through exercise? not happening, unless you're significantly over weight and running a marathon every day!

as a TDEE, its entirely possible if you're very active.

Wow! That wouldn't work for me. I hate burnt food.

I'm not really sure what's going on in here. Little help, OP. Question, comment, or context please.

I did a century bike ride on Monday and MFP said I burned around 6000 calories.

I spent 3 hours at the gym today and only burned about 1,100! 3,500 is an all-day work out...maybe hiking the Appalachian Trail? Haha.

As TDEE? According to my Fitbit I managed it once on 30 January and have gotten close a couple other times. No idea what I was doing, but apparently it was active...

I had a 4,000 TDEE according to Fitbit yesterday. I was all about the cardio yesterday.

Sorry, to gain muscle at any appreciable speed you will gain some fat.

But I think unlikely, as you probably won't be able to eat enough if you think that calorie burn at work is correct.

And that 5000 is based on ....?

Now - it used to be 4 Little Debbie's from their variety would provide 2000 calories - and used to be 25 cents each. Tad more now, but still...

    That leaves 3000.

I could repeat today but only one more day. I simply can not keep up with replenishing my glycogen stores. Plus some muscle trauma (the good kind) would inhibit my ability to push as hard. I have done back to back hundreds but it requires (which are usually 3500+ calories) and better pacing on the first day.

I struggle to find time just to get in some exercise. The 5 hour plus times you warriors are doing is impressive.

I *think* I had a 3000 cal burn doing a 3hr triathlon once, but no way I could do that on consecutive days never mind making it a regular workout goal.

That's a little under my average TDEE when I'm training fairly consistently...

...but I still don't understand the question...

    ...or lack of question.

    Was there a question?

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ETA: And if we're just talking about exercise in addition to pre-exercise TDEE, then a backpacking day would get me there.

As directed exercise? 35mi run on the flat, significantly less distance on a hilly trail run. Last Saturday I did a 28 miler with just over a half mile of elevation and got 3500 (based on Garmin Connect). Couple of weeks ago I did a 50K and got 3600 (from Garmin again), on a much flatter route.

If I look at my Strava record for the same runs I got 5500 for the 50K and the Marathon at the weekend is 4200.

I believe doing an Iron-Man competition may burn that much.... Or setting yourself on fire.

I didn't even see that mentioned on KDKA. Ironic that it's UMPC in your app ad lol. I wish I could do the stuff you guys are doing but after an hour on the treadmill I'm in such pain that I can barely walk. I'd love to burn 3500 a day.

I can burn 2000+. Some days my TDEE is over 4k. 12 hour shift on my feet constantly walking and lifting a collective 35k pounds of product.

an ironman will be easily triple that - when i did IMChatt - overall it was close to 9000cal for the day (16hrs, 144.6 miles)
