Hey all,
So I went liquid only for one day following colonic hydrotherapy as I wanted to ease my digestive system in (vege smoothie, protein and fruit smoothie, vegetable soup and lots of green tea and lemon water).
I could have eaten an entire fridge full come the evening I was so hungry though!
My question is for those of you who have tried,
1- how long did you do the liquids for,
2- what where you consuming, and
3- how did you stop yourself feeling hungry
4- did you feel any health benefits?
All the best fellow fitness friends,
Tiff

I guess my question for you is why? Why would you want to do a liquid only diet? What are your health and nutrition goals in doing so?12

This is all the answer you really need. Also ask what does one really learn about nutrition and portions by consuming nothing but liquids.7 -
The only time I've ever done a liquid diet is when it was medically necessary, like when I came out of a coma and had sepsis. I would never purposely eat a liquid diet unless I had no choice.12

For 12 hours, before surgery, not recommended for any non-medical reason.10

What I posted in your other post:
I have often because of severe GI diseases but I wouldn't do it if you don't have to/can eat solid food.5 -
I did it for 3 1/2 months after reconstructive jaw surgery... would I do it by choice - hells no!!9

I answered this in the opening paragraph of my post.

1-only as long as the doctor ordered
2-prescribed diet of glucerna meal replacements and half a cup of skim milk
3-I couldn’t stop hunger signals but my body gave up growling within 72 hours. I think out of despair. I could still be triggered by a food ad.
4-none, zero, nada. The prescribed diet was to shrink my liver before surgery and I succeeded. I was very weak throughout and I had to give up my daily walks.4 -

My question was really only for people who have tried liquids only and to share their experiences and thoughts. I’m not expecting to to “learn about nutrition and portions”?

People have shared their experiences...
But it doesn't seem to be what you want to hear?12 -

Ha. Me neither now after trying it for one day. I felt my body was like, erm you’re not chewing anything so you still need to feed me.
Glad I tried it though and my tummy did feel great the next day I have to admit.

So how do you plan to maintain when you get to goal? Fad diets and crash diets which don't go beyond just dropping all the weight are nearly a guarantee that regain will happen when you're done.5 -

What an unusual assumption. What do you think I want to hear?

What have I said that you find abusive, just out of interest?7 -
Is there a reason you thought colonic hydrotherapy was necessary? Or that you think your digestive system needs "easing"?
Absent actual medical issues, our bodies are very good at digesting and no help is needed.10 -
You tried it for a day and you were miserable. Unless it is medically necessary being miserable overrides any other perceived health benefits. Choosing to be miserable on an ongoing basis might suggest an unhealthy mental state.
I hope that is clear enough for you.8 -

Actually, no, you didn't. You said that you tried it for one day following colonic hydrotherapy. My question is why you would ever want to do it again. You posted follow up questions which made me assume that you were looking to do it again and I simply wanted to know why and what your end game was. Take care.

Exactly. The important part of experimenting is learning when the experiment has failed. You have learned something new about yourself and that a liquid diet is not going to satisfy you which is not a shocking result. Whether you are trying to lose weight or not the goal is to get through the day satisfied and happy.2 -
What were you expecting to get from colonic hydrotherapy? I know that was not what you are asking but I really hate it others get duped by this BS. I guess I just hate snake oil salesmen for some reason....8
