Tapping involves tapping your fingers along the meridians of your body (according to Chinese medicine). It struck me as woo-ish, which is why I haven't tried it before, but some of the meditations that go with tapping do help shift thinking away from food, and keeping your hands busy when you're hungry is a good idea.

The Journal of Obesity has an article on the hormonal link between eating later in the day and overconsumption. The hunger hormone gherlin is higher (especially with stress). Plus, the peptide YY (hormone feeling full) is lower.1

Good for you! I read somewhere that nothing tastes as good as the first bite and I've found that to be true. Sometimes that keeps me from gobbling the whole thing if I can convince myself quickly enough.
