How long do you believe it is healthy to sustain a fast?
(There is protein intake as well as double doses of gummy vitamins, due to malabsorption issues and upwards of a gallon of water a day)

If you are taking in protein and gummy bears, you're not fasting. Why would you wish to fast? And is it hot where you live?9

That is a unique definition of a fast. Perhaps you are asking how long it is safe to undereat on an unbalanced diet?16
-
Healthy? I've heard that women shouldn't even do 16:8 because of hormone issues and should instead do 14:10 if they fast at all.13

What type of fasting? Like intermittent fasting? Or to reset your metabolism?20

Bingo. Considering those gummy vitamins (well, at least the fiber ones, so I'm presuming the vitamins as well) have 5 calories per bear, that's not fasting.2 -
Fasting for someone with malabsorption doesn't sound like a good idea at all.19

i had gastric bypass...no haters, please. i had to, due to medical problems. i dont need to be judged for it on here. i get it enough in real life!!!22 -

If you already have issues absorbing all your nutrients, why are you fasting?8 -
Not judging. I suffer malabsorption too (crohn's and gastroparesis) and fasting is bad for me (even though i am nauseated and don't have an appetite most of the time) as it makes my nutritional status much worse.6

I've heard that intermittent 18:6 fasting is healthy, and it's OK to do once a week. True fasting, black coffee, tea, water only.6

What problem are you hoping the fasting will solve?3 -
just learn to weigh and measure your food properly and eat within the calorie guidelines as set by your medical team.7

Have you asked your bariatric surgeon?
Is there a reason that eating smaller portions won't work?3 -
