and all of the travel, so I resisted the urge and gave my body the rest. Speedwork is scheduled for this evening.7 -

@7lenny7 That looks like quite the epic race! I am afraid that is what my 50K in 3.5 weeks is going to look like.... I water walked and did my body weight exercises on Monday (and foam rolled while watching a movie at night with my son). This morning I did my first circuit training class (a lot of cross fit and body weight type exercises) and then ran 5 miles in the Nature Park (the weather is fantastic here today). I'm hoping that the classes for the strength stuff will be more motivating than trying to do it on my own.
Feb 1 Ran 6.0 mi + stretching
Feb 2 Water walking
Feb 3 Ran 10.2 mi + stretching + foam rolling
Feb 4 Ran 18 mi + stretching + foam rolling
Feb 5 Water walking
Feb 6 Ran 4.5 mi + stretching
Feb 7 Ran 8.0 mi + yoga+ stretching + foam rolling + strength
Feb 8 Ran 4.0 mi + PT +stretching
Feb 9 Water walking
Feb 10 Ran 10.0 mi + yoga + foam rolling + stretching
Feb 11 Ran 17 ish miles + foam rolling + stretching
Feb 12 Water walking + foam rolling + stretching
Feb 13 Ran 4.0 mi
Feb 14 Ran 8.6 mi fast + PT
Feb 15 Ran 4.0 mi + foam rolling
Feb 16 Rest day (somewhat unintentional)
Feb 17 Ran 6.0 mi on trails + yoga
Feb 18 Ran 20.0 mi on muddy trails + foam rolling + stretching
Feb 19 Rest + foam rolling + body weight exercises
Feb 20 Ran 3.5 mi (intervals + cadence work + a little barefoot running)
Feb 21 Unintentional rest day + yoga + body weight exercises
Feb 22 Ran 5.5 mi (intervals + cadence work + a little barefoot running)

@PastorVincent I do have a smart phone and use the Nike App for tracking. I am also toying with treating myself to a watch, narrowed it down to either a Fitbit Ionic or Garmin 935 (the Garmin with the leading edge thanks to you & others here!)
@juliet3455 I actually do have a backpack that I have set up for running/cycling/duathlons, with stuff in it from towels to medical to duct tape to extra undies. I used up the sun screen a few months ago & have forgotten to replace it, however, got a few samples there at the Expo that I promptly put in right in the pocket! And I usually always try to get to events a few hours before start times. This is my 4th year running Gasparilla & have NEVER run into this problem, usually I pull into the 1st parking lot & get a spot. Have NO idea why this year it was different.
My mum asked me the next day if I had "fun". Fun? No. Will I do it again next year? Oh Ya!!
And it's crazy, but I DO kinda look forward to the little badges on this Nike app. Yesterday's run, I earned "Farthest Run:, "Longest Run", the Silver Milestone (25 miles in a month) AND I beat Saturday for my "Fastest 5K"! Oh, and I so totally negative splitted! Oh ya!

I am going to throw caution to the winds and run in capris and a t-shirt this afternoon. It's supposed to be 4C! Hooray! (Aka muddy snowy slushy ice time. Will probably stick to the city maintained multi-use trails.)8
-
And just checked the updated weather forecast and we are supposed to get 4" snow on Saturday, just in time for my 10K race on Sunday...5

If you get a garmin you can connect it to your nike running app and still get the badges and track your shoes. Fitbit does not sync with nike.3 -
