What's the most disgusting food you've tried so far on your journey to a healthier you?

Shiritaki noodles actually made me throw up. Not just a gag, but an entire adverse reaction. I also don't like Celsius which is an energy drink with supposed fat burning abilities (which is a load of crap anyways and tastes awful.) Quinoa isn't my favorite either, but my friend's girlfriend seasoned it with tumeric, curry and garlic and it tasted pretty good.1

Definitely shirataki noodles and these crunchy seaweed snacks.3
-
Tropical shakeology. Ended up returning it.1
-
Whey-based protein bars - ugh, like eating chalk. Also, coconut milk based yogurt. Just wrong.2
-
Quest bars--cookies n cream and cookie dough flavors--one of the few times I've actually taken a bite of something and thrown the rest away. They should have just had the same flavor name: Chemical Cookie
But some people swear by them...funny how we're different!!7 -
So funny!
I hate fake sugar of any kind. No less sugar drinks for food— ick.3 -

Someone posted about having "Proats" and I thought, hey that would be a great way to get in some extra protein with my oats!
Nope.2 -

I agree. I don't mind Quest bars but I definitely don't find them the miracle some seem to. Chemical Cookie is a very good description of the flavor (of them all). Had to laugh, it's so true.

I actually do this regularly and love it! I add a tablespoon of vanilla protein powder to boost my Quaker Protein Triple Berry Instant Oatmeal.0 -

To be fair, it depends on the protein powder. I've done it and it was fine.lyssalosesit wrote: »I also tried to make a cauliflour “Mac & cheese”. SO nasty!! I love cauliflour, and Mac & cheese. But together? Nope...
Cauliflower with cheese is not bad! It's just not pasta... I made a cauliflower 'alfredo' sauce once and laughed - I have no idea how people can even pretend that it tastes as good as the real thing. It's pasta and cauliflower, period. Didn't do it again. So funny!

I have a hard time with it too, which is kinda a bummer when you're trying to lose weight and have a sweet tooth. It doesn't help that when they put artificial sweeteners in something, it's pretty much always TOO sweet. The only sugar free thing I can tolerate is cough drops, which has been pretty handy lately.
I tried some kind of protein 'pudding' once... I forgot the brand. Wasn't cheap either, but the end result was so disgustingly sweet that it ended in the trash (it used fake sugar of course).
And I'll add Halo Top Waffle and Pancakes waffle in the list. Disgusting.2 -
Protein pancakes (eggs and bananas). Took one bite and instantly regretted the 5 calories that went into it. It's a fried egg trying not to be an egg, and a banana trying to emulate sugar and failing to. It was both too sweet and not sweet enough - hard to describe.
Edited: Adding my voice to protein powder ruining oatmeal.9 -
Vega protein powder, a berry one in particular. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.2
-
Linda McCartney mozzarella veggie burgers.
I feel sick thinking about them, they were so revolting.1 -

My most disgusting food has nothing to do with eating healthy or anything. I don't try weird foods because they are supposed to be healthy.
But bone marrow. It's like eating the slimiest snot imaginable.6 -

i tried adding it to greek yogurt...blergh1 -
0 cal noodles from Holland and Barrett... It wasn't that I didn't like them that much, although the texture was a bit rubbery and strange. I just physically couldn't force myself to eat them - it was like my body wouldn't recognise it as food. A really strange sensation.2
-
A chia breakfast bowl from Whole Foods. I don't normally have texture issues (for example, I have absolutely no issue with tapioca pudding), but the texture of the chia (so slimy and clotty) was disgusting.3
-
Yeah, chia is at the top of my 'do not fly' list.5
-
Halo Top. It's definitely not for everyone.5

Amaranth - I had a phase where I tried as many whole grains as possible, and the very earthy and hay-like flavor of amaranth was pretty bad. I also tried one of those premade cottage cheese/fruit containers and it was so gross that I threw it out after one bite. Haven't tried cottage cheese again since.1
-
greek yogurt, hands down. that *kitten* is so nasty.3

Heeding the mantra that "dark, green & leafy" are nutritional powerhouses, I've tried, on more than one occasion, to eat Swiss chard. Regardless of how I've had it prepared, all I can taste is an off-putting bitterness when I eat it. My wife loves it, but I won't be eating it again on purpose.1

Wasn't really on a "journey to a healthier me" or anything but fermented soy beans from Korea. Literally rotting to the point they were slimy and coated with this mucous stuff.2
