Hey there! Just wondering if there's any other gals or guys out there that are in the midst of getting ready to go back to school? I go back on September 8 (a little less than a month away!) And my biggest fear is falling into the "I'm too busy to eat healthy" mind frame or the ever popular, "I need to snack because it's exam time and I'm stressed" or the "hey there's a party Friday night, BYOB." Wondering if anyone wants to get together and start a group/thread/challenge to support each other through the school year!
I don't know how to start a challenge, so anyone with experience doing so would be great to get us started! But I want anyone who feels like they want to join to join! We can even get a little cheesy and come up with a sorority/academic themed name :P
What does everyone think?

Yep! I'm going back to school August 21st!
EVERY year I end up in that category of "I'm too busy" to go to the gym, eat healthy - anything! lol...
This is my senior year and I would really love for this year to be different..0 -
I love it. I start orientation next Tuesday!0
-
whoot whoot love school!0
-
starting my credential year and its gonna be busy so the gym will be a real struggle but i know i must go...0
-
Love the idea! Summer has made me lazy, and I start my freshman year September 7th. I'd really like a kickstart of some sort so I have a routine to carry into the year! My BIGGEST fear is getting lazy and not exercising and gaining back my loss. Let us know if you have any ideas0

Sounds fun! I'll be in my senior year and taking 6 classes! Anatomy/Physiology will keep me busy, but will probably motivate me as well because I'll be learning about how it all works. I'll also be taking a gym class, so I'll be forced to go to the gym at least twice a week.0

I like this idea! I'm starting my first year of college in September.0
-
Sounds good to me! I think my biggest problem will be those weeks where every single professor decides EVERYTHING must be due THE EXACT SAME DAY! Don't you hate that?0
-
I'd definitely take up that challenge! I start in a week, and it'll be my first time away from home. I only started my diet/exercise routine a week and a half ago, so I'm worried about sticking with it.0

I like the idea! I've always wanted to come out of my freshman year saying that I avoided the 'Freshman 15'. Lets do it! I start university September 7th... so nervous!0
-
I'm in!! I love this idea. This is my 4th year, and the FIRST time that I have compared my class schedule and school fitness center hours. haha. So, I'm filling up my breaks with 'scheduled workout time' I HOPE It works.0

love this idea. i'm going back as a sophomore and i know last year i was stuck in 'i'm too busy and stressed to eat healthy and exercise' state of mind. i want this year to be different.0
-
I love this idea! I too get so busy with school that I slack in the gym/eating department. Count me in0
-
thankfully i am forced to workout daily0
-
i also love this idea!!
i also get into the "i'm stressed" excuse or the "friends are ordering pizza and i don't want to be left out" sort of thing.
plus just the added challenge of being on a college budget while trying to eat good!
i have plenty to lose and if i can do it WHILE away at school - what an accomplishment that would be!
anyone can feel free to add me, as well0 -
Count me in!0

I do hate that! It's like they plan it that way on purpose! I can just imagine them all sitting around having coffee and coordinating their due dates...0 -
Yess I need this!! My last year of school & no more gaining weight! Just loosing it!0

I created the post so we can all brainstorm ideas I don't really have any yet, I've never hosted a challenge before and I think we need something that will work for our busy lifestyles! I'm thinking maybe a virtual recipe book? That's one idea... a challenge of sorts for sure... (maybe to see who can bench press the most textbooks? ha kidding!)
So start thinking everyone, blurt anything out, let's see what we come up with!
PS - WOW to the volumes of response! Made me even more excited0 -
I think a recipe swap would be awesome!
And maybe set a weekly challenge like burn a set amount of calories or something, or log a certain number of miles walking/running/biking, or how many crunches we can do weekly. just an idea0 -
Hi! I'm a (very) mature student at 39 but start Uni in Sept. I have been in college for just over 2 years (and had a baby in this time too).
So, my weight blossomed with my pregnancy (damn my thinking I was having a big baby). I have shifted all but 7lb of my pregnancy weight and have hit a bit of a stall over the holidays.
I started a thread in the food section on lunch boxes as I've been relying on slim fast bars at college but I have a longer commute for Uni and will be doing nursing placements too so working shifts etc and want to keep losing.
Would be great to have a group of us that are all studying and losing too.0 -
I am so in!! My last year of college (UK) and I'm not going to go back into my old habits. This summer I've been working really hard. Thank God I'm not the only one who feels this way!0
-
School starts up in three weeks!! would love it if this could help me out!0
-
So weekly challenge and a recipe swap! What kinds of challenges has everyone participated in? What has worked/what hasn't?0
-
love this idea .. i start grad school up on the 22nd =/0

I am also a student. I am down for this idea. I just don't get the excuse "I am too busy to eat right and exercise." This should be everyone's number 1 priority. How you feel emotionally and physically will determine your success in school.0

When it comes to exercise this will be my first year with a fit horse who needs me to keep both myself and him riding fit We ride out properly for up to 3 hours and I school him for faster shorter bursts on days when I'm pushed for time.
My issue is that we don't have lights where I ride, so night time riding is a bit dodgy. So, with a bit of juggling and time on my 'study day' for riding I'll have something to release me from my studies for a bit! lol
Am looking forward to uni.
I started a lunchbox thread on the food board if you fancy a look at it, there are lots of ideas in there for packed lunches that aren't packed with calories or bad things! I've not been great with lunches in the past and relyed on meal replacement bars to be 'good'.
What are your tactics for lunches and snacks? Do you take your own?0 -
I'm in also. Go back to uni Sept 20th (ish) (4th year vet student, so pretty busy!), and am really worried I'll do what I did last year - go to the gym for the first couple of weeks, then not be seen back there until March! Apart from all the snacks I used to have between lectures - must do better!
I'm not going to be so good on the recipe front because I'm a picky eater and tend to eat the same things over and over and over lol. Mostly packaged food because I'm equally a terrible cook (must work on this at some point!)! But would love to participate in the challenges, and just know that I'd have to report back here and update you guys on how well/much I did each week might encourage me to keep going to the gym.0 -
This is a great idea! I move in next Tuesday, the 16th. It's going to be a real life change. But I know I will get a decent bit of walking in with such a large campus! :-)0
