Hello, my calorie goal on MFP has been set to 1200 calories a day for me, and while I have a few friends on here none of them have similar calorie goals. Most of my friends here aim between 1500-2100 calories a day, and that's closer to what I'll be eating during maintenance, so I was wondering if anyone here has a 1200 calorie goal and would like to be friends.
It would be interesting to see what kind of meals and snacks other lower calorie friends eat, hoping to get some new ideas!
Oh and I have an open diary so whoever else is 1200 calories you can take a look at how I eat for motivation as well!

Hi,
I am just starting out again - it has been on and off for me with not much luck but I am trying for 1200 calories and would love to see your foods - that is also what I aim for.4 -
Y goal is 1200 without exercise. I would love it if you add me as a friend so to see your meals too! It is hard. I eat too much sometimes, especially because I workout a lot and hard. Then I am soooo hungry. But I always try to keep under my calories with exercise goal. But I need to loose about 10 pounds and it would be easier if I stuck to the 1200 calorie goal. I hate being 5'0"!!!6

How much do you have to lose, and what did you set your weekly weightloss goal to? That's what determines your calorie target, in addition to height, weight, sex, age and activity level.9

I don't eat 1200 for an average intake, but I eat around 1200-1400 a few days out of the week (I prefer to calorie cycle). I'm SUPER basic on those low calorie days because I just don't care about eating super palatable foods when I'm busy. Give me my egg whites and spinach Mon-Thursday and a bacon cheeseburger on Saturday.11

Hi,
A simple 500 calories deficit is enough for good weight loss.
The key to any diet is knowing exactly how many calories you need on a daily basis, and just eating under that number).
First you need to workout how many calories your body needs in a day (Total daily energy expenditure).
Weigh yourself first thing in the morning.
Input your data in this website www.tdeecalculator.net
Choose whichever activity level is closest to yourself.
Then click the cutting calories button (under the macronutrients heading), this will give you your starting calories, and what you need to stick to on a daily basis.
Try to get as close as possible to your cutting calories every day, a little over or under is fine but no more than say 20 - 30 calories either way (stick to this bit).
Don't equate eating under your calories with faster weight loss, this will just lead to failure and probable binge eating.
Foods to eat:
Absolutely anything you want, Just weigh and track everything you eat and drink inc milk in tea & coffee etc. (don't add calories back in when you've exercised, MFP will ask if you want to do this).
Check your TDEE on a weekly or daily basis, because it obviously drops as your weight comes down, and adjust calories accordingly in Myfitnesspal.
If you want quicker weight loss you can obviously add in cardio and or resistance exercises, not only will this help build muscle but it will also create a bigger calorie deficit.
If you were to do this I would recommend just a 30 min incline walk on the treadmill or walk outside at a steady state.
Drink plenty water, at least 2-3 litres a day.
It's important to drink more water whilst dieting, not drinking enough will cause you to retain it, not only that, toxins called persistent organic pollutants, accumulate in fat cells, which get released into the bloodstream when dieting and burning fat.
And that's it, just carry on until you are at the weight you want to be.

I am on 1200 calories too, I eat a bit more depending on exercise and how hungry I feel. I have an open diary, feel free to add me. I'm losing weight slowly, for me the low goal is due to my height0
-
At around 1200 too. Feel free to add me y'all.2

I'm also at 1200 calories without exercise. I'd say I average about 1400 per day, though. And if I know I'll be splurging on a particular day, I'll try to keep it at 1200 for the rest of the days that week0

I'm doing 1200-1400 cal per day...i've been using MFP for years but have never gotten into it enough to use the message boards until now. I dont have any friends here yet but would like to have some so I can have support and get some recipe ideas. If anyone wants to friend me, I'll friend them back.1

I'm just wondering how many of you including the OP actually need to be eating as little as 1200 cals a day. Usually it's only applicable to those who are very petite/ older...
It's about sustainability. If you can't consistently eat those few calories then how will you stick to it? And thus begins the yo yo dieting cycle - proved by all the returning posters who are back for the nth time here to tackle their weight loss.
Btw I am petite, lost 20lbs+ eating 1700-1800 cals a day/ 0.5 lb a week. And the best thing :- I haven't regained, this is year 5 at maintenance for me.23
