Why would you advise something so non-healthy as detox teas? Or those maximums, which may not be appropriate for everyone? Not to mention a cheat meal can wipe out a weekly deficit depending on the person.16
-
I understand wanting to lose weight for your wedding - my wedding was my motivation to lose weight (ended up being 25kgs)....but your plan is not a great one.
To lose weight you need a calorie deficit. You don't need to impose rules on meal sizes or food types. You also need to eat enough to stay healthy - 1200 is the minimum most women should eat, in order to provide the body with a sufficient nutrients to maintain basic functions.
Did you put your stats in to MFP to get a calorie goal for weight loss? This is what you should eat every day, before exercise - it's not an amount to stay under. Your deficit is already calculated in to this number. Exercise earns you more calories.7 -
If it works for you then great but that sounds really over-complicated.
How about something a little simpler. A 3 rule system that has been proven effective by pretty much everyone here:
1. Weigh everything
2. Log everything
3. Stay in caloric deficit while eating stuff you like

Oh no I didn’t mean to impose anything on any of you just do what works best for u..... I have only shared what I planned to do that worked for me in the past6

Worked for you in the past in the sense you temporarily lost weight?
Why maximum 1200 cals?
Why not eating back your exercise calories when you are exercising which I assume from your maximum comment ?
Why pointless and possibly harmful "detox" teas?
Why no carbs for dinner?
Less carbs but more vegetables is a conflict as vegetables are for the most part carbs.
Think you really need to reevaluate your ideas about weight loss especially in the light of the lovely aim of "general well being".

Just trying to loose some weight in a period of time. Any constructive suggestions you have will be appreciated, not here for bashing as I have not bashed anyone. Thanks11

And no one has bashed you. You've simply gotten several comments on why this is an unhealthy and potentially hurtful plan. That's not bashing. It's exactly the constructive suggestions you asked for. They're not going to tell you that what you're doing is a good plan if it's not. Personally, I'd think that's exactly what you'd want.
Maybe you should give that some thought.7 -
OP, I don't know your stats , but enter them all into MFP and tell it you want to lose 1 lb per week. It will give you a calorie goal. Log accurately and consistently, and eat those calories. Plus log your exercise and eat back at least some of those too. Weight loss isn't linear, and doesn't always happen exactly on schedule, so you can't guarantee you will lose all the weight in that time frame, but you'll at least get close.
1200 is the absolute minimum calories allowed, so it should not be the max cals for women. I didn't have much to lose, and I lost weight eating 1500 cals. I would have been hungry, miserable, and weak eating 1200 cals every day and exercising. There isn't one "right" amount of calories for everyone, and 1200 isn't right for the vast majority of women.
You actually don't need any rules at all to lose weight (just eat the right amount of calories) but I wanted to strongly suggest you skip the detox tea - it's just laxatives, and laxatives every day can lead to a dependency, which is no bueno.
To be honest, you should have started earlier, as you're going to have enough to be stressed about right before your wedding, and weight loss is stressful on the body, but as long as you don't put to much pressure on yourself and shrug it off if you have a day off plan you can still make some headway.
Congrats on your wedding, enjoy it!3 -

It's not bashing you - it's bashing a bad plan full of diet myths.
Suggestion:
"Smaller portions" - good idea.
"No Junk" - define junk? What if some junk food had a reasonable amount of good nutrients, fitted in your calorie limit and allowed you to stick to your calorie deficit while enjoying some food you like?
"No carbs for dinner" - why? There's no magic to either carbs or timing of carbs. Why can't you eat some of those extra veggies with your dinner? Wouldn't you prefer to enjoy not endure your dinner?
"2x green/detox tea a day" Drink green tea if you like it as a refreshing and hydrating drink that might be lower in calories than some alternatives. But it's not a detox (name the toxin it removes?) and those marketed as such may be laxatives, which would be a dreadful idea on a low calorie diet.
"More vegetables, Less Carbs" - More veg is generally a good idea, filling, nutritious and often low calorie. But they are mainly carbs and that doesn't make them either good or bad.
"Calorie maximum daily (1200 - woman 1800- man)" - Use the tool you have picked in the way it was designed, that may well not be 1200 cals and the use of "maximum" is a concern. Crash dieting is in conflict with your goal of well being.
"Exercise 3x a week" - Great. A mixture of strength training and cardio may well be optimal but pick things you enjoy and benefit your fitness, otherwise you will stop. Either before or after the wedding and it would be a shame to lose a healthy habit. (By the way the calorie goal on here is for a non-exercise day only.) Another part of the puzzle is increasing your daily activity (more more, sit less). It's a silent but significant calorie burner and a good lifetime habit to work on.
"1x cheat meal a week (optional)" - I dislike the word cheat as it gives a moral tone to simply eating food you enjoy.
You have to deprive yourself of some calorie to lose weight but deprivation of enjoying your food is a big reason diets fail.
Your goal is achievable, but not easy, but the end date may have to be the final dress fitting not the date of the wedding which crunches your time even more.
Happy, healthy and glowing but maybe not quite at you goal weight might be a compromise.
Best of luck.8 -
Rules are:
Smaller Portions
No Junk
No carbs for dinner - Pointless
2x green/detox tea a day - Pointless
More vegetables, Less Carbs - You mean white carbs? Veg is still a carb.
Calorie maximum daily (1200 - woman 1800- man) - That is a completely random number, please tailor your calorie goal to your personal stats. It will make the whole process infinitely easier.
Exercise 3x a week
1x cheat meal a week (optional) - Cheat days undo good work. Just make 'naughty' foods part of your new lifestyle.
Unless you fancy putting it all back on and more post wedding, I would seriously revise some of those frankly strange rules. Detox tea? You do realise that is utter nonsense, right?

Thanks for all the advise I’ll do my best to stick to this diet plan as it worked for me in the past where I went from 86kg to 74kg and shape the way I eat. I set rules for myself because they motivate me. You can do what’s best for u, you do not need to follow my rules.9

I’m trying to lose 10kg too. But I feel like the “no” part is a little extreme. If you restrict too much, you’d end up binge eating. There are no details to your diet plan either. What is “no carbs”? because fruits contain carbs too. I love having sweet potatoes for dinner and they’re good carbs.
Take a deep breathe & don’t get stressed out.
Good luck.

Rules are:
Smaller Portions
Smaller than what? "Measured portions" is a better rule for most.No Junk
What does this mean? Don't eat non edibles? Good, basic advise, I suppose. No carbs for dinner
Why?2x green/detox tea a day
Are you talking about the laxative ones? Seriously a bad idea for most people!More vegetables, Less Carbs
Again, it depends on compared to what, but more vegetables is a good idea for the majority of people.Calorie maximum daily (1200 - woman 1800- man)
You mean minimum, right?Exercise 3x a week
Yes, at least this much, for everyone's health!1x cheat meal a week (optional)
I always wonder about the moral compass of someone who thinks this way. It probably ends up being the same as someone who eats 80/20, but why does "cheating" make some people feel good?

Unfortunately it sounds like you've come here for an endorsement rather than advice.
There's been some solid advice provided in this thread by people who have had consistent success, people who genuinely care, and (most importantly) people who aren't trying to sell you anything so have no motive to mislead you.
So, I'll again suggest you at least take what's been offered here into consideration.9 -

How long did it work for you, though? Are you still at 74kg and want to lose from that, or did you gain it back. A lot of these comments will help you make sustainable changes so that you can maintain your lower weight rather than gain it all back once you don't have the wedding as a motivator.5 -

I’m 78kg a year after but fluctuate between 75 and 77 so I’ve pretty much maintained it3 -

If my dietician told me "More vegetables, Less Carbs," I would promptly look for a new one. Vegetables have carbohydrates, this is basic nutritional information here.6 -

With the exception of avocado (which is technically a fruit), vegetables are predominantly carbohydrates. Plants in general tend to be mostly carbohydrates...2 -

Please do enlighten us as to which vegetables you think you are referring to, that don’t contain carbs.
It sounds like you are maybe a bit confused about what carbs actually are, which is not really a great start in aiming for healthier nutrition...6 -
